Hi Everyone,
Nancy -congrats on the newest ultrasound! I wish I could have one each week. I could never give up chocolate. I drink a hot chocolate Ovaltine every morning since I gave up coffee. I doubt there's enough caffeine in it to have any effect.
Shari -thanks for the swimsuit advice. I'm hoping my tummy has a growth spurt & I can get a maternity suit. That way I can use it for water areobics through the pregnancy.
I had my first OB appt this morning. I had a very good 1st impression, the office seems very organized & the nurses were very nice. I got a big goody bag with all kinds of stuff. And I checked with the new MD too about the Mexico trip and she said "that sounds great. I'm jealous." So now I can report to my family that I gotten the OK from 2 MD's and maybe they'll calm down.

Hello ladies! Well, I had my 10 week appt and it went wonderful! The baby has a heartbeat of like 198 - really high! Everything is moving along well and we are so excited. My doppler machine arrived today - can't wait to try it out tonight!! :) My last appt with the clinic is Feb 6th and then I will be move to my regular OB. My progesterone shots stop on the 4th - THANK GOD!!!!! :) :)

Marybeth - you will be happy to know that I had them do a VERY thorough check and there is only one baby. I had no hide-aways!!! But trust me, she checked all over - actually kind of painful!! :D So, you appear to be our lone twin carrier for the Aug thread - you go girl! However, taylorjools seems to be giving you a run for your money with triplets!!!

Rebecca - Glad your appt went well. And I agree - go enjoy yourself in Mexico!!! I know some people get carried away with fears over everything, but I for one am not one of them!! I will probably go in May when a friend of mine gets married there. I never got caught up in all the worries about not drinking wine, caffeine, etc during stimming either. I ate what I wanted, drank coffee, had my glasses of wine, kept exercising, etc. I think people get carried away with fear sometimes. Now, with that being said, I have not drank anymore wine now that I am pregnant and have now given up coffee. I was having like half-cup every now and then, but decided it wasn't worth it. But GAWD do I miss my WINE!!!! :D Anyway, I am excited for you!!! Go enjoy your vacation!!!! :) Oh - and for a bathing suit - what about oen of those tankinis (sp?)??? Those are so cute and they partially hide/show your belly. That is what I want to get!

Shari - so, how was the marternity clothes shopping? I am trying to hang in there for a while and hope I don't get there just yet. However, it is either that or my butt needs some bigger clothes!! :?

dancinnancy - I will not give up chocolate!! No way. I love it. Hmmm...do you think that is why I have already put on 4-5 pounds??? Perhaps I need to reconsider. :? Glad to hear your ultrasound went well! I am excited that everything has worked out for you, me, and Marybeth. It has been great to share this experience with you all!

Seltzer - Congrats on busting out and buying the maternity pants!!! I guess I will try to give it another couple of weeks at least...although I don't know how long I can wait!!! Oh - and I am busting out the doppler tonight!!! Will let you know how it goes!!!

Taylorjools - Welcome!!! Glad to have you join us and get fat alongside us!!! Exciting news you have going on!!! Wow - 3 of them possibly!!! I can't imagine. Let us know how your scan goes tomorrow!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

Rebecca-
I'm so glad your initial OB appt. was a positive one, that's so important. I'm also happy she OK'd your Mexico trip, what a relief! I like Tina's tankini suggestion. They sell ones that have a belly-slimming effect, I hope that works out for you... or that you get your bump and 'fill out' a maternity suit by then  . I never though of hot Ovaltine! That might be a good compromise. Hmmm...

