I took my last BCPill yesterday - now it's just Lupron and dexamethasone until the 19th.
I was telling my accupuncturist today that I really haven't had any side-effects to the Lupron, except for a minor headache the first two days. She said that it means I'll have a good menopause if I'm doing well on Lupron. Good to know :) just thought I'd share!

Well I had my first u/s today, day 8 since I started stimming. I had 8 follies, 3 in the right and 5 on the left. One is 20 mm and tte others are 11 to 13 mm.
My estradiol level was 750 when it should have been over 1000.
I haven't been able to stop crying. I feel like my chances just went down with 8 follies. We are doing IVF because my DH had cancer and chemo lowered his count and motility, now I feel likk I am failing. To make matters worse, my stepdaughter (had her before his chemo) is here with us and I keep having to pretend it is my allergies.
This is my 1st IVF and now I feel so hopeless when I was feeling so optimistic. Thanks for letting me vent.

Rio: Did the RE sound concerned? How many follicles do you need? Isn't one enough? Don't you get all negative on us girl. Chin up. It ain't over till I say it is over (Picture this in a drill seargenty way, but with love  ) These meds can make us emotional. You can still do it.

Well he didn't say anything, just that the right ovary wasn't responding as well as it should. I guess I read into it too much but he seemed concerned but didn't say anything :( just that he didn't need to do an u/s tomorrow, only Wednesday.
I am sure the meds are making me crazy but because everything had checked out and my FSH levels were great, I thought I would have responded better in order to increase our chances. I read that not every follicle has an egg, not every follicle matures, not every egg fertilizes and not every fertilized egg becomes an embryo - Yickes! I am just scared to get my IVF cancelled :(
Thank you for the encouragement Mia- it really means a lot to me right now :)

rio please don't be sad  Your post is breaking my heart. You have to find the positive in all this, right? It only takes one. And maybe the RE moved the u/s to Wednesday because he just believes your follies need a bit more time. I'm positive that if there is something to increase the growth of your follies, RE will do it. Stay positive :D And try and not let the meds reek havoc on your emotions. As for SD being around....can you go to a friends or family member that may be considerate and understanding to what you are going through? Can DH take SD somewhere to leave you alone to meditate and relax? Try classical music, any kind of music. Read a magazine/book. Go for a long relaxing walk and don't think of it. Look around and appreciate the sky, the beauty of nature. ANYTHING! Just try and keep positive. I'm prayin' for ya :D

rio as the girls have said, it only takes one! but you have a bunch in there -they're growing and maturing, and if you feel like crying, do - crying takes the sad out of you
rio- i'm on 75 menepur and 225 follistim, so maybe the 75 isn't as stingy as 150 you're on- I'm getting better at doing the shots- my left side is much easier, right side is sort of tough to get the needle in, so i'm all left for now!

weezie sheesh! these tv shows - maybe the writers could go on the Tyra show (see Unbelievable thread) since they know so much about IVF and how easy it is

katie ER this week!!! wow fantastic and you too, rio??? amazing

Miahurry up already! :P

dawn SHRINK !!!!!!!!!

and to all the ladies mid-stimming GROW FOLLIES GROW!!!!

I bought a couple of pineapples yesterday -when do i start eating them?

[/b]Shugabeans and KbearER TODAY? good vibes comin' yer way - and take it easy!!!

things are pretty mellow here- I feel good, I bought some cookies so I don't have to eat straight sugar anymore - 8)

congrat to everyone for being strong and honest - we're going to make GREAT MOMS!!! have a great day

RIO: From what I understand you have more than one egg in each follicle. My left ovary is useless, she never responds to meds, but my RE is not concerned b/c my right one is a fighter!

Loopie: Glad you were able to step away from the brown sug (yuck, that is sooo gross). Start the pineapple the day of the ET for 5 days and you need to eat the core for best results.

Well I thought AF was here last night, but just spotting. I am sure the wich will be here tomorrow though.

Take care ladies and STAY POSITIVE ALREADY!!!

You girls are FABULOUS! I really don't know how anyone can go through this without this amazing support group!

Mia - thank you again! I did not know you could have more than one egg in a follicle :D yeay! I hope AF gets here soon! I am glad to hear that your right ovary is a fighter :) I guess I am a leftie! ;)

Loopie - Trader Joes has sweet pinneaple that is frozen and also some that are freeze dried- tastes like candy! I think ER is still 19. Let us know how your u/s goes! Grow follies!

Dawn - shrink! shrink! When do you go back to check on it?

Suga/kbear - good luck, I wil be thinking of you - lots of wonderful follies! Very exciting!

weezie - thanks for your support! Unfortunately my family is not in the country and it ends up being hard avoiding my stepdughter when I am emotional (she is 11). She doesn't know. DHs parents will only take her so much (they haven't been very supportive of us and IVF eventhough we all have a great relationship). I just go in our room and get lots of puppy kisses from our two four-legged babies! :)

THANK YOU!!! GROW FOLLIES!!!!

