injection timing

Post by Marin »

hi all

Does it matter what time of day you take the injections? Morning, night?
As long as its consistant it doesn't matter?

Most of the time...the doc has a specific time they want them taken. I think it depends upon which med you are on and how many times a day you are to take them. In my case I take 2 shots at 8am and 2 shots at 8pm. If you are taking them one time a day...I have heard that most docs want them taken at night. At least that seems to be the norm. I dont know why. I would definetly call your doc and ask for sure. It could matter to them, when they are taken. Good Luck. :D

Yup! It's as tammy says - I was told to take both- at the same time in the evening- but it was up to me as to when- I picked about 8pm, so I knew that most of the time DH could be here to lend a hand if necessary
and as for the Ovedril ( or whatever you'll be taking to stimulate ovulation) that is a VERY specific time your doc will set -( 34-35 hours prior to egg retrieval)
great day!

Update

Post by sugabeanzs »

Marin: WELCOME! It is nice on here because they are all women in somewhat of the same situation. I WISH I did not tell anyone!!! Now every ALWAYS asks, "How is it going..etc" I AM STRESSED! LoL! That is what I feel like saying all the time yet I just say "fine" I wish I would not have told anyone! But welcome welcome!!! Best of wishes.

Loopie: I understand on the whole family thing. I am so sorry. I dont think people realize how stressful some things are when they have not been through it themselves.

Meds: I was told to take them at the same time every day within an hour

Update on me: I went to the Dr. today and my follicles are 21, 20, 18, 16, 16, 16 etc. SO I take my last dose of fertility meds tonight (thank goodness) and my last dose of Lupron tomorrow!!! I take my HCG shot Monday at midnight (way late and I am asleep at that time but I suppose I get to stay up a little late!) and then WEDNESDAY they get them out of me!!! WOOOHOOO only 3 weeks of being on the fertility meds did it finally pay off. However, I am nervous because they said the HCG shot hurts a few days later because of the muscle AND then the progesterone shots!!! YIKES! Anyone any ideas on remedies on how not to hurt so bad with those? So this weekend they will be putting the 2 eggs back in me!! Hopefully they take and I do not miscarry!

Best wishes to everyone out there!!!!

Sugabeanzs: That is awesome news! Wow! 3 weeks is a long time...I am so glad that you are finally there. As far as the HCG shot...it is not too bad at all. I actually did the HCG shot exactly 2 weeks after lower back surgery and the meds didnt bother my nerves, muscles, etc. too bad, considering. The PIO...I hear icing it first helps to numb the area, and then heating pad afterwards helps. So I will surely be trying that. :?

MARIN -
welcome! My doc said the Lupron shot doesn't matter what time you take it, as long as it's the same time each day. They told me to make sure the stim meds are taken 12hrs apart - so next sat i'll be starting them and taking Menopur at 7am and Gonal-F at 7pm.
Although other ppl haven't heard of the 12hr rule...I'm following it though :)

Sugabeanz: You're on your way! Best of luck to you. Congrats ( but we'll congratulate you when you're pregnant!! :)
Did the meds make you moody?? That's what i'm afraid of when i start the stim meds.

How does the 2ww work? do they take blood tests or something during, or just after 2 weeks they tell you if you're preg or not. i think i'll be taking a p-test every day :)

Thanks for the info on the ice and whatnot. I shall try that!! As far as the drugs making me a little moody...I was WAY moody on clomid to the point I wanted to punch a whole in the wall! So the injections were not bad for me at all. There were sometimes that I was more moody than others but that might just be regular me lol. I did not think the injections were bad. When they upped my dose though my (TMI) nipples started to hurt bad. They say once you start the progesterone that gets worse also.

With the 2ww you dont do anything but wait for the blood test. Then after the first blood test they do another in 2 days to make sure your levels are going up. So like Feb 2 I should know!! I would not do home preggo tests just because the HCG shot can still be in you which may give a false positive I have heard (not sure if true or not). I am sure I will take one though too though lol. I am not that patient of a person!!

Sugabeanzs: You are right ....the HCG shot can give you a false positive. That is the major reason that they dont want you to do a HPT before it is time.

OMG! Listen to this. So I went to my god daughters bday party tonight and her mom (my very good friend) says I had the weirdest dream. She said, "I went to your house and it was you and tammy (my sis) and at first I thought you had gained weight but then i looked and realized it was just your stomache was bigger. and I asked are you pregnant? and you were quiet and your sis laughed a little and said don't look at me, and then finally you said yes. And I asked how far along and you said four months. But you were so big for four months that I said well you must be pregnant with twins!"

