Thanks girls. I know I need to stay positive and I promise I will. I think it's just sitting here in bed for the past three days that is getting to me. I wasn't due back at work until Thursday but I think I'll go back tomorrow to keep my mind occupied.

I promise to keep positive thoughts. PUPO - My babies need me. PUPO - My babies need me.

Message-Board First Timer: Antagonist v. Agonist Protocol.

Post by Kristen2008 »

Hello everyone,

This is my first time chiming in on this message board--but it is by no means my first visit here. You ladies are all so inspiring, and having no close friends having gone through this before, it is a really wonderful reminder that I am not alone.

I begin my first IVF cycle this Saturday, January 19. I am 31 y.o., TTC for 2+ years. Male factor infertility. DH was born with congenital absence of the vas deferens. We are really excited to embark on this journey, but are realistic about it at the same time.

I do have one question: My RE has placed me on an antagonist protocol. (i.e. no Lupron). Reading websites, it seems to me that ordinarily, antagonist protocols are reserved for older women and/or "poor responders" to Lupron/agonist protocols and seem to yield lower pregnancy rates. Does any one have any insight as to why my RE would place me on an antagonist protocol at 31 with no prior cycles? Any insights greatly appreciated, and best of luck to all of you!!!

HPT

Post by PrincessB »

I couldnt stand it. Did an HPT this morning and got a very faint positive. I am 6DP5DT. So am I pregnant or is this the HCG shot still? HCG shot was 12 days ago. Does anyone know?

I feel really silly for doing it in the first place. I needed a tiny ounce of hope because I'm having AF like cramps.

What now?[/img]

hmm, Princess, I'm not sure on that one. But I can totally relate. I am 7dp3dt and dying to take a HPT. I go to RE on Saturday for the "true"test, so I am trying so hard to hang in there.
Have you had any symptoms? I am tired, bloated and keep waking up at 5 am , completely uncomfortable. Keep me posted on your progress. When is your test date?

PrincessB you may have something going there girl. I thought I read that HCG last in your system for 10 days. Is your test day Thursday? That may be a good positive.

I know I won't do a HPT because my fiance is putting his foot down to that. I think if you test again tomorrow the line should get darker.

I know you are so excited at this point that you will probably POAS over aand over again, that's why I won't do it because I'll get addicted.

Everything crossed for you.

Pricecake - I know it's hard not to want to POAS. I'm praying for you this Saturday.

Sticky Vibes to the both of you wonderful ladies.

hpt

Post by PrincessB »

thanks washingtonda,

i will probably test again in the morning to see if it's darker. I kind of have to now, right? I guess that's why we're supposed to stay away from those things.

My test is actually friday but nurse told me today that I could do an HPT on Thursday. I confessed about my hpt this morning and she said the shot should be out of there by now. She was very hopeful.

I'm just still a little guarded about it though. I just cant get over how much these cramps feel like AF. I know alot of people that had BFP's say they had them too but it just feels too familiar.... This is a torturous procedure! :(

Hey Ladies,

This board has been on fire since I last posted :D Finally back in town after a short trip Monday. I know I will miss someone but hoping all everyone is doing well!

Ladies in 2WW - Glad to see that you ladies are not going to POAS. Although, I am addicted to it, I never recommend it :P :P ! Tons of baby dust your way

Neffi2111- Looks like you are responding soo well! Grow follies grow :D

Unexplained - Sorry for the late Welcome. So sorry about the hated pink eye. My first IVF cycle, I had an UTI and was on a strong antibiotic. My RE said it was okay to continue the cycle. So, hopefully that is what you were told

blondzella = Great follie count. Let us know how your transfer goes and rest up

Colesmom - Ohhh looks like you may have tons of eggies to choose from. Everyone seems to be responding so well

Kristen2008 - Welcome to the board! I'm sorry I don't know why your RE chose that protocol for you. I've seen the protocol many times on this board but I don't remember if it was just used on older ladies. I'm considered a poor responder (cancelled twice) and I always started off with lupron. Are they using anything else to suppress you? Sorry I was not much help.

washingtonda - It does seem like having too much times on your hands can make you a worry wart. Michele and esperanza gave me great ideas to occupy my time. I ended up with a scrapbook for DH (loved it) and a half finished scarf (if you want to call it that :D ) Praying hard for you sweetie!!!

