Pains a week after FET - advice needed

Post by jcw »

Hi,

I had 3 day 3 embryos transferred on the 22nd Jan and today (31st) I've been having a few stomach pains and a little backache similar to when AF is due (though not as consistent and sore). There is no spotting and I am currently lying down. Have been feeling ok so far - a little light-headed the past few days but that's all.

Has anyone else experienced any pains/cramps on their TWW. I just wanted to get some advice and perhaps a little piece of mind as I'm shaking with fear that it's not going to work.

My PT isn't until the 9th Feb so I've still got a while to find out for sure - might confine myself to bedrest just incase!.

Thanks
juila

Oh girl don't worry! I had cramps during my two week wait, too. You'll be fine. Just rest, and relax, and try to do things that get your mind off things but don't require a lot of activity. I limited stairs that I took. Hard in NYC. I also didn't lift anything close to 10lbs and I didn't do any housework. I just chilled... now I'm 7 weeks along with a baby.
Good luck to you!

Oh sweetie, don't worry!! Mild cramps, and sometimes more than mild, are very normal and can be a good sign. I have had two healthy pregnancies and with both, for the first few weeks had menstrual like cramps. It's just your body getting ready, implantantion, or hormones; haven't the slightest idea why, but I do know that it is normal. I have also done 2 fresch cycles that ended in BFN and had no cramping what so ever, and started spotting without cramping. If you're nervous, give yourself as much rest as you need. I had all the laundry done, cooked meals ahead and froze them, and DH has taken care of everything else. I have also avoided taking stairs if possible just like lostgirl. Got my BFP yesterday, still have on and off cramping today, so...

Only 10 more days, hang in there!! Sticky Baby Dust to you.

Thank you all for your replies - yes, probably worrying over nothing but you know how your mind exagerates (sp?) everything at this time. It's very reassuring to hear other people's experiences.

Now to try to take my mind of it all - fortunatley I have an essay to write (doing a correspondence degree with a British University)!

Thanks again and congratulations to you all.

Hi Julia

Just wanted to wish you luck on your 2WW.

I'm also living in Singapore and had a transfer last Sat (26th). My test date is Feb 11th. It was originally on the 9th - same as yours! but because of Chinese New year, our clinic is closed  - which means a more agonising prolonged wait...!

Each 2WW has been physically different for me, except for the obsessive thinking and constant over analysing of every twinge and symptom! I think because of what we all go through just to get to this stage, most of us are guilty of this! You don't need to confine yourself to bedrest - just take it easy, obviously no exercise or house work, but you can still go back to work or go out if you feel up to it by the second week.

As for me - it's easy to dole out the advice but harder to swallow myself - I'm a bl**dy nervous wreck at the moment...! But trying to stay positive

Hi Andrea

Thank you and good luck to you too on your TWW. Just interested - what clinic are you at?? Looks like I should be very grateful that mine is open on the Saturday (the pt should have been on the 7th).

Thinking back, I don't seem to have had pains in my previous TWWs but as you say it's always different. Fortunatley I don't work (full-time student) and have a cleaner once a week so can definitely take it easy and my DH has been so good.

Anyhow, here's to staying positive! :D

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Julia

I'm at CARE centre at Paragon. I've only just changed clinics in Dec and so far they've been great. The location is a bit too convenient tho as it's so tempting to do a little shopping afterwards in my favourite shopping street along Orchard Road!

Which clinic are you at? Wish mine was open at Chinese New year (for selfish reasons!), but kind of glad the staff are getting a break as these docs work so hard!!

This afternoon I've got a date with the sofa and a stack of DVDs, so I'm glad that the monsoon seaon has kicked in and it's raining - then you don't feel so guilty lying about the house doing nothing! And yes, I have a part time house keeper too, which is great for times like these! - one of the perks about living in Asia!

Take care and keep me updated!

Hi Angela,

I'm at the Thomson Fertility Clinic at Thomson Medical Centre. Have been there since Aug/Sep and so far so good.

Your clinic sounds very handy, perhaps a little too handy for shopping!

Not too long to go now
