EC and ET aftercare

Post by Lavender1 »

Hi there

I wonder if anyone can help. I'm due to go for EC on Weds 30th and then for ET the Monday following. Trying to sort out work etc and can't remember which one (or is it both?) that I'm not supposed to drive for 48 hours after? Can anyone help? Maybe I should keep work as it is and just call in sick if necessary at the time.

Please advise if possible.

Thank you!

Hi.

You cannot drive after the EC and if possible do not drive after ET as well.

Take few days off to rest after ET.

Good luck

I was told not to drive after e/r--mainly because they put you under. The anesthia makes you tired/drowsy, etc. so that's the main reason not to drive. Nothing was ever said about after the e/t. I've been to 2 clinics, and they actually let you drive home if your partner can't make it to drive you home. The 2nd clinic will give you vallium to help out, but it's not required (at the first clinic they didn't offer anything). If you take the vallium, then you need a ride home--more because of the meds they give you. It's a good idea to rest as much as possible after the e/r. Both clinics I've been to have always maintained that you can go back to work after e/t (although one of them does it in the afternoons), but just to limit any strenous exercise, heavy lifting, etc. until at least the pregnancy test. I suppose every clinic and person is different though as I've heard people taking a couple of days off around the procedure.
