twins!!!

Post by jt - ivf at 41 »

Hi Daniella,
Nice to see another Canadian on the site! Congratulations on the wonderful news of twins!!! I am currently on my 2ww - and would be thrilled to learn that I am carrying twins. (I know that is not something I should WISH for - - ) A BFP is wonderful - however it comes!

I writing to you as I read about your severe stomach pain - which I am suffereing with. I is all on my right side - to the point where I cannot sleep, breathing deeply hurts. I am wondering if I do not have the same situation. Does this sound like your stomach pain??

I am headed to the DR later on today - but am unsure how I am going to get through a day at work. I have meetings all morning that I cannot really miss.

Would love to hear back from you! Are you expecting identical or frat twins?

buckeyegal wrote: indieblue--hi there! We looked at the REgent, and it does go to 65 pounds, but it's quite big. So, we ended up with the roundabout. I've heard great things about both. Good luck getting preggers!
Yes, they are HUGE....we have a Suburban and 2 of them take up the whole bench seat LOL Oh and I just checked again and the Britax website does say that they go up to 80 pounds....not 65. I was pretty sure it was 80 or 85, one of the reasons we got them was for the higher weight and the height of them. I don't know how I'd feel about putting a 12 month old in them (they say the recommended age) but we started our 3 and 4 year olds out in them at 2 and 3 so with the 5 year expiration date on them, we should be able to get them through carseats with this set.

And thanks for the well wishes on getting pregnant....just got to make that call to the RE to get things started but I'm stalling LOL

Dexter....
I experienced some minor bleeding in week 5 for one day. That is the only time I had any bleeding with a twin pregnancy so far (16 weeks now), however, some people have bleeding at all different times throughout their pregnancy and it isn't that uncommon. Also, intercourse can cause bleeding so if that happened a few days beforehand, I wouldn't worry. Actually, I wouldn't worry in general unless your doctor tells you there is something to worry about. Think positive and stay in contact with your doctor for reassurance. (-;

Dexter- Congratulations! Was your 12 week scan a transvaginal sono or did your dr do a vaginal exam? If so, it is very common to have discharge or slight bleeding afterwards. It always made me nervous when that happened.

woodcliff, I am will probably go with just regular cribs. All that fancy stuff is just overpriced and overrated I think

yes, I don't know what I was thinking about scheduling the baby shower that late, I guess I am pretty supersticious (SP?), didn't want to have it earlier  Actually delivered 10 days after the shower:)

dexter, sorry about your bleeding, hope everything is fine, pp do bleed during the pregnancy and Laura is right, there is some minor bleeding with vaginal us.

indieblue, good luck with your cycle.

Dexter--same exact thing happened to me when I was around 12 or 13 weeks..like you, only when I wiped. Freaked me out, but it was also around the same time I was being cut back on my projestrone supplements. My RE said that was pretty common. Also, like the other gals said, if you had anything in your va-jay-jay, then that could cause some spotting. My RE said as long as it couldn't fill a pad an hour, then I was okay. I never got anywhere near that. Good luck to you and stay positive! Your body is going through a lot right now.

Kimberly--how's bodie? I loved the pics on the bucket! THanks for posting them.

Bad news on our end...went to the ped today for our flu booster shots. Well, This morning, Braeden woke up with pink eye. I had the doc check that out. Well, during the checkup, he said Braeden also had a sore throat and an ear infection! Yikes! I didn't even know! No fussing, no fever, no nothing. Poor guy...his mommy is so negligent. :? Anyway, our doc, of course, wanted to do antibiotics. I tried to avoid them, but he was pretty persistent. He said if Braeden was 2 or older, he'd be fine letting him fight it off himself, but the doc said at this age, the infection could spread and get really nasty. I did mention Bodie's stomach issue after antibiotics...and the doc said braeden's old enough to have some yogurt which will help replace the good bacteria. SOOOOO, I'm caving. He's on amoxicillin. Is that what Bodie was on? I'm so nervous. I really had hoped to just late nature take it's course, but I know the doc knows more than me.

Any advice anyone? Laura...does this sound right to you? I know you've got the ear infection expertise....

Thanks for getting back to me ladies,

No I never had intercourse (too scared) and it was a straight fwd ultrasound, not an internal, so that writes that out. I was only prescribed Progesterone for the first 7 weeks of the pregnancy so couldn't be that either.

I went to another hospital where my OB works from today and I must say they treated me exceptionally well and I was so relieved I went. The bleeding continued overnight (only spotting but ever so slightly heavier that day before - sometimes red then turns to brown) so we had another scan today and both bubs are doing great and seem to be unaffected. They found 2 small 'clot disruptions on the anterior side of the uterus and one just to the right of the anterior placenta that are to the side of the babies individual sacs and not directly affecting them. The Doc didn't seem concerned at all. Apparently they are very common and as long as the babies placentas are not affected by them, they tend to go away on their own. The doc said I will most likely get more bleeding until the clots reabsorb and my cervix is closed tight so there was no evidence of a miscarriage taking place. The bleeding has already eased off a bit and I'm on house arrest for 10 days.

Thought I would share in case someone else comes across a similar situation. It worried me sick but helped to know that a lot of women have unexplained bleeding in their pregnancies and not always at a very early stage. I'm still tentative but not as worried as I was.

Thanks to everyone for your responses and I look fwd to checking in with my double trouble progress!

Kim- Amoxillicin is the first antibiotic they start you on. It is mild and doesn't usually cause GI problems, but sometimes doesn't completely cure the ear infection. Hope it works for you as the stronger stuff causes nasty diarrhea. I agree with your dr about not wanting a baby to get a really bad infection. They go septic really easily and can get very sick, very quickly. Antibiotics have some bad side effects but babies used to die of infections before them, so it's a trade off.

