Jan/Feb 08 Cycle Buddies

I am only on Lupron and Gonal f now. I went from 10 units of Lupron to 5 know that I started 300 units of Gonal. I think I will be on the GOnal for 6 days and ER is on 1/28 and ET 2/2. So I am just a couple of days ahead of you. No mixing for me this time I am sooo happy abou tthat. The pen is super duper easy. And all my shots are in the evening. Such as easy protocol. Good luck with the mixing tomorrow. I know the first day is always the toughest b/c I always second guess myself.

Question how did everyone count day one the reason i ask is yesterday morning i thought i had it in the morning after going to the loo sorry tmi and then i had nothing to speak of until that evening which was the same as the am but didn't even need to use anything until 2am that night so what do you think was yesterday day one or today day one not real sure myself. anyway now that it is definately here i will start gonal f on monday or tuesday i'm not sure how long for yet i'm a poor responder so hopefully it doesn't need to go on too long

21bat i've used the gonal f pen and will be again don't stress your self out about it i can't remember having moodswings when i was on it and i have to take the maximum dose although DH would tell you i did i do remember having rotten headaches though and even if you do have the mood swings i think rageing hormones is a good a reason as any

ok guys im off to hospital. 21bat--the shot shings for literally 3 seconds and then i itched in the injection spot and then it went away. You'll do great (you actually probably already took it) see you all later off to ER.

Suga: Sounds like you had OHSS, I have heard that is/can be a good thing and that it gets worse if you get pregnant!

21bat: I have in the past been on 10 units of Lupron from day 21-day3, and then had it reduced to 5 units during stim. I believe that is the protocol for my RE's office. It is crazy that it is so different with each Dr.

Question for everyone:
When you have ET on day 3 or 5 when do you start counting from the day of ER or the day after?

I am still waiting for AF, I am not later than usual yet, just impatient. I feel crampy etc. so I am hoping to get it on Wednesday. I usually spot for a few days before, so we will see.

Congratulations to all - it takes a lot of guts to do this! and I'm proud to be on this journey with you all!

I think it's so interesting that even though we're all on similar meds, Lupron/Gonal Menepur/Follisitim - we all have different dosages, mixtures, and timing- each of us is unique and requires a protocol tailored to her specific needs - I guess I when I started this adventure, I thought there was sort of a set thing, but a week into the meds - and I've learned way more than I ever thought I'd need to about how babies are made!

Not even sure I can catch up on all of you individually - but it sounds like everyone is easing into the regimen, and a couple are already on the 2WW!!!

I had another BW/US yesterday, and had much better news- after upping my Follistim to 325/and Menpur kept @ 75 - we went from 63:( to 207 estradiol! yay -and the shots have become pretty simple as I've been home very night- but monday, I'm going up to NYC, and I have no idea how I'll get away with doing all of the shots( I'll be Gannerilix by then) without my companions knowing - I'll probably end up having to do them in a bathroom on the NJ turnpike! blech!
ultrasound showed about 10 follies between 12-8, and a few others tagging along - so for now, it looks like at least 4 more days before trigger- so ER will probably be closer to 24-26 Jan, but it's all good - I may have been off to a slow start, but I'm cookin' with gas now!

Loopie it does sound like we are the same. Nope they didnt up my meds cause I am already on 350 follistim. Yesterdays u/s was the same as you 10 follies but they were almost 10 mm and under. I was on 6 days of stimming at my u/s yesterday. 7 days today. How many days for you? The same? I am expecting to trigger Tues or Wed. It is nice to have you on the same track as me.

Sage: You start counting the from the day after ER. So if ER is the 24th ...then ET would be the 27 for a 3-day transfer. Apparantly the core of the pineapple contains something in it ...forget the name...that helps with implantation.

Suga: You poor girl! I am sorry that you had such difficulties. Praying for you.

Jomae: Yayy! Glad my funky AF dancing worked. I was told that you count the first full day of flow before midnight as day 1. So apparantly spotting dont count. However, I also heard it does...from somewhere else...so now I am sorta confused myself. Call your docs office to verify how they consider day 1. I have a feeling every doc considers it differently...just as our meds are all so different, too.

Mia: Did you get the job??

Hey Tammy - yep, sounds like we're running the same race
Yesterday was day 7 of shots, they say follies grow about 1-2mm/day so that's why I think it will be at least 4 more days for me - though I don't know how they can tell which follie is which- I looked at the US as RE was working, and I saw teh dark blobs, but - I could barely tell them apart

I have to say, I love the follistim pen - that thing is so cool- once I figured out how to push the plunger I do, however, hate when one cartridge of meds runs out, and you have to do 2 shots instead of 1!grrrr

ok- Questions Ladies: when trigger shot is given, did you/do you continue to take your stim meds prior to and during the 34-36 hours between trigger and ER? I know you start progesterone same day as ER (very rude, indeed )
and how many will be doing the dreaded Progesterone shots in the rear VS the suppository?? - I am all needles here (except for the Ultranatal vites which come in horse-pill sized portions! )

Keep Em Growing!!!! and as for those already post ER or in 2ww - divide and conquer!!!

