Hey Sage!
Woo hoo, you're almost there! Don't even start thinking about how everybody does it differently, you'll make yourself even crazier than you'll already get :D
Just think, it also depends on the woman too....each is so different...so it's hard to know how different the clinics are.

Hi everyone! I am home and ER went really well! It was somewhat of a crazy day, though. They got 12 eggs!!! I was given a special medication...cause apparantly I am at risk for OHSS. Not because of follie count...but because my estradiol level was over 3000. Interesting.

Due to minor complications 2 months ago with my back surgeryand anesthesia...they opted to not do anesthesia...but instead did a spinal. So I was wide awake through the whole thing! It was really cool once I got over the anxiety of it all. I actually watched the whole procedure on a tv screen and counted with the doc each egg they retrieved. Then I watch the embryologist on the tv screen after the doc was done with his part...actually put them in the petrie dish and start the fertilization part of it. They said it was highly unusual that I got to do all of that. It was truly awesome!!!

I asked the doc while he was doing his thing if there could be more than 1 egg per follicle ...he said no. That if they got more eggs than the last reported follicle count...it is just because...some follicles were hiding when the counted them at the last ultrasound.

I actually had 8 eggs instead of 7 out of my left ovary because...one follicle was hiding. And intead of 7 out of the right...they only got 4 due to the fact my right ovary went shy again. Thank God for the spinal...a nurse had to push really really hard to get my right ovary down enough for the doc to get them. They kept making the comment that basically he was finding them in the dark and doing an awesome job! The doc was very thrilled to get the 4 out of that side since you couldnt see anything on the screen. Yayyy!

I didnt sleep at all last night ...I was sooo nervous. So I came straight home to sleep....and am going back to sleep again. I will post personals when I wake up. Nite Nite. :D

Mia- Hey you closet IVF'r. So are you going to trigger tomorrow? I never heard anything about messages. I suppose it would be okay.

Good luck to Amy, Loopie, and Rin- let me know how the shot goes?

Kbear- I would think its just the PIO making you up and down. Enjoy your weekend!!

Rio- Stay away from the HPT!! Easy for me to say. I'll probably be the one buying a dozen of them during my 2ww.

I'll be back tomorrow and let you all know what I find out. I hope it's good news!

TAMMY : I've been hovering all day waiting for you..12!!! That's fantastic!! Wow. And how cool that you got to watch.
Interesting that you're at risk for OHSS....I thought only younger girls got that. Looks like I will be over 3000 too....I was 2600 yesterday...hmmm.
Maybe it's the protocol.
And I always thought there might be 2 in one...but they're just hiding...you are just a fountain of knowledge now :D
Rest Rest Rest...I'm really happy for you!

I'm ON Loopie!!! Amy!!
TRIGGER tonight at 11.45 Pacific & ER 11.45 on Sunday.

Then I have to go in again tomorrow morning for b/w because my E2 is 2739. I guess they have to monitor when it gets around 3000 like Tammy said. Damn, I was looking forward to one day away from that clinic :D

Woo hoo!!

Tammys- Wow. What an incredible experience. That sounds amazing. Good luck with fertilization!

Congrats to everyone triggering tonight! Wishing you the best this weekend with ER.

I had my baseline bloodwork and US today- everything looks good and stims are starting tomorrow morning! I have to figure out the pen thing again. My nurse orientation was a few weeks ago...

I have to do 150 Gonal F AM, PM; 5 U Lupron PM, Doxycycline orally. Then bloodwork on tuesday AM. Do you do the Gonal F in the stomach or the leg? I cant remember. Something was supposed to be in the leg.

Someone told me massage is good but they shouldnt do your feet or your heels or something cause there are trigger points there that may not be good for pregnant people. Dont know anymore than that.

Oh, I also found out that exercise during stims is generally a no- no cause your ovaries become huge and you are at more risk for ovarian torsion. But, you can exercise the first few days of stimming cause they are still small and have not reached pumpkin size yet.

is anyone else taking Doxycycline? Do you know why DH has to take it also?

Doxycycline

Post by amy27 »

Hi Marin,
I start my Doxy tomorrow and it is to prevent an infection when they do the ER since they are going through what they consider a "dirty area." I was taken aback with this but they explained that your mouth is a dirty area.. it only means "non sterile" area. I am not sure why DH would need to take it but maybe to keep his donation free of infection too?
Best ofluck..

Ok, no fair, everyone comes out to play whenI am gone :(. On a happy note I got a massage!! But now I am sore all over and feeling nauseus :( Need to drink lots of water.. It was very relaxing though!

