Just wondering if there is anything to do to increase my chances of implantation. I have gone through 1 fresh ivf and 2 fets all with bfn. I met with a new re today who said my embryos were excellent as were all the maternal factors (ie. lining, hormones, etc.). I went to acupuncture, ate pineapple, drank milk, bed rest for 48 hours after et, etc. I feel like I've done almost everything in my control.
I do have PCOS so my new re has put me on metformin which I'll start tonight. Any chance metformin can help me with implantation?
I just don't know what else to do... any advice?
Thanks, Ghost.

I was going to ask the same question!! Thanks for asking it! My problem is very similar to yours.
Anyone, any advice on what helps with implantation?

have either of you asked your RE if you are capable of carrying the baby? After 2 failed IVF's I did a lot of reading and learned about our luteal phases and all that. When I consulted with my new RE - that was one of my first questions after his standard "presentation". He then suggested that I have a uterine exam and a biopsy just to be sure. My results were good. I'm still in the tww but I feel more comfortable this time around. Had I not asked he would not have performed the test. I'm still suprised at how easily RE's convince us to start IVF without checking that we can carry the baby to term. Hope this helps...

Goosemis, thanks for your response. No, I've never had a endometrial biopsy and my new re did mention that we could do that. He said that we would do a mock transfer where I would do estrogen and progesterone just like I would in a real cycle and then do a biopsy. They would test my lining to make sure everything is okay. The problem with this is that it's a great procedure from a diagnostic standpoint, but there's not much treatment if it comes back that there is a problem. Also, it would take a few months to do a mock and then prepare for the real thing.
I have a 3 1/2 year old little girl so I know that I can do this. At least, I know that at one point I could. I've had 3 miscarriages since then so maybe something has changed with me.
That's a great suggestion and I'll ask my re about it again. Thanks!

They don't yet have good techniques for verifying endometrial receptivity at the proper time. The ultrasounds that verify thickness and trilaminar appearance are helpful but not conclusive.
I know we use Metformin, but I've never studied it myself. I'll see if I can ask an RE tomorrow.
Is there anything we can do in terms of diet and vitamins to help with the implantation? I've had a good linning both times--first time it was 13.5 and second it was 16.5--but still no implantation. Both times Dr. was pleased with the look of the embryos.
Is there anything we can do to help with the implantation?
Thanks

I cannot begin to know why your cycles failed, but clearly it was not related to a thin endometrium. Those numbers reflect a thick lining. In fact, 16.5 is extremely thick, at least by our standards.
But thick is not the same as receptive. The changes that indicate a receptive endometrium are microscopic and cannot be seen on ultrasound.
I don't know of any dietary means of improving the endometrium.
I'd be wary of any herbal remedies. There is one that claims to improve fertility by inducing an LH surge. If true, that would be one way to ruin an IVF cycle. There's another that vaguely implies that it boosts progesterone levels. Again, this can potentially ruin an IVF cycle. I suspect they don't actually do what they claim. Bottom line is to get your doctor's approval before starting anything unusual.