Tina-
I agree with you. I also gave up wine and coffee, but chocolate? There is not enough caffeine in the occasional chocolate piece to have any effect. My doctor put everything into perspective for me when I DO freak out about the 'small stuff'. He smiles and shakes his head 'no' (meaning 'no you don't need to worry about that') and that calms me down. As far as my maternity shopping, I got one very good pair of pants that are SUPER comfy, and I may just wear them every day towards the end, as they have that full belly panel and you don't feel like you're wearing anything! BTW, regarding your doppler, don't get scared if you don't hear anything for a while. I'm pretty sure I read you have to be further along for it to 'work'. Anyway, if you do hear the heartbeat, great, and can't wait to hear about it. If you don't, don't fret :)

Well, off to try to sleep again!

Health and hugs,
Shari

Hi Ladies
I'm sorry I've been soooo bad at keeping up with this thread lately.
I had my first scan at the local hospital yesterday (the dating scan) and it was amazing. I've had no scans since the 6 week one at the clinic so it was great to see how much the baby has changed - actually looks like a baby now :)
I was really nervous before the scan, I've been feeling so well that I was thinking it could all be my imagination and maybe there's nothing there at all. Crazy I know but I was so relieved to see a heartbeat anyway.
They changed my dates a little so now I'm due 2nd August. They'd better not bring it forward too much more or I'll have to move to the July thread :?
I hope eveyone is well

Hey all-
Not to belabor the topic of 'chocolate/hot chocolate/coffee', but I remember reading a post by someone recently saying that their SIL said 'chocolate is the real culprit'. Well I just did some reading about caffeine content of hot chocolate vs. brewed coffee. The coffee has about 130 (mg.?) per 8 oz., and HC has only 5! In Israel there is no Ovaltine. They have something called 'shokolit' which is darned good. DH bought me a canister of it last night so I could have it this morning. MMMMM. It gave me a bit of a boost, too, which I've been missing! I feel like I could actually DO stuff now.

Health and hugs all, catch you gals later...

Congrats on reaching the 12 week mark. Have a healthy 2nd trimester :) (and 3rd, after that).

Squeezan-
Congrats on your u/s. I know, there's nothing like seeing the little cutie to put your mind at ease.

Hi Everyone,
I get to stop my 3 times/day progesterone supp today and also get to stop the baby aspirin! I'm really happy to have made the 12 week mark -thanks for the congrats Shari, it is really nice to be here. Just a few more days for you. I'm glad you enjoyed the chocolate too. I suppose if I get gestational diabetes I'll stop drinking it every morning, but until then it's replaced my coffee.
Squeez -I'm glad you got to see the baby on ultrasound again. I imagine it was a really big change since the 6 week mark. Also, even if they up your due date again to July, I hate to tell you but we're not letting you go to the other thread! You're stuck with us.
Tina -I love your attitude about not being afraid of everything. I've been trying to be more like that(some days I am, some days not so much). I think what I'm feeling right now though, is that I'm just plain tired of worrying over everything. I've had years of worrying about getting pregnant. Now I just want to relax & enjoy my pregnancy. I'm trying to just let my sister & mom worry about this pregnancy.
I hope everyone else is well. Happy Friday!

Well, I guess I've got you girls to back me up on the fact that chocolate is not the enemy! I'll go right on eating my Paul Newman's organic oreos with a glass of milk everynight for my desert, thank you very much! Has anyone had them?! They are fantastic! I thought my SIL was being a bit...over-protective, and you've all confirmed that for me!

Is anyone on the Crinone Cream instead of the progesterone pills/supps? I'm so ready to be done with them! I guess I shouldn't complain since I never had to do the PIO shots.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Hi Everyone,

Week 11 and still no sign(s) of morning sickness yet. I had an appt with my OB/GYN this afternoon. He did an ultrasound. (I saw my baby's face!) My baby was squirming like a worm or boogie-ing as the other girls put it. We haven't had the go ahead from the doctor to let the family in on the exciting news. He requested that we wait till after I completed the first trimester. My husband can't wait till my next appt for an ultrasound, in two weeks. He and I will be off on the same day so he can come with me.

No cravings either. I just have to continue my Progesterone 2cc x 2/day until further notice. I was on 2cc x 1/day up until two weeks ago. I started to spot ... Eventually I will be brought down again to 1x/day as my doctor says.

