Please Advise: Do Frozen Transfer or not?

Post by michelle38 »

Hi everybody-

Has anyone been in this situation, or similar:

I had 1 unsuccessful IVF last November, with 2 Grade "A" (the best) embryos. I currently have 2-3 Grade "B" (second best) embryos in frozen storage.

I am wondering what my chances are if I do the frozen transfer? Is it worth it to spend ±$ 4,000 on the transfer, with the embryos at a lesser quality than my first IVF??

Or should I cut my losses and save that money for adoption? Money is a real concern at this point.

Thanks so much in advance.[/list]

If it was me, I'd use the frosties. Another stimulation is expensive. You're (probably) paying to keep those frozens in storage, and that makes no sense if you are not going to use them.

Hi Michelle38... I agree with Ghost. You've paid for the storage so why not give it a try? I'm doing a FET in March. I had my first IVF in November and ended up with a BFN. I have no insurance coverage and know how expensive all this stuff gets. My RE has said the good thing about a FET is that he has better "control of my lining". And some women can only get pregnant with frozen cycles as opposed to fresh cycle because the RE has better control of their lining. Who knows? That could include me! However, I don't want to look back and think "What if I had tried?". I hope that I am able to help in some way. It is a difficult decision to make. Let us know what you decide! Good luck! :D :D

I also have heard that the second time around is sometimes more sucussful. The body isnt used to the crazyness the first go round. me and DH have decided to go for 1 IVF and FET's if necessary but we will put the brakes on after that. Good luck w/ everything.

Thanks you guys!

You are all right..... I don't ever want to look back and say " what if..? " In the grand scheme of things, what's another $4k? It is worth it to give it another try.

Had never heard of the fact that they can control your lining better...?.. that's interesting b/c I think my problem is implantation, not necessarily fertilization. Wow.. a glimmer of hope. Coo!

Thanks again.