This seems to be the week for bad baby health news. Jeremy has to have a head CAT scan on Monday. He has a pronounced ridge fron the soft spot on his head down to his forehead. The plates are fusing on top of each other instead of next to each other and is severe cases has to be corrected with surgery. I'm hoping his isn't serious. I hate that he may have a pointy head, but better that than needing skull surgery!

Laura--thanks for the advice. I knew you'd be a good resource with your medical background. So sorry to hear about Jeremy! How did you or the doc discover this? I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Hope the scan goes well. Let's pray that no surgery is needed. Please keep us posted!

Dexter....now that you mention it, I am reminded of another time I spotted. I can't remember what week (maybe even 14 or 15?), but my placenta had a few spots where it separated from my uterus. It wasn't serious, but basically a bleed had occurred, and it took a while for the blood to make it's way out, so it was brown. Everything eventually healed back together (with the help of some hormones). I think the color of the blood is pretty important. If it's brown, you're probably fine. It's old blood. Glad the docs were able to put your mind at ease. It's amazing how much I've forgotten already! Two babies can really rob your memory!

We had a pretty rough night last night. Poor Braeden could not sleep. He woke up around 1:00 soaked....he peed a ton! Not sure if it's the antibiotic? Anyway, after changing him, he was wide awake so we rocked for a while.. He went back down only to wake again 3 or 4 times in the next half hour. So, I eventually brought him to bed with me. He didn't sleep well--pulling up his legs alot. Stomach discomfort? Not sure...he wasn't screaming, but he was definitely uncomfy. They're both down for a nap right now. I hope today's better.

Oh, on a funny note,, Ellie is a master at backwards scooting/crawling! ha! It's too funny to see. She's even getting up on her knees sometimes. She seems to enjoy it, but then after a while, she gets pissed, cause she's not going where she wants to. :? I have a feeling, she'll be on the move a lot more here soon.

Have a good day gals! Dexter, take it easy. Kim and Laura--your boys are in my prayers.

This could be quick because Anna is helping me type~ YIKES!!!!

Kim~ What a bummer about Braeden!!!! I put acidophilus in his bottle at night to help rebuild the good junk for him and it seems to help a bit. Since Bodie is too young for yogurt it makes it easier. Only half pill. Sorry he had such a bad night. We could have called each other since Bodie was up half the night as well. He has had a really rough 24 hours. Him and Braeden should get together. I know antibiotics are often something we have to give but for my little guy we are going to try the naturalpath first, then antibiotics if we need to.

Anna is melting. . . .fast!
I'll be back!

Back!

Kim~ So I hope your fella is feeling better today? How is it going so far? Ellie sounds like quite the little ham! She's going to be walking circles around that little guy soon! I have a feeling it'll be the same over here. Seems to be that girls are a bit earlier than the boys most of the time. Can't wait to see some new pics!

Lauralou~ SOOOO Sorry to hear that Jeremy needs a cat scan. Do they have to do a cat scan or can they do an MRI and avoid the rays? hopefuuly he can men w/o surgery. I know what you mean about hoping he doesn't have a pointy head. We hope that Bodie's head doesn't get noticably bigger. It sounds so vain but the thought of our children looking different and giving other children something to make fun of them for is so scarey. It's hard enough to be little. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers and hopefully all will be will. Send him. . .and Nicholas. . .major hugs and kisses from us!

Dexter~ I am glad the worry seems to be less. Sounds like everything is good. Congrats of twins! Can't wait to watch the progress and eventually see the little peeps!

Malinka~ I'm sure your shower will be perfect no matter how close you are. Look at it this way, the babies will love seeing their mommy in pics all big and pg one day at their party! It's so fun to ahve everyone gathered around waiting to love on your new family! Enjoy it no matter what!

Uh-oh. . . screams! Gotta run!

We seem to be doing better today. Last night, Braeden only woke up once. He had a fever of about 101, so I gave him some more tylenol. He went back down pretty easily. I keep watching Ellie for signs of pink eye or an ear infection, but so far, she's been fine. Braeden does seem to like the yogurt. I got that yobaby yogurt and it's peach/pear flavored. SEems to suit him well.

I just put the kids down, so I'm off to run some errands while DH "babysits"----oh, he has it soooo easy!

Kimberly--did Bodie do better last night?

Kim~ OMG!!! Those pics are sooooo sweet! I cannot do anything but smile when I see those two! What cutie pies! Glad to hear Braeden is doing better. sounds like he is on the mend. Whew! Bodie did pretty good last night but Anna and I are catching something now! :( Does it ever end? Hopefully we can skate by w/o getting bad.

Dh is in the mountains all day snowmobiling so the babies and I are just hanging out. Nice to just have some time to play on the floor and keep the fireplace going all day. Doubt I'll even shower. :D

Have a great day!

Kim so sorry about Braeden, hope he is feeling better already and won't pass the pink eye to his lil sister.

Laura, so hoping little Jeremy wouldn't need a surgery, please keep us updated.

Ladies, I need your advice, my DS won't go to sleep on his own anymore.
IF I laying him down after the feeding and changing , he starts to groan and grant which eventially would come to crying. The minute we pick him up, he is fine and he is a happy lil fellow. He goes a sleep in my or DH or nanny's hands, once we put him to down for his sleep, he wakes up again. I don't know what to do? :?:
He started to skip his nap times as well. He practically wont' go to a deep sleep after 4 pm till 8 or 9 pm. To put him down to sleep at night, it is a ritual now days, he has to be hold at least for 40 -50 min and then maybe he will go to sleep. He is pretty gassy as well, so I am doing all I can, giving him massages, holding him upright, burping, etc.. It seems that sometimes he is not even gassy but still something is bothering him.
Somebody mentioned the ear infection? What are the signs? HELP!!