Marin: Gonal in stomache. The instructions for the pen are easy to follow :) But I was very nervous the first night!

Loopie and Rin - have fun triggering :)

Weezie: Done any packing today?? yeah right!

Tammy: That is such a blessing, very cool. Glad they were able to numb you up at least! I thought there was more than one egg in each follie, thanks for letting me know. You got a great number :) Will they do a 3dt???

Rio: Yep, my clinic said the same thing about smelly stuff, I hope I remember that on the day!

Sage: YeAHHH! Glad AF decided to finally show up!! DOn't second guess anything now - your future embies need positive attitude girlie!!

Well I think Rinnie might be right. My E2 is only 572, so they might push me a day. Seems pretty low with all those follies, but I am not gonna worry. I will know more tomorrow when I go in for MORE b/w poor veins.. Then I have to teach for 6 hours!

Ok, need to get ready for my classes tomorrow!!
Good luck everyone!!

Cornybaby - thanks for the info on ICSI. I had no idea shell of the eggs being too thick! We'll definitely do the ICSI - i would hate to think that this didn't work because of money we didn't spend.

Rio - reduction is tricky. I think it's similar to abortion like Mia said, so that's really a personal choice. We're only implanting one embryo if it's strong enough, so hopefully we won't be felt with the decision of reduction or carrying 3-4 babies! I just wanted something on TV about this lady that had 2 embyos put back and they both split so she had 2 sets of twins inside her!! It freaked me out :?

Jomae - sorry to hear about your car accident! LIke you need to deal with this on top of everything else!

Loopie - the shots are going ok. I am going in for another u/s and b/w tomorrow and sunday - hopefully i'm still on track for ER on 1/30. I think the shots are getting to me though - i'm more moody now and still bloated! I yelled at my husband yesterday for no reason :)
Hope your dh is better - kidney stones aren't fun i'm sure :(

Mia -you're having ER Monday? Finally!! I am also stimming 7 days but I think i'll be on it for a few more according to my schedule - maybe Wed.

Weezie - I'll fill you guys in tomorrow on the # of follies :) i dont think i could handle 40 - i'm not feeling too good with the 20 something i have :) they said not to come in today, so that was a nice relief. my husband is coming with me tomorrow to the u/s - it'll be fun for him to see what goes on. Well maybe not FUN, but you know... :)

Loopie - good luck on the trigger and ER this weekend!!!

rio - whats the progesterone gel??
When do i start the progesterone shots? i have to decide if i want the shots or suppositories and get them ordered asap. any last minute advise on which one you prefer? i am leaning towards the shots at this point because of convenience. i just hope they don't hurt :(

mia - i think the massage is fine, maybe get one of those prenatal massages some spas have, so they avoid or stomach area or something. whatever works to relax you. and $39 is great!!

Tammy - glad ER went well!!! how was the trigger shot? painful?
That's awesome that you got to see the whole thing!!! Was your DH there too? So you were awake but didn't feel anything? was it like an epidural??

Marin - i've been doing all my shots in the stomach, but i can do them all in the leg in i want. i think it might hurt more so i haven't tried it
my DH took doxycycline. it's supposed to get rid of any infection and keep it away. but he took his end of last month. i took BC Pills instead of doxy. i think i'lll be on more doxy during ER or ET

wow wow wow. I am sick so went to bed really early yesterday and this is what I get! So many posts! Too many to reply to but I think I got the jist of everyone! Lots going on with all you women! sheesh!

As for ICSI I had to get it done because husband has odd shaped heads and would not be able to dig into my eggs. haha. So we are ICSI people here! My re told me that birth defects are low low low with it so we are not too worried about it.

The progesterone shots are starting to get bad. I got pushed up to 2cc and my muscles where they go are just getting worn out and bruised. So they are getting bad because there is no "clean" place to go. ugh. But it will all be worth it right?!?! Hopefully! I am wanting to POAS tomorrow morning since it is day 10 but I prob wont because I dont want a false anything then get my hopes up or down. Maybe Monday though. My breasts are HUGE which is kinda nice since I am small up there lol. But that can be from the progesterone. Also, just a full feeling down there and bloated to the point it is really hard to put on my jeans and snap them. That is just a recent thing though. The 2ww is getting harder but I just have to remember that next Thursday I get tested! Which I think is odd because it will not be exactly 2 weeks...Sat would be 2 weeks. So whatever. Gives me a little knowledge earlier than normal I suppose.

I got a bad cold and can not take anything! STINKS! I am taking Tylenol for the fever though and sleeping a lot. If it gets worse I may have to go to the doc. for some meds.

Good luck to all you girls out there! Esp. the ones with ER and ET!!
