help - desperately seeking advice

Post by JULES K »

Hi Girls,

This is not quite the forst post I hoed to make over on this side but I am just after some advice.

I had ET on 27th Nov, my test date should have been 11 Dec however af arrived on 4th Dec. After a couple of days I realised that it was a full blown proper af and stopped using the pesseries. Af finished 4 dats ago however I still have bad af type pains and my boobs are really sore and huge (one more so than the other!) and quite veiny. I never bothered doing a pg test on my test date because of the af but I am now wondering why I have these symptoms. This is my 2nd failed ICSI cycle and I didn't have any of these things last time.

Did any of you experience anyhting like this? I know some women continue to have afs during natural pregnancies bit I don't know if it can happen after IVF. I suppose I am just clutching at straws now and it is probably just all the drugs messing with my system but a teeny part of me is thinking maybe it did work and the af was only one embie coming away and the other one is still there. The only problem with that is that I am worrying that because I stopped the pesseries it wouldn't survive anyway.

I suppose I should do a test just to put my mind at rest.

Please give me hope - did any of you have an af but still have a successful result?

Thanks you

Love Julie xx

Hi Julie, I know that my hospital insist that you do a test even if you bleed really heavily - they even asked if I had done one when my first cycle failed. If I were you I would do a test and that way you would know for sure.

I didn't have a full AF - but I did have some bleeding that lasted nearly 5 days - some days quite clotty and still got a +.

Good luck

love

Dolly

Hi Dolly,

I have to go for a scan on 2 January, think I will have completely cracked up by then. I am trying not to get too excited in case there is something wrong. I am naturally a pessimist so I am now thinking that it is ectopic as I have had bleeding and am still getting pains although I know others have had exactly those sypmtoms and gone on to have a successful pregnancy so I suppose you never can tell.

I'm sorry to hear your sad news, do you think you will go again? do you have any frosties?

Love Julie xx

Dear Julie - what a wonderful Christmas miracle!

I didn't have any bleeding, but had such bad AF pains I convinced myself AF was imminent, then tested positive!!! Don't worry about the pessaries - my clinic told me to stop them after I ran out - if you've got a positive they've done their job.

Try to relax and congratulations!
love Sally xxx
Me - severe endo, DH - poor sperm. First IVF ICSI Nov 02 neg. Second IVF/ICSI May 03 Positive.

Hi Jules,

Just want to say congrats!!!!!!!!!! stay positive!!!!!!!!! I too had bleeding and I was convinced it was all over for me when I day 13 I started bleeding and bad AF pains from hell. I tested a day early and got a negative. Come day 14 the day I should of tested 24 hours later I tested positive. I did continue to bleed on and off uptil I was about 18wks and got myself in a panic thinking something would be wrong so I know exactly how you feel. The hospital/clinc couldn't give me a reason why I was bleeding but they scanned me regular and here I am now waiting for the big day.

Hope all goes well with your scan, try and enjoy Christmas, I am sure all will be ok!!

Love
Shell.
34wks 5d pg
xx

pessaries

Post by innie »

i have been reading peassaries in all the message boards, can somebody tell me what it is? I used clomid and pregnyl injection for ovulation induction prior to IUI. I still have to check myself for pg as yet. today is my 11dpiui i think it is too soon to check

Re pesseries.
In my case they were progesterrone pessaries inserted anally  twice a day after egg transfer in the case of IVF/ICSI and continued for 4 weeks. There is no proof, but the extra dose of progesterone may help any new embie implant as the womb lining remains extra thick.
Not sure whether they are used in the case of IUI-I'm sure someone will advise.

best wishes, helenx
