Hi Ladies, hope you are all well.

Dexter, did you just get one result on the nuchal, i got a result for each twin one being significantly lower than the other, which is very common apparently.

Angie, sorry your feeling rough, i thpought i was getting better, but been very tired this week and the heartburn has kicked in with a vengeance. Hope you feel better soon.

As i was just saying combined results on the nuchal tests both babies came back negative for both downs and edwards syndrome, so very happy, however the reults for baby 2 were almost half that of baby 1. Which the dr said was very common with twins. Saw my consultant at the local hospital today who will be my dr throughout, he was very nice and very concerned over my history. Got another scan but it was a portable scanner so not as detailed but both babies were very active. I see him again at week 28, so just the midwife in between now and then. Next scan at 20 weeks. Oh and on top of everything else my blood group is O negative, so will have some injections at 28 and 32 weeks to make sure there is no problems with antibodies between me and the babies. I have decided i am a walking disaster.

Catch you all later.

Hi gals,

Well I've had a nasty past 48 hours. Basically after my triumphant 12 week scan on thurs, I broke the news to the world and within 7 hours of that I was spotting. I could't believe it. It was like a bad nightmare. I got up in the early morn Fri for my nightly 5th wee and there it was, pink staining on the t/p. I just stared in disbelief. This was followed at 8am with more red blood in the toilet after peeing. So we rushed to RE where we were given a scan and found both babies to be fine and well. No explanation as to what was causing the bleeding. I was relieved to see the babies were OK and that they had grown but I was SO damn scared. Christ, this wasn't meant to happen at 12 weeks. I was pretty low

Anyway, they sent me home and said to come back if the bleeding gets heavier and is accompanied with cramps. Not much bleeding onight but in the morning today it seemed to be slightly worse so I went to the hospital where my OB works. They did another scan, babies perfect, cervix long and closed but they found 2 small 'disruption clots' on the outer side of the twins' sacs which was causing the bleeding. The Doc didn't seem at all perturbed and said its very common appar? The clot will generally reabsorb and some will be omitted. Happy to report bleeding has slowed (no more than a 50c piece on a pad all day) but Doc said to expect more red and brown blood over the next few days. I have to stay put for 10 days and take it easy.

I'm glad we found the source of the bleeding and I'm not overly concerned now but I can tell you I was a complete mess. It's reassuring to see the our bubs on the screen and know they are OK.

Just getting back to Jayne, no we got 2 individual assessments of the twins. Both roughly the same. One of the twins is measuring one day beind and that affected the number slightly for D/Syn - 1 in 3980 (Twin A) and 1 in 3920 (Twin B). They both came back at 1 in 6000 something for Edward's and somethig else. They managed to get a really good look at both nasal bones, so I think that also helped with the diagnosis. I wouldn't worry about the stats being diff for each twin, as long as you're in the low risk area.

Better fly. Hopefully things will straighten out for me in the next few days :?

See ya

Hi Everyone-
Dex- I'm so sorry you had a scare and had to go through a bad couple days. Thankfully all is well with your little ones.

Angie and Jayne- Glad to hear you ladies are doing ok despite all the typical symptoms headaches, heartburn and nausea.

I've been doing pretty good this week. I've been hitting the gym three times a week walking on the treadmill and light weights on legs and arms. Working out has been making me feel so much better. As far as eating I've really been into kiwi and carrot and cucumbers with dip. I think I crave mostly fresh fruits and veggies. I still get the headaches and the heartburn and the past few nights I've only had to get up to pee 3 times instead of 5. Who knows maybe I will soon get a full nights sleep before these guys are born. I have a dr. appt Monday regular check up and hopefully they will schedule my sonogram then. I can't wait to find out the sexes!!

Take care everyone and keep in touch,

Hi Ladies,

Sorry to crash your thread but just had to check in on Dexter. Keeping my eye on you and the twins. So, happy that you were able to find the cause of the bleeding and all is okay with the babies. Congratulations on your 12 week mark and stay strong. I'm sure this too will pass.

Dexter - sorry to hear you have had a scarey few days - I hope you rest up well and things are fine - if the dr is not worried then neither should you be (easier said than done though!)

I'm feeling fairly normal today which is good - just tired with Monday-itus - have finally told people at work including my new boss. Not good timing for him as he has lots of plans for my area but what can you do ?- the baby is more important.

I have my OB appmt on Thursday - it is nearly here - it has been such a long 5 weeks.

