March 08 IVF

Post by bhav »

Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum and would like to gather some information regarding IVF.

I am 26 and my hubby is 33. I had been detected with bilateral ovarian cysts and got operated in feb 2007. After the surgery my FSH and LH levels were completely normal. then I got my HSG done and to my surprise i found my both the tubes were blocked. Finally, I was been detected with TB in my uterus. I am taking medicines for TB since sept and my IVF is scheduled for the comming march.

1. Can anyone tell me what all precautions i need to take before IVF?
2. Does the medicines used to cure TB in uterus like- Refampicine, and Ethambutol Hydrochloride have adverse effect on having an IVF cycle?
3. Does having abdominal massage one month prior to IVF will help?

Hi Bhav,

Welcome to this forum. I have found so much support here, and don't think I'd ever be able to get through this whole process without them.

You seem to have been through a lot already. But on the plus side at least you are young and have time on your side.

Blocked tubes will not affect your chances with IVF. In fact for women who had blocked tube(s), IVF was actually a recommended option if they did not want surgery to unblock the tubes.

When you get pregnant naturally, one of your eggs travels from your ovary to your fallopian tube, where it's fertilised and the fertilised egg then travels further down the tube to the womb, where the egg can start growing. IVF takes away the need for your tubes to be used.

I don't know about TB in the uterus, but maybe someone else can help you.

Hope that puts your mind to rest. And best of luck for your IV cycle in March

Angel is right IVF was meant, in the beginning, for women with blocked tubes. So IVF is a great choice for you. However, I have no idea about TB. Good Luck!