Preggo Mommies - How is everyone doing? I think we have some u/s coming up or did I miss them? I have my two u/s pictures but cannot scan. DH finally told me that it is not working, guess that is why it was wired crazy??? I had another u/s before I left and we saw the heartbeat!! Soo beautiful 120 bpm and the baby is measuring as it should. I have one last appt with my RE next week and I get cut loose. Kinda sad to be leaving my nurse and the REs are so sweet.

Sending out tons of baby dust and sticky vibes to everyone!!!

PrincessB -- I hear that alot of people get the AF symptoms right before they test and get positives. It all sounds hopeful.

How many IVF attempts is this for you? Is this your first.

Also have you just started to have symptoms these past few days or have you had them ever since ET.

I had my transfer on Sunday and had a few cramps that day and no more since.

Hi Ladies: I see you are all just posting away! How do I keep up with you all? :P

Washingtonda: I am sorry to hear that you did not end up having any embies to freeze. You arent going to need them anyways, PUPO.

Esperanza: How are you feeling and doing? Too early for signs, but wanted to say that you, too, are PUPO!

PrincessB Bad Bad Girl. LOL It does sound like you may have a BFP there!!! I heard 10 days for HCG too. Cant wait to hear how the test comes out tomorrow morning. Good Luck!

Hellokitty: How is everything? Sounds like you are doing well.

Dexter: How are you feeling?

Neffi Good Luck on your b/w and u/s tomorrow.

Pricecake You are doing good, PUPO. Dont take the test. You can do it...just 3 more days.

Kristen2008 Hi and welcome. I bet you are excited....and ready to get the show on the road. As for the particular protocol...I would ask your doc.

CT_Michelle: How are you feeling?

Colesmom How are you feeling with soo many follicles? I am soo excited for you. When is your ER?

Unexplained I am so sorry about the pink eye. Such bad timing. Hopefully you will feel better real soon.

Blondzella When is/was your ET? Cant wait to hear about it.

If I missed anyone...so sorry...it is just so hard to keep up with soo many people. I love the fact that this board is on fire, though! 8)

To everyone stimming...Happy stimming ...Grow Follies Grow!

To our preggo mamas: Happy doubling (60% or more) Betas to all!

As for me: I had my first u/s and b/w this morning. I have only been taking my meds for 3 days. I have noticed that an appt this early seems to be rare. Did anyone else go in after only 3 days of stimming? The u/s only showed 5 follicles just starting to be big enough to detect. At first I was really upset...I always do better than that. But, then realized it is really early...and you couldnt even tell they were follies yet. I probably have many many more right behind them. I go back on Friday morning. My estradiol level was 119. I heard anything over 100 after 3 days of stimming is good. They kept my meds where they are...and told me everything is as they would expect to see. Why do I feel worried about this protocol not being better for me, now. It is supposed to be better. I know it is early, but I cant help but feel disappointed, already. I have been having alot of cramping today, partly do to spotting (AF), and the headaches from the lupron are non-stop. The hot flashes and bloatedness started tonight, too. I am gonna change my estimated ER date ...I dont think I am gonna stim as fast as I originally thought. Ghost? Anyone? Input on u/s and b/w after only 3 days of stimming?

tammy-thanks for the good wishes. I really hope it works out okay. As for your stimming. I believe I went in at 3 days but just so they could check my estradiol level and make sure I was responding. The good thing is that you know you ARE responding. This whole thing is such a roller coaster. It's one hill after another. But we've seen it on this thread. Many dreams are coming true here and there are so many different situations. I'll keep you in my prayers tonight.

Washingtonda-This is my first IVF. I've had cramping every since the day of ET. I have really swollen ovarys. The nurse made sure to point that out to my doctor before he did the ET. Only the last few days have they been feeling like AF cramps. AF wouldnt even be due until Sat though. Fingers are crossed. Oh, i've also had discharge for 3-4 days. Oh how i pray all of us on this 2ww get our BFPs!

Good night all. I'm praying for us all!

PrincessB - I had AF cramping so badly that I was convinced I wasn't pregnant. What a happy suprise when I took a HPT 10dp3dt and got a faint line. The next morning a darker line and now 6.5 wks pregnant! Of course the waiting doesn't end with the double red line, but that does mean you cleared the final hurdle.

Doreen - Honestly going back to work is probably the best thing. You probably won't be as productive as normal (I am STILL not - this whole thing is distracting), but it beats sitting around the house waiting for time to pass. You will have good moments and bad moments and I think that is totally normal and, one could say, expected!

Unexplained, Kristen, Pricecake, Neffi and everyone else who is relatively new that I have not personally welcomed - Welcome!

I go for my 2nd u/s today and I hope to see the heartbeat. Fingers crossed.