Loopie: So you are technically about 1 day ahead of me....which explains why your follies are 2mm bigger than mine. LOL I know it was hard for me to tell the follies apart, too.

The follistim pen is cool. I hate when I have to do 2 of them too. OH but wait...this week...2 different times I had to do 3 of them!!! LOL
The first time...I forgot to dial up the meds first and stabbed myself before realizing it. LOL So then I had to change the needle and do it correctly after dialing up the meds...then I ran out and had to change it again....all in one sitting. The second time...I stabbed myself and then moved and the needle came out!!! Dear Lord, why me. LOL So of course it was also the same day the meds ran out and I ended up with 3 shots of the pen that day too. Ugh. Dh just laughs at me...cause keep doing that in the mornings when he is not here...he does the night ones. LOL I am glad it dont really hurt...or I wouldnt be laughing.

When you trigger it should be the last of the meds. You arent supposed to take them anymore....unless your doc does something out of the norm for some strange reason. They will direct you on what to do...so no worries. I am doing the PIO shots in the behind too. Not looking forward to that. But we can do it!! I just keep telling myself that.

Tammy I'm sorry to laugh at yer pain, but I really do understand and empathize! thank goodness the needles are so small!

so, yeah, I guess we are the closest - ages are the same, too!!( well, my Dh is going to be 40 in April) but other than that - it's like we were separated at birth!
makes it simple- we can be 2ww buddies, too! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mia: I do all my shots at 90 degrees and never bleed. Maybe it was just a 1x thing.

Loopie- Glad to hear that the docs tweek'd your meds and you are movin' right along

TammyS-3 pens! I need to ask my nurse about that. I remember her saying something about when I get close to the end I can just save each pen and then if at the end of stimming I need more I can acually use a drawing needle and draw from all 4 (close to empty) pens and get 1 - 2 more doses from it. Then just switch the needle back to a tiny one. I know it sounds cheap, but she said she tells all her patients to do that b/c she believes there is a lot of waisted meds in the pens. Something like that. I will have to have her remind me when I go next week. Keep those follies growin'!

Bat- My doc is decreasing the lupron tonight from 10u to 5u. I started my gonal (225u) this morning and I will have to do my menopur tonight. I am mixing 10cc of sodium chloride to 225u (3bottles) of menopur. I am scheduled to stim for roughly 9 days. I hope you do will with your shots

Well, I'm off to run some last minute errands. I doubt if I will even leave home at all next week. Besides going to my appointments. DH is moving tomorrow and I won't see him until next weekend. So I really won't bother doing anything. Guess I won't feel like doing anything anyway. I'm beginning to wonder if him moving while I'm stimming wasn't a sign from a higher power that I may just be a tad bit hard to live with. LOL!

Hi lady's I'm home from ER---It went well I was so scrard to go under i've never been under. I went under crying and woke up crying. But im fine. At home ate lunch and now going to nap for a while. I feel find besides bad cramping and a little bleeding. I dont have to start PIO until monday probably. They took out 23 eggs but im sure not all of them were at size but they said that was good. They said they think it will be a 5 day transfer so we will see. OK well ill check back after my nap. Hope Rio/Hopin are doing well also.

This whole thing with different pens and stuf...that's confusing! Tammy - your story with the needles sounds like someting I would do!
My nurse hasn't told me anything about this. I am on 75u of Gonal-F so maybe I won't need to worry about it since it's a lower dose?? I'll have to find out.

I did my first Menopur shot this morning! I was so scared with the mixing and stuff, but I think we did ok for the first one. It hurt a little when i applied pressure to it after I took the needle out, but overall it was fine.

Are you girls on dexamethasone?? I forgot to take my pill last night, so I took it this morning (and still planning on taking tonight's pill this evening). You think it's ok that I missed it and took it this am? Or should I not have taken it at all? Maybe I should call my nurse and find out...

Loopie: I am deciding between the shot and the suppositories, but I think I am going to do the shots...it's 1/day instead of 3 suppositories a day - that's a big commitment and hassle! I know the shots are going to hurt more than the stim meds and lupron shots, but I am hoping I'll get used to the pain. My nurse said i'll be on the progesterone shots for abot 10weeks into the pregnancy!!

Do your nurses tell you the # of your estrodiol and # of follicles and stuff like that, or do you have to ask? My nurses aren't telling me a whole lot - just the fact that things are normal...my first u/s since i started my stim meds is this tuesday, so maybe they'll start giving me specifics, but i dont know. I want specifics so i can look them up online (or ask you guys ) to see if all my #s are normal.

Sugabeanz: How are you doing? Your ET is on Monday?? Good luck!!