Have a great weekend!

P.S. - when do we start putting lotion on the tummy.

I did it...I broke down and went shopping for maternity pants! So freakin' comfortable...& cheap! I've never really liked shopping at Old Navy, but today I did! I bought two pairs of cords with the low rise banded waist for $4 each! Not too shabby! So much of the stuff was picked over & the place was an unbelievable mess. I gave myself 10 minutes to just look for pants, and it was a success! I'm obviously nowhere near wearing maternity tops yet, but I think I'll mingle these pants in with my 'regualr' pants - which have jumped up from 4 to 6 in the matter of like a week's time. As far as weight gain goes, that really hasn't been steady - sometimes the scale will show a gain of a 2 or 3 pounds, other times it shows my pre-pregnancy weight...I don't know.

tryw8 - No morning sickness here either! Maybe it has something to do with all the drugs/stims we all had to take a few months back. Maybe that helped build up our resistance to the pukey pukes? Maybe it's karma, we've gone through so much that somehow we've been spared? I hope!

Hi Everyone,
I've got another maternity clothes tip. If anyone finds themselves looking for a new swimsuit, just go try on a maternity suit. My old swimsuit was way too tight and I was convinced that I'm too small for a maternity suit. Even though I switched to lowrise maternity jeans, I've only gained 2-3 pounds and still wear many of my same shirts. Well I tried on several tankini's in bigger sizes than I'm used to wearing and nothing looked right. Finally I went to MotherHood Maternity & I picked 2 suits to try -a small & a medium. They both looked gigantic & I was a little embarrassed to even try them on. The joke was on me! I couldn't even fit into the small and the medium I think will just fit for a few month! I looked SO pregnant in the swimsuit, it was a little shocking.
Hope everyone's had a good weekend.
Rebecca

Hi everyone - so good to read all of your posts. I've been so busy lately so I haven't posted in a while. I turned 40 last week, ugh. But, aside from the aging factor, it has been an awesome birthday celebration. My DP and I went away to Providence, RI last night & stayed in a hotel & went out to eat. It was our first night away from our son (he's 13 months) and it went really well.

I am TOTALLY in the maternity pants really only because of massive amounts of bloating. I ended up calling my OB's office because of my abdominal distension/bloating/pain, and the nurse said it was likely severe gas (I don't know...). So I am cutting all gassy foods from my diet and taking GasX. So far it's been working so-so. I cannot eat anywhere the quantity of food I ate at a meal before I got pregnant...after every meal I am doubled over in pain. It sucks. Anyone else experiencing GI issues?

TinaO - please let me know about the doppler and how it works for you. My next OB appt. is 1/31, and the OB will use the doppler on me. I am kind of nervous he won't find the heartbeat...

Oh yes, I forgot I have good news! I "passed" the first round of the nuchal u/s testing. Next I get my blood re-drawn in a few weeks and then they give me my risk estimate. Keep your fingers crossed.

Sounds like everyone's doing well, and that's what I like to hear (read)!

Seltzer-
Happy happy birthday! I know you 'ugh'ed your 40 year milestone, and I understand, but just think... you are in a place where you are fulfilling your life's dream. Your family will be complete soon enough, that's a wonderful place to be on your birthday. You are truly blessed!

Sorry about the GI stuff. I did have a few bad stomach aches, but not constant. Ginger/lemongrass tea helped, as well as cola. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Also, congrats on the good outcome of the 1st nuchal trans. result. Good luck for the next part.

Up here in the middle of the night. I think I will try to get some sleep soon.

Health and hugs to all...

