scan at 13 weeks great!

Post by Di »

Hi all,
Sorry I've not been about recently but have gone back to work and finding it very tiring - also been ill twice with stomach upset so been in my bed!
I had my booking app't at hosp on 20th - scan was excellent - saw baby moving and turning, could make out the femurs forming and saw all the bones of the skull. The radiogragher measured the wee one at 14 weeks which I was really plaesed at as I was 13 weeks and 2 days! The consultant was really nice and is referring me up to the High Risk antenatal clinic in Edinburgh cos of the daily heparin and aspirin I'm on!
Good to see everyone esle is doing great - hope you don't have any more scares Jackie! And enjoy your honeymoon, Nikola!
Di

hi Di

I logged on yesterday and saw you hadn't posted for a while (neither have I, I don't seem to get chance, I'm always either sick or knackered!)

Fantastic news about your scan. I have mine on Friday (I'll be 13wks and 2 days too!) I hope they are both growing and have enough room. Am a bit worried that I'm not very big and the fertility nurse (who has had twins herself!) said she thought I would be quite big by now....we'll see.

I'm still taking aspirin too, I think I can stop when I come back from my hols (after the flight - 14 hours!)

Is this the furthest you have managed? Do you feel more relieved to get past the 12wk point? I know I do and now the scan is out of the way, you can start and relax a little bit!

Take good care - no more stomach upsets!!!
love nikola.xx

Di

Am so pleased to see you made it past your 13 week scan. that is really great news as you have come such a long way and I know getting thought the first trimester must be such a relief. How long will you have to be on the heparin for? I too am on heparin (2 jabs a day) and aspirin though they didn't really tell me why - presume it's because I have clotting agents in my blood. All I know is it's v. expensive stuff and I am going to see if I can get it prescribed on the NHS from now on! Not to mention being black and blue all over my tummy!!

beckym xxx
5 wks 3 days (v.early days yet!!!)

Hi Becky,
I've to be on the heparin until blood test at 16 weeks and then depending on the results I'll either stay on it or can stop! My consultant has referred me to the high risk antenatal clinic in Edinburgh so I can be followed up my a heamotologist rather than just rely on the Park in Notts.
What dose of heparin are you on having to have 2 inj's a day - I'm bruised enough with just 1 inj. I'm on clexane 40mg in 0.4mls a day and have got this from my GP as its not really just IVF related - at least thats what I argued and he believed me! So def ask your GP.
Had Nuchal scan - or should say went for nuchal scan last night and after 3 hrs and 4 attempts the Dr admitted defeat as the baby just wouldn't turn the right way. Apparently I'm the 1st in 5 yrs she's not managed to scan - DH says the baby is obviously taking after me - as I'm always the one to go against the rules!!
Di

di, great news on your scan. it must be so amazing to see the baby! and really comforting that you are being taken such good care of.

nikola, best wishes for friday. i know that the worry will only stop when you've scanned. a small bump on your holiday will be easier to manage and i bet you'll make up the growing when your home. where are you going for your h/moon?

becky, i went to my gp too for progesterone. it saves me £75 every two weeks. i must admit it's nice to Not pay out chunks for a change.

take care all.

phil x
