21Bat: My pharmacist told me there is extra in my vial...He said "Plenty" actually. So no worries...I am sure that they make sure there will be enough in case you use it longer than the average person.

Hi 21bat,
You are right to want to make sure your needle is clean...you can always carefully wipe it with alcohol. But, when in doubt...
As far as wasting your Lupron, the amount you take will change as you go through your cycle. I would call the Dr.'s office when you are down to the last 4-5 needles or last little bit in the bottle, no need to worry about that now. I was surprised at how little was in the Lupron bottle and how far it actually went!

What kind of pre-natal vitamins are you girls on?
I've gove through lots of different ones and found one that doesn't make me nauseous - it's called PrimaCare. There's an AM and PM tablet. I find it hard to swallow the AM tablet lately - i'm not very good at swallowing pills anyway, but this one makes me puke lately! I may need to find one with just 1 pill/day.
What kind are you guys taking?

Oh, my accupuncturist told me to take omega3 fill oil capsules - so i bought a bottle today at a vitamin health store. It's supposed to help with all kinds of things, including joints, and memory help. I'll let you know how it goes. Anyone else taking them?

I think we talked about drinking green tea a few weeks ago...I remembered why I was told not to drink it while TTC - it removes the folate. Just thought i'd share

21Bat: I am on Cal-Nate. Love them. I take them at night before bed. I have never been sick with them, even when I forgot a few times and took them the next morning. I have been on them since August. I highly recommend them...and taking them at night.
I heard about taking Omega 3 too, I asked the nurse this morning, and she looked at me like I was crazy, when I told her the list of vitamins I was taking. She says all I need is my mutivitamin and folic acid. Whatever. I am still taking them.

As for the "worries" ...when I figure out how to cure them I will bottle it and sell it. ...And you will get the first bottle free. LOL

Thanks Tammy i'll definitely give Cal-Nate a try. Are they perscription? Are you taking them and folic acid and fish oil? sounds like a lot, but it can't hurt. i was thinking of getting extra folic acid capsuls, but my prenatal vitamins have 1mg so my nurse said thats plenty. i think i read you want at least 400cg a day.

I am on the extra folic acid due to my age and uterus lining. I am also on baby aspirin for the same reason. So you may not need the extra folic acid. If your nurse says it is plenty, then you probably dont need it. Yes, Cal-Nate is prescription. I am also taking Vit E, Vit C, L-Arginine, Co Q 10, Zinc, and L-Arginine. So now I want to add omega 3. I have heard alot about fertility concoctions...and when I asked the doc...he said none of it will hurt me. It may help.

Mia - thanks for the info on the pinneapple - I will be buying some frozen ones at TJ's.

AF went away!!! YEAH!!! The RE sai that it should go away soon and it did, sooner than I thought after lasting longer than normal... I tried not to exert myself and took it easy so it would heal up.

TammyS - Is estrogen and Estradiol the same? My baseline was 10 and now it is 150 so as of Thursday, Estradiol I think shows the measure of how your follicles are developing, starts after AF then peaks at ovulation.

Yes. I am almost positive that it is the same thing. I heard between 10-20 is what they are looking for? Does that sound right? Not that it really matters...just interesting. When you got the 150 ...how many days of stimming was it?

BUSY BUSY BUSY!! GOOD MORNING LADIES so many posts- so little time!
very excited for all of us!!!!
I guess we're all easing into this - I ate my last sushi last night and start shots today!

So on to the grumbling....sorry in advance

So my Mom told my sister about us doing IFV - 1st mistake as she's lovely, but a gossip. That being said, I then told sis briefly about what was going on over the holidays since she already knew, I wanted to give her more info than whatever weird thing my mom told her. So yesterday, she sends me this email about this guy I barely know who accidentally knocked up his girlfriend,and now they have a sweet little kid born just before xmas and isn't that great!!????!!!and with a photo! I am like wtf? does she even get what's going on here??? I am going to have to have about 100 self-induced( or DH induced

) injections and myriad other wacky shit done to my body,and she sends me this - and I had literally just picked up my gunnysack of meds when I got this email from her, so I laid it all out on the table, took a photo, and sent it to her!!

and was like, Oh, well here's what I'm up to.....
I haven't gotten any response yet-

and not sure that I will, but glad to get it off my chest
My mom doesn't get it either- I told my folks I'd come help them with some stuff sometime in January, but I told them that I don't really know what my schedule is with the IVF as things change, and I need to go in to get bloodwork etc, and that there is no schedule - so what does she do?? calls and says "so when are you coming up? I need to know so we can plan things" Um, hello, earth to mom

" I know it's hard to understand, but they do have internet access, and she could take it upon herself to do some research

alright- enough of that

so, injections start this evening - I'm suddenly nervous. I had my baselines yesterday- all looked great according to them( i don't know what looks good, actually)
and I'll be on 75iu menepur and 225iu folisitim and next bloodtest is wednesday 16th and probably start ganerillix then
I also decided to ask about the progesterone shots and how long i do those if i get a bfp -2 months!!!! holy crap!!!!that's a lot- is this "normal"??

so excited for all of us, and i'm really glad to have you all - and i'm going to get a pineapple!

Loopie: Dont be nervous! I was surprised at how much I got nervous for nothing. The shots were alot easier than I worked it up in my mind before hand. Just take a deep breathe ...smile...and remember it is for a great cause. I seem to be right on schedule with you. I am sorry your family is having a difficult time grasping what is going on. Mine has been pretty good, considering. Yes, 2 months of progesterone shots is normal...if not a little longer.

Hi everyone,
I'm jumping into this post a little late but I'm going to be on the same schedule of some of you and would love to join in.

Summary: we did our 1st IVF cycle in November. It started out just fine but my follicles stopped growing at the end and my estadiol dropped before I was done stimming. We were cancelled and I was labeled a "poor responder." I am doing the microdose lupron protocol (with gonal F (75 am and 300 pm and Menopur) this time and start shots on 1/23 with an estimated ER the week of February 4. The meds are more intense this time with a total of 5 shots a day!! I'm hoping for a better response this time around. Is anyone else on the microdose lupron protocol?

I've enjoyed reading everyone's stories and found this site incredibly helpful the 1st time around. I've got my fingers crossed for us all!!

Hi and Welcome Rkronlund! I am on the Microdose Lupron Protocol, too. I am not considered a low responder...my doc is being aggressive due to my age. I hope I dont end up overstimulating due to this protocol. I was on bcp for only 18 days till last Tues and then started my meds last night. I am expecting ER sometime between the 21st and 23rd. I love this shorter and more extreme protocol. It makes me feel like there is a greater chance of this working. I hope that it also gives you a more positive outlook on the whole process...because from everything I have read...it will work for us. So keep your chin up!

Loopie: Yes, 2mths is normal on progesterone. my nurse said about 10weeks into pregnancy! That's a lot of shots!! This is the one that hurts, right? The one in the butt??

Sorry your family isn't getting what you're going through! That must be hard. Our families know that we're doing IVF but we're not telling anyone any details...we're just going to let everyone know when i'm abot 3mths pregnant!

I am on 1 Menopur AM and 75 Gonal-F pm....starting 1/19 tenatively. 1st IVF...i'm nervous, but ready for it! I've been doing my Lupron shots...not too bad.
Oh - question: THe shot i gave myself the other day that bled a little - well now ther's a bruise...not a huge one, but still. anything I can do about that? Is this normal?
