Hello Ladies!

I have been researching all kinds of numbers, etc for IVF, but I think I need your feedback instead! I am preparing for my first IVF and want some info. Can you answer these.....

Me ~ 31; DH ~ 36
how old are you and DH?
Did you get PG on 1st IVF?
How many follicles?
How many eggs retrieved?
How many fertilized?
How many transferred?
What meds were you on?
Did you do injections?
If so, did you do them or DH?
Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help?
How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle?

I am so nervous and anxious to start my cycle. Hopefully I'll start in March or April.

I remember my first IVF too - I felt completely lost. Hopefully this board can help you get over the anxiety. So here's my numbers:

how old are you and DH? 34 and 35
Did you get PG on 1st IVF? no.
How many follicles? 30+
How many eggs retrieved? 20+
How many fertilized? can't recall
How many transferred? 4
What meds were you on? follistim, repronex, lupron
Did you do injections? Yes
If so, did you do them or DH? DH
Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? No.
How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle? 2 days of bedrest after the transfer.

My 1st came out BFN, and I switched RE's after the 2nd. I see a huge difference in protocols between my old RE and this one. Gotta say my new RE is much more thorough. Granted, I read up after the first 2 failed and now feel more comfortable asking my RE questions.

Did you get PG on 1st IVF? I'm hoping so! I'm on my 2ww...my test is this Friday

How many follicles? about 20

How many eggs retrieved? 14

How many fertilized? all of them!

How many transferred? 1 at 5 days (blast)

What meds were you on? bcp, Lupron, Follistim, triggered with Ovidrelle, folic acid, and pre-natal vitamins, right now progesterone shots

Did you do injections? oh yes!

If so, did you do them or DH? Mostly DH, but I had to do some myself (honestly I could have done it all by myself, but I wanted him to be involved...it's been a bonding experience for us, as sick as it may sound)

Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? hmmm...just the "try to eat healthier" general rule, and take it easy right before ER, and up until now! oh...I've been trying to keep my self hydrated (I'm so bad at drinking water, but now has become a natural thing to do). No caffeine!

How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle? As I said, as soon as ER was approaching, I started to behave like a pregnant lady, hahaha, no heavy lifting, try to rest as much as I can fit into my schedule, and took a whole week off from work after ET.

Welcome to the site! Here's my story in a nutshell...

I'm 33 DH 36.
Did you get PG on 1st IVF? No. First cycle was canceled because I ovulated through Lupron.
How many follicles? 14
How many eggs retrieved? 14
How many fertilized? 6 or 7
How many transferred? 3
What meds were you on? 20 units of Lupron ( a ton!) and a lot of Repronex and Gonal F
Did you do injections? Yes. Sometimes DH mixed some drugs when I was too tired. And he did the trigger shot in my butt.

Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? Yes. I stopped exercising like a crazy person. I limited myself to moderate exercise only instead of all the hills and intervals I like to do. I stopped eating trans fats completely. I started eating more dairy products, yogurt, and some cheese. I limited my drinking to one glass of wine a couple of times a week. I ate loads of fresh fruit and veggies, too. I always drink a lot of water.

How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle?

I worked out when I was still in the Lupron phase. But once I got to the fertility meds I only walked, and even that towards the end felt uncomfortable to my ovaries.

I rested a lot day of ER. I took 2 3-hour naps and then slept 10 hours that night. I stayed on the couch for two full days post transfer, only got up to pee, then went back to my desk job but didn't take any more stairs, or lift anything close to 10 pounds, and just chilled.

Don't be nervous. You will do great. Just try to celebrate the little victories and not get too down about things you can't control.

Lost Girl ~ Did you have regular AF cycles? I wonder how often it happens that you ovulate thru Lupron? I suppose there is nothing you can do when that happens? Also, what made you decide to transfer 3? Good luck!

Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? no but i quit all alcohol and caffeine.....

How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle? good amt of rest (i am a competitive tennis player so it was tough)

How many fertilized? will know tomorrow
How many transferred? 2 only for me...i have had 3 c-sections
What meds were you on? Follistim 300ius 5 days, hMG 300ius 5 days
Did you do injections? yes
If so, did you do them or DH? me
Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? no
How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle? just slowed down my exercise a lot

If so, did you do them or DH? He did unless he was working.. I would do them myself. I am a nurse so I did ok!!
Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? Nope.. other than lots of prayers!!
How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle? I work full time but took the day of ER off and the day after.. the day of ET and the day after..

If so, did you do them or DH? I did, no big deal, they don't hurt
Did you eat, drink, or do anything special to help? I ate fresh pineapple the week of the embryo transfer
How much rest/activity did you do during whole cycle? I slowed down quite a bit. My RE said to stay in bed as flat as possible for the rest of the day of the transfer and the whole next day.

It worked, but I miscarried. Fingers crossed for my FET......if only things would move a little faster so I could get this show on the road again.
