Hi Egghead friends,

It’s certainly been very quiet on the boards just recently. Just popping in to say:

Kelly- GOOD LUCK with your scan on Friday and on your trip to the Czech Republic. Only a few more days, and I’m sure your lining is developing nicely. How long will you be away? Have a safe journey.

BigJ – hope all is well with you. Please keep us posted.

Jen1 – how are you getting on? Hope you’ve got over the snuffles at last. None of my docs have ever been in favour of the long bed rest after transfer. In fact they once encouraged us to take a holiday break straight after ET even though it meant travelling several hours in the car. So I think it will be fine with you travelling back the next day. Sounds like you’ve done all you can to prepare for your trip so you should now just try and relax and keep up the PMA. Sending loads of baby dust your way.

We got an OK from the clinic last Thursday to proceed on our next attempt although I had the feeling that the clinic would have preferred to postpone start of treatment. Maybe because donors are scarce at the moment or because of a 2-week break end of Jan / beginning of Feb.

This time the protocol is without the decapeptyl injections but a considerably increased dosage of progynova. First lining check will be on cycle day 9 or 10. A sort of short protocol instead of a long one, I suppose. No tentative plan about when I might be getting to transfer. I think the doc is waiting to see how my lining develops. On their standard programme of meds you’re supposed to be able to hold out for over 40 days(!), if needed, until transfer.

In the meantime, all of a sudden, things seem to be catching up with me and my body is starting to give me signs that this whole journey is effecting me more than I’ve been prepared to admit. I’ve made a few more acu appointments, am keeping up the yoga and hope I soon get back into the more positive, energetic mode I was in before Christmas.

Greetings to all and hope all is well.

Bye for now

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to pop in before taking off for Czech tomorrow . I went for my ultrasound this morning and my lining is 1.0 so it is 'perfect... apparently'. I am so excited. We leave tomorrow afternoon and won't be back until Jan 30th. Our first doctor's appointment is on Monday and then the ER is on Wednesday. Apparently the donor is doing really well although they won't tell us how many follicles they see. So, the transfer will either be next Saturday (the 26th) or a week Monday (the 28th).

Right now it just feels like we are going on a holiday which is fun! Since we don't have much involvement for the first week, we can just enjoy ourselves and hopefully be completely relaxed by the time the ET rolls around.

I hope that everyone else is doing well. Sonia, that is great news that they are getting you right back into another cycle. Hopefully their new approach works for you!

Let's make sure that 2008 starts off with a bang and that we are joining BigJ on the 'other side'!

I'll be on line periodically while in Czech so I'll check in as I know more.

Thinking of you all!

Hi girls

Sonia - Glad to hear you are starting another cycle. Dont listen to the clinic, its what you want not them and if your ready, you go for it girl.

Kelly - Good luck with your trip, looks like we might be having ET on the same date. I get back the 30th to so look forward to catching up.

Scan all ok, lining 4.9 so its all on track.
Fly to Barcelona on the 26th until the 29th and ET on the 28th, which means testing on the 11th  Probably home on the 30th.

So everything is moving forward, just praying that this time i get some good news, so tired of always being the one with a run or negs by my name

Ok going out tonight with the girls but only soda water and lime passing my lips-----mega boring but can laugh at everyone else making a prat of themselves.

Have a good weekend.

Hi girls

Yeah Jen - I agree - it is certainly an 'experience' being the only sober one in a room full of people completely hammered! For some entertainment, make sure you have a camera ready so you can at least get some leverage out of the evening!

Things have been a bit schizaphrenic around here... What started off as a mock cycle for DE, then turned into a possible FET (using my own eggs left over from my last cycle). A Donor recipient then dropped out last week due lining problems and I was bumped up the list as her back up!

So Jen1D, KellyM - looks likely that I may be cycling with you guys this week! I'm possibly sharing a donor who has ER this wed 23rd and ET this Fri or Sat 26th.

I have one last scan this Wed, but my lining is only around 7-8mm. My clinic prefers 8-10mm, optimally at 10mm. Can I ask you girls - What does your clinic prefer your lining thickness to be at time of transfer? Should I still go ahead if it is not 'perfect' as I don't want to waste all our $$ on a transfer with less than perfect conditions. My doc says that there is still time for it to thicken up before transfer??

Hi to everyone - Jen Babes (where are you girl?!), Big J (how was your first scan?)

Hi Andrea! That is exciting news. We will definitely be on the same schedule as our donor is having ER on Wed too.

I went in for my appointment with the clinic in Zlin this morning and he measured my lining at 9.1mm (slightly off from what I was told on Friday but no big deal). He said that 9.1 was great and nothing to be concerned with because it will thicken before ET on Sat or Mon. When did you have your last scan?

I have read varying numbers for thickness. I would say that your lining will be in good shape if right now you are measuring 7-8mm. It'll thicken before Wed and then again before ET.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi girls

am lying on the sofa trying not to throw up, the nausea is terrible...but I know its a lovely problem to have, and how.

i am still in shock from the scan last Monday, one heart beat, two heart beats and then hiding at the back a third heartbeat OMG    The third little one however was a lot smaller than dates by one week, which my gynae said means probably it will just fade away, but the twins (separate bedrooms as dh puts it) were perfect at 6weeks 2 days which was excalty where they should have been on the scan day.