Ok she knows we have done fertility treatments in the past but HAS NO IDEA we are doing IVF right now   That pumped me up so much!! I just had to share!! My husband and I were   as we drove home!!

As far as the meds. Lupron is in the evening my RE said between 7-10pm. The Lupron has not made me moody, but I think the gonal-f has more emotional side effects if I remember right. ANyone know?

Loopie: my hand was shaking so bad for my first shot too! :) Now I am a pro. I think I could do it blindfolded now
Sugabeanz, so glad your follies are growing nicely! And ER on Wednesday?? that is sooo soon!!! Baby Dust!! Ice up the bum for the PIO shot and think about your baby!!

21bat: Hopefully we can hold eachother accountable not to go crazy POAS (peeing on a stick). It can be very stressful getting bfns, or even a false bfp.

Suga: I remember being moody on the gonal-f. Clomid was such a long time ago I don't remember what effect it had on me!
Ok I am going to go watch a movie with dh! Baby DUst to all of you! Stay positive!!! THIS IS OUR YEAR!!!

Hi Ladies
I'd love to join you all if i can I have been posting on the dec/jan thread but it looks like i am so far behind everybody and i may even end up having ER in the beginning of feb I hope not but its so close to call so if you ladies dont mind the extra company i'd love to join you all.
Just a little about me I've been posting on and off since April o5 for my first ivf cycle that ended in a miscarriage we then had 3 iuis all negative i had a second ivf in september o5 and became pregnant with twins but lost one very early on . Dh and i then tryed for a sibling for our ds whos now sixteen months back in march of o7 with a FET and the last four frosties we had with no luck we are now beginning the process again and should be starting to stim in the next four days providing Af shows up today as hoped although i don't expect AF to start cooperating now though, its funny how you spend all this time hoping for her not to show and now i find myself doing regular checks to see if shes arrived.
Anyway I'd love to join you all especially seeing there so many ladies closer to my time frame all the best and i hope to be chatting soon
Take care JOMAEXXX

tlova & jomae welcome!!!
mia- fabulous dream- i hope it comes true- twins would be rockin!
Sort of strange- for years I had thought about twins - well, for 1, my sibs are twins (they were adopted, so it doesn't "run in the family") but it's always sort of been in my head -and well before I ever even thought we'd need to have any help ivf or otherwise! So now there is about a 30% chance of multis - good stuff - but honestly- a healthy, happy singleton would be perfect too!!!!-

I did pretty well last night with the shots - no major complaints. I Love love love savory stuff, and have never been much of a sweets girl - so d don't have candy around - but last night i was craving sugar so badly, I ate 3 spoonfuls of brown sugar straight  I guess there is something going on in here :P

acupuncture today and maybe a pedicure if i can swing it!
time seems to be whizzing by now!!!

any of you girls have ER this week???

how many doing ICSI? (we are - and maybe assisted hatching)

Jomae: WELCOME!! Congrats on your ds. I hope this is the cycle that will get get your ds a lil' sibling to boss around :)

TLova: The first couple of shots are hard b/c you don't know what to expect, but trust me they really aren't that bad! Think of the dream as a positive sign

Loopie: When I was little I always thought I would have trouble having babies (I now find that this is extremely common in all women), but I always thought I would have twins. I was gonna name them Felicia and Frisco (I believe that was the name of lovers on General Hospital!! I agree with you though, I just want a healthy pg, but I couldn't stop at just one. It is nice to know these shots are actually doing something isn't it?? We are doing ICSI and maybe assisted hatching if needed.

Hi all!
Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Welcome Jomae and Tlova!

21bat~ that 2ww is the LONGEST two weeks of your life! Try to get through it, stay busy, and I agree with Suga and waitingformia -- stay away from the HPTs!

loopie~ you made me laugh with the brown sugar! How funny. Gotta give the body what it wants! There is a reason for cravings!

waitingformia~ your friend's dream is a sign! Did you still not tell her what you were doing?

Question for all of you: I know a few of you have said that you aren't telling people that you are going thru treatment, WHEN you do get that BFP, are you still going to keep it to yourself?

When I went thru it the first time, I only told people closest to me, parents, siblings, best friend...but I don't volunteer to tell people my DD is a result of IVF. I have a friend who went thru it and she tells everyone who comments on her baby that he is a result of IVF because she is PROUD. Well, I am proud, too, but I don't feel everyone needs to know. And this time around, well, I am trying to avoid comments and explainations, so I have told even fewer people about our FET.
Just curious....
