I am 8 weeks prego and very happy... However, my RE says I need to continue my PIO shots until the 2/20 and my BUM is killing me! Any advice on how to get rid of the pain? Heating pad, etc,
It hurts so bad even at work and I'm getting little sleep because of the pain!
Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Webgirl,
Congrats on the pregnancy! How much PIO do you have to inject everyday? During my last FET I had 2cc shots & could barely tolerate them. It was so much worse than the 1cc shot for the IVF cycle. My suggestion is to break the dose into smaller amounts. For example, instead of 2cc in one hip try 1cc in each hip every night. Or if you're taking 1cc then try 1/2 cc in one hip & 1/2cc in your thigh. I know no one wants more shots, but smaller amounts are better tolerated.
Hope that helps,

webgirl, I got cellulites on both of my sides towards the end of my shuts...it was bad, I couldn't touch it, it was red and hard as a rock. My doctor finally put me on tablets...ask your doctor if he/she can switch you to tablets, it will save you a lot of pain and sleepless nights. It took 2 months for my butt to heal. I hope that your case is not as severe.
Congratulations! I know that when my DH started doing the IM Progesterone shots, I had gotten almost like an allergic reaction. I was reacting with the oil(s) that the progesterone was sitting in. It would itch like you wouldn't believe. The girls at work thought I was nuts by scratching the area. My excuse was that I had just changed to a different detergent and that my pants waistband was making the area itchy ... both sides. My husband and I have kept really quiet about going through the IVF/FET procedures. We decided not to share with anyone until we got pregnant. Then it would be a matter of not telling them about how.
Anyways, I was told to ice area down before the injection. Then to follow with a warm compress ... not too long because the heat will irritate area to keep swelling down. The irritation and swelling is what I am all to familiar with.
Currently, I was placed on Progesterone 2cc daily and then it was upped to 2cc twice a day about two weeks ago when I started to spot. I could never give these IM shots to myself. Also, I'm on Estradiol Valerate .4cc x2/week. Besides, the clinic and my doctor had specifically told my husband that he would be giving me the shots, though. He willingly learned. Then I made sure that they drew the targets on my backside so that he wouldn't miss.
The clinic told me that there was a couple that the wife resulted walking with a limp because the husband was giving the shot in the wrong area. His sarcastic answer was, "I figure I give it to her there since she's more padded." It caused her one leg to go numb.
Please check if your injecting into the correct area. My "bum" doesn't hurt, it's the hip area. Also ask about the Progesterone suppositories. ... it's easy to do but causes lots of discharge.

tryw8, I think that you were just lucky:) You see, my hubby was giving the injections in the right area, and he was switching sides, even changed positions for an inch up, down, left or right...My bum simply gave up...doctor told us that it would happened even if I got shots from the professionals every day; it is a matter of amount. I guess every skin is different.
WOW! Thanks to each of you for your replies and alternatives.. I will check them out ASAP...
Thanks again and best of luck to each of you!!