How's everyone else doing?

Hi Everyone-
Today I had my dr appt- regular checkup. They did bloodwork to test for spinabifida and we heard both heart beats. Also she measured my belly and it's right where it needs to be. She says I'm 17 wks 1 day, which I thought I was 16 and 5 days. Hmmm somehow I counted wrong.
I get my next u/s on feb 13 that is when we'll find out the sexes of the twins. I can't wait and it seems so long away! But all in all the appt went well and everything looked great.

I hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch

Hi all - hope you are going well. I had an OB appmt today - it took forever to the heartbeat - I was starting to stress. My OB said it was coz the batteries were flat on his machine and were picking up interference. So all i could hear was the faintest little boom boom whereas last time it was really clear. It was a bit disappointing for me but my OB was happy enough

Now I have a very painful right buttock! - apparently hormones, ligaments stretching etc etc. Yesterday I could hardly walk and I may have to see a physio. Always something eh?!

Hi ladies,

Melinda, congratulations on finding out the sex. I am waiting for the surprise.

Kimberli, i would not woory about you measuring bigger, as carrying twins our bumps are going to be larger, over here they just scan to find out the sizes.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

as for me, just about lost my waist, so well into maternity pants now, although i am a long way off tops yet. Having a nightmare finding a stroller we like and fits me and DH, i am only 5'3 and he is 6' so ideally we need one with an adjustable handle. we are looking at the phil & Ted E3 twin side by side, its from New zealand, does anyone know anyone thats used one, feedback would be greatly appreciated.
catch you later

Hi Jayne-
I don't know about the brand of stroller you are looking at but have been told by a few twin parents that the front to back are easier to maneuver than the side by side ones, especially in stores.

Melinda- Congrats on the boy! I can't wait to find out what mine are.

I doing ok. Just have been getting real tired midday/ early evening where I've been taking naps more. The heartburn has chilled a bit but still get headaches. I still can't believe I'm half way through the pregnancy! March 24th I start bedrest and am looking forward to it.

Take care everyone!

Hi ladies, hope were all still doing ok.

Kimberli, have looked at the tandems there are only 3 in the Uk suitable from birth, but personally as the babies get older i would prefer them next to each other and so they can both see whats going onas DH and i do a lot of walking. Also don't know about you but i am only short 5'3 and have tried out the tandems and due to my height i find them difficult to manouver and to get leverage for up and down steps. Out of all we've seen and tried the Phil & Ted seems to fill all our requirements and is only 73cm wide and has 360 degree turning. never thought buying a stroller would be so hard, just want to get the decision sorted. Most twin mums i have spoken to have tried 3 or 4 different ones, so want to try to get it right first time. good luck with your choice.

Hi Jayne,
I agree with you that choosing a stroller is difficult. I'm having a hard time myself here in the states. I like the graco duoglider but not too fond of the patterns. I do like the fact that they have travel systems which includes one car seat and then I'd have to buy the other. I think that is the only thing that I really have had issues with. I'm 5'8 and my husband 6'3 so we're ok as far as the heights go.
I did have a scare today. I have had some lower abdominal gas cramping pain. I called the dr and she told me to try gas x and if the symptoms persist call back. I'm so uncomfortable right now. I've used the bathroom several times but always feel like I'm not done. Hopefully the gasx will relieve the uncomfortableness and will start feeling better tomorrow.
I hope everyone else is doing well. Keep in touch.

Hi all, well I've had my scan at last! That was the longest 7 weeks ever since my first. I'd got myself all worried that something would be wrong but thankfully baby was doing just fine. It wasn't moving much but had a very strong heartbeat and we could see it so very clearly, it seemed to turn and look at us at one point too! It's also measuring 2 days further on than I thought so they gave me the new due date of 26th July which pleased us. I don't get another scan now until 32 weeks! Some people don't get any more at all here so I suppose I should be pleased at that. I feel so much more relaxed now about everything and I can finally tell everyone at work, I think loads of people have probably guessed as I'm looking so much bigger, either that or they think I've really let myself go over Christmas! Like you, Jayne, I'm also rhesus negative so will have to get the extra injections.

It sounds like you're all doing so well which is great. Sorry you had a scare Dexter but so pleased all is fine. It's just so wonderful that we're all here in the 2nd trimester, congratulations everyone!

I've just found out that one of my best friends is 7 weeks pregnant which is fab as we'll be new mums together.

Take care all.