My gynae stayed dead calm, I was shaking (on my own sadly dh was working), as I had braced myself for another diappointment, despite the high betas, last time had high betas and no embie (was blighted ovum) so as you will understand one gets a bit kicked dog syndrome..I had my hands over my eyes and she said I think you had better look at this!

This is my fourth DE/ICSI and 4th pregnancy so ISIDA must be doing something right! They are also in shock, as I had 3 or 4 transferred each time before and only ever singleton pregnancy, which is why we transferred 4 this time eeeeeeeeeeeek still inspite of all the stats I suppose its always a risk. They have offered embryo reduction if it does stay at 3, but we are against that in principle, so we will let nature take its course.

We are delighted of course, still very shocked, but so far so good, now 7 weeks 2 days (always a milestone for me as was date of my first miscarriage), no bleeding, and just exaggerated pg symptoms.

I am 45 in March, have fibroids, autoimmne thyroid, dh has mega sperm issues, so I do hope that motivates you to keep trying. Biggest hugs to ladies cycling this coming week,

Good news for us girls so far, brilliant, hope it all continues

Just wanted to ask a question. Saw you talking about lining. Mine was 5.7 on Tue and i still had 6 days to go until ET. Do you think this is ok? Saw that your lining was 9.1 Kelly wow. I thought it was meant to be between 7-8?? Bit confused now.

Thanks for your help.

Cant believe we are off to IM on Saturday, just doesnt feel like its happening.

Jen, I don't know what the right answer is. I think it is like the bed rest thing - doctors say different things. My RE was quite happy with 9.1 - I was concerned it was too thick but he said it was okay. I think with 6 days to go to ET you will be fine. Best of luck on you transfer. I'll be thinking of you!

My transfer has been confirmed for Monday, a 5 day transfer. Our donor ended up with 16 eggs, 12 of which fertilized. We won't get another update until we arrive for our ET so who knows how many there will be. We did confirm with the RE that we'll transfer 3 given our previous experience so I hope that one of the works!!

Andrea, hope that all is moving along as planned for you.

Well this is it, the last day before i go to barcelona.

The only worry this time is that our embies thaw successfully as we have no more for standby and would have to think about using the donated programme but would much rather have our own----so fingers crossed. ET is on the 28th at 12.00 so all fingers crossed at 11 for the embies please---watch your colleagues at work might think your all mad if you have a minute silence and a finger crossing session

Kelly - looks like we will have our legs up in the stirrups on the same day.
Wish we could have more than 2 put back at ET but they dont allow it. I think you have a much better chance of a bfp if your having 3 put in. Good luck, will be thinking of you.

Ok am off. Will be back in UK on the 29th but staying at s-in-l so we dont travel too much then home on the 30th.

Hi girls

Big J - had goose bumps when I read your post - what a great 'problem' to have! I can't imagine going from no family, to having 4 children in a matter of a few years! Bummer about the nausea but I've heard it's a very good sign in early pregnancy...All the best for a smooth 9 months and keep us posted!

Well, I've had a bit of a 'hairy' week. My scan on Wed showed fluid in the lining which was unexplained and my lining had actually compacted to 7.2mm. If the fluid wasn't expelled all would be cancelled... But my last scan today was all "all systems go". Fluid had disappeared and lining had reached a respectible 8.1mm :D I feel a bit guilty now because I was so gutted that it would be cancelled that DH and I went out that night and had a few drinks thinking it was all over...(oops!) i was really upset at the time, but that seemed to have done the trick! Jenn - your ques about lining thickness has me completely confused too. My clinic prefers 8-10mm but has seen pregnancies from around 6.5mm and above 12mm - so who knows?!

Kelly and Jen - Good luck for Monday. I'll be up bright and early tomorrow (Sat) for my transfer. As I egg shared this month (half the cost, but half as many eggs tho..), only two 3 day embryos are going along for the ride this time, the remaining 3 will become my little totsicles.

Have a great weekend to everyone else and I'll be thinking of my cycling buddies on Monday :D

Hi girls,

BigJ – amazing news! Wow! Congratulations. How are you coping? Take good care of yourself and your little ones. Looking forward to hear about your progress.

Jen1 – hope I’m not too late to wish you a safe journey and all the best for your transfer!!! I’m not too sure about the best lining thickness either, but with a few days still to go, it sounds fine to me. I’ve had problems with my lining reducing but that has to do with the special protocol of meds of my clinic. I’ll be thinking of you on Monday at 12 cos we’re continental time here too!

Kelly - it’s great to have you reporting in online from your travels. Sounds like you have very good numbers already to work on. Hope you’ve managed to get into a holiday mode and have time to relax and enjoy the trip too. Good luck for you on Monday!

Hey Andrea, you’re cycling too! Good news. Wishing you a relaxing day tomorrow at ET.

My week has been a bit up and down too. AF arrived on Tuesday and I was ready to start on my transfer cycle but .. yes, you guessed it… we’ve got to delay again. This time because of the clinic’s winter break. Actually we were sort of expecting that so I’m quite OK about it. I’m relieved to have finally got more information and a rough plan.

Sending baby dust to all and thinking of you!

Love
Sonia

hi ladies just a quickie to wish jen and Kelly best of luck today am sending hormone vibes in your direction

Still 3 on board, but nr 3 is still lagging, I might have to consider a reduction if abnormalities show at next scan,as nr 3 could put the twins at risk (and me) ideally poor little nr 3 will fade away by itslef (God bless it), I hate the thought of any intervention.

Praying for all of you cycling at the moment, keep faith.