Hello Everyone,
I hope you don't mind me joining your group. I am on my 5th IVF Cycle. Hopefully this will be my last cycle and I will have a bfp..

I am waiting for AF to arrive, closer to the end of the month. Then I am doing the short dose flare protocol. Follistim/Lupron Microdose.

Good luck everyone!

If anyone wants to chat, my yahoo id is embellishpets or msn is coolmomincanton@msn.com

Thanks,

Donna

Antagonist v. Agonist protocol

Post by Kristen2008 »

Hello everyone,

This is my first time chiming in on this message board--but it is by no means my first visit here. You ladies are all so inspiring, and having no close friends having gone through this before, it is a really wonderful reminder that I am not alone.

I begin my first IVF cycle this Saturday, January 19. I am 31 y.o., TTC for 2+ years. Male factor infertility. DH was born with congenital absence of the vas deferens. We are really excited to embark on this journey, but are realistic about it at the same time.

I do have one question: My RE has placed me on an antagonist protocol. (i.e. no Lupron). Reading websites, it seems to me that ordinarily, antagonist protocols are reserved for older women and/or "poor responders" to Lupron/agonist protocols and seem to yield lower pregnancy rates. Does any one have any insight as to why my RE would place me on an antagonist protocol at 31 with no prior cycles? Any insights greatly appreciated, and best of luck to all of you!!!

Hi Ladies
Thankyou all for the warm welcome i look forward to getting to know you all
Hi Tammy by no means did i mean you have to chose only one thread i post everywheret i thought i'd join this one also as everyone is so close to my dates and its nice to go through it with others at the same time. Hope all is well with you what stage are u up to.

21Bat Hi how are you iv'e heard of Lupron before but no idea of what it does is it anything like luprin which shuts down your ovaries?

Mp Hi thanks for the welcome and the congrats on our DS he is definately the best thing that has happened to us. I'm with you i thought af was showing up last night for sure but it didn't I'm so hoping it happens today i'm getting so impatient how long will you be stimming for do you know yet.

Hello riogirl sorry your not responding as well as you hoped I only make about 8 or 9 follies at the best of times so to me you've done well your doc may just keep you on the meds a little longer or increase your dose. oh and food poisoning poor you especially at a time like this i hope your feeling better.

Hi Weezie How are things for you do you know when you expect to have er yet

Katie G glad things are moving along for you if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant with a little girl her name will be Katie i just love your name

Hello Hopinforababy heres hoping for a better estrogen level for you PMA

Dawn sorry to hear your having trouble with a cyst silly question but does it hurt i've never had one so i wouldn't know. I had baby asprin with my last cycle from what i can tell its quite common practise to take it but i guess everyone has different protocols goodluck shrink cyst shrink

G'day Tlova don't worry about the needles once you've done it a few times you'll be a pro i had to pick up extra needles today for my Lucrin and I hadn't realizeduntil i got home that i was given a bigger needle its nearly twice the thickness of the first lot all i could think of was elephant needles ouch ouch as for your dream don't be depressed about it think of it as things to come maybe it was a sign to say hey get ready it's your turn to be a mummy.

Hi Loopie we had to use icsi for our first cycle but had to go the donor route as dh had no count :( mind you they had to take half a nut to find this out Ha Ha he still goes on about it 16months later.

Hello Beth i guess i agree with you about volunteering that ds is an ivf baby if i am ask directly i'll tell people but as far as i'm concerned it doesnt make any difference how they got here besides it opens a whole lot of other questions i may not be prepared to answer once they know of course my family and close friends know but thats it goodluck with your treatment.

Thanks again for having me sorry if i didn't get everyone i'll have to get a note pad and take notes next time so i know what to post and to who.

Baby Bumps for everyone
Take care JOMAEXXX

Hi Everyone,

I hope that I am actually posting on the correct forum. I am a total rookie! I have lurked on other chats, but am feeling optimistic about my upcoming IVF cycle and thought that it was a good time to get involved :D

I don't talk to many people about the whole process, in fact VERY few, given that all of my friends/family seem to be pregnant  I thought that this would be a good place to talk to people who understand. I am looking forward to having some companionship.

I just started my Lupron shots (day 21) today. Las time I used this protocol (IUI cycle) I ended up getting my period a week late. I don't know if this will happen again. Has anyone had a similar experience?? I am so anxious to get started!

I also recently read the book The Fertility Diet. I am not sure what I think about it...my Dr.'s didn't seem to have a stance, other than to maintain my weight and eat healthy. Has anyone else read it?

I am thinking to trying acupuncture this round...I don't want to leave anything out...anyone have any experiences they can share?