Well, chalk me up to becoming the fatty of our group. I have officially gained 5 pounds. I just don't get it!!! My husband and I just tracked how far I have been walking and I am going a little over 3 miles...and I do this at least 4 times a week. Plus I eat really healthy - I always have. My best friend is really overweight and it has always bothered her how tiny I am, so when I told her I had gained a little over 5 pounds, she got so excited. I told her by this summer I am going to be haning out in her swimming pool "whaling" around in it all summer. We both laughed about it. She and her husband are wonderful friends, and they are having so much fun with me gaining weight. It is pretty funny I guess. I need to get things under control though. I am on a path to gain over 35 pounds according to the chart I looked at the other day. Geez - just call me Tubby Tina. Oh well - I am still in my regular pants, but I did just start using one of those belly bands - and I LOVE IT! My college roommate hated hers, so she gave it to me. Have you guys tried them yet? They rock! It allows you to unbutton your pants and just pull the band over it. I really like it. :)

seltzer - Ok, so about the doppler...I have mixed emotions. We have used it twice and we can find the baby's heartbeat, but it does take a little while and I don't know...it just doesn't quite give me the satisfaction I wanted. Maybe because it takes a little while to find the heartbeat and then we got one that has the heartbeat register on it, but it always shows a much lower # than what it really is at the doc's office. In a way I like it, but then in a way I think maybe it was a waste to get it. I think it is because I am still only 10 1/2 weeks, so it is hard to find the heartbeat and then when you do, you kind of think to yourself..."Ok, why did I even second-guess myself? Of course, the heartbeat is there." Does that make sense? Anyway, decide if you think it is really something you need. Personally, I think I will send it back after a couple of months.
P.S. Happy Birthday!

Rebecca - congrats on your bathing suit! You are ready to go now!!! :)

Dancinnancy - I am glad you stepped up and bought maternity pants. I am going to have to break down at some point. I am going to try to hold out for a few more weeks. Who knows though with the way I am gaining weight!!! :)

tryw8 - I am pretty much like you - no major morning sickness, no real cravings...just pretty much normal. It is so funny that we worry about it. I look at my boobs and keep thinking...hhmmmm....they don't look like they are growing. Who cares??? Geez - I feel like I am so silly for even thinking about stuff like that. My college roommate is 5 months pregnant and I swear she acts like she has every pregnancy symptom there is and I find myself thinking there is something wrong with me. Again, who cares??? I need to quit comparing myself, you know?

Marybeth - where are you? Probably still celebrating, huh?

Oh - by the way, guess what I did last week? I had to go out of town on business again and coincidentally it was to the city where my college roommate lives, so we met after work and went to Babies-R-Us and got her registered...well, and we ended up getting me registered for some of the basics at the same time. It was so fun!!! I mean, since we are both first time moms it was so helpful to figure it out together. I know it is way too early for me, but I thought it was such a great time to do it since I was with her. We were there for 3 1/2 hours. But I checked with some of my friends (and she did, too) and learned what the best monitor is, best breast pump, etc so it made it easier. Anyway, it was fun. I just couldn't register for a lot of things yet since we don't know what we are having. I also ordered the Consumer Reports book on baby stuff to see what has the best ratings. I will be happy to share with all of you what I learn.

Ok, I need to get some work done. Chat with you all later!!!

You're not having any morning sickness or cravings also? OMG ... we rock! I just feel normal. My boobs don't look any bigger. But my DH will say otherwise, he says it looks firmer. From what I hear and what I'm reading, for those of us who are not experiencing morning sickness, consider ourselves blessed.

My co-worker is also PG. She's having morning sickness on a daily basis. One day she would show up at work and most days, she calls in sick. I'd be bummed that happened to me. Here's the kicker ... we're both due in the same month. I didn't want to press her for a day because then I'd be stepping out of my comfort zone. I haven't told anyone at work that I'm pregnant yet. My DH hopes that we can wait another month. Have to tell our parents first, though.

Any of you pee in the middle of the night? I swear ... I empty my bladder before I go to bed and then I get up in the middle to go. Then I can't go back to sleep. I guess I better get used to it.
