Hi Girls:

I know I've been MIA but working full time all week and coming home to thinking about posting just exhausts me even more! I have such swollen legs and feet and I have to lay down when I get home. I have slept better the last 2 nights and I know its because of the chiropractic adjustments. My back still bothers me but its not excrutiating like it has been. In fact my second appt was a lot easier to bear than the first. I go again on Tuesday and I am scheduled for a massage on the 18th - one hour - she does pregnant ladies!!! I am so excited!!!

I see there has been a lot of talk about BFing... I BF'd with my son for 6 months. It did take about 3-5 days for "real milk" to come in but I am so glad I did it. I did get clogged and BOY is THAT ever painful but the hot washcloths did the trick. Actually, if you're talking about sleep BFing is better for sleep. I had my son in bed wih me (HAD to, I was all stitched up as he tore through to my rectum AND I had an episiotomy and couldn't sit up at the edge of the bed - it took 10 minutes to get out of bed and i didn't want to have to do THAT several times a night!). Anyway, I would roll over, stick a boob in his mouth and we would both fall asleep together. It wokred like that for almost 3 weeks until I healed enough to put him in the basinett - BUT there was no getting up to warm up a bottle or anything like that. AND WC... it most certainly DOES NOT take 45 minutes to feed a baby by breast!!! It is 10 minutes tops. The hind milk (which is thicker and has more fat in it) comes out after about 5 good minutes of sucking. Believe me a LOT of milk comes out of a full breast and baby gets full quite quickly if you get your milk supply up. To get he supply up you have to determine the baby's eating schedule and be sure you stick to it (even if you have to pump) because those are actual times you will feel fullness in your breast and are ready to feed the litte bugger. Once the baby starts to skip certain times (as they do when they get older) then you express juat enough to get relief and eventually you won't get full during those times. But be careful because every now and then a baby WILL skip a meal but only because they are growig and then the next day VOILA they want that meal time again. You'll know when to adjust. It's SOOOO worth it.

OK, what is UP with the 3D/4D U/S stuff??? My pics are beautiful and if they hadn't come out right due to the babies positions or the machine etc I would have gotten another appt free!!! The place I went to doesn't let you leave with crappy pictures!!! My babies look just like photos of sleeping infants!!! My baby boy looks exactly like his father!!! I cannot believe the quality of these pics. If you have it done you have to go to a place that offers a reschedule for free if you are not satifisfied. I actually saw this place's picture album before I booked them and thought the quality was excellent. The only thing that threw me was the fact that the technician was a man!!! This place is owned and operated my a couple and they are wonderful... Please don't judge the 3D/4D techniques based on a few pics and please don't be upset Mandy - its just all part of the process. Heck a few years back there was no such thing as soft tissue U/S. I know your baby will be the highlight of your life!!!

So ladies, pray for me to make it at work for another 4 weeks!! I NEED to so that I am still on payroll when contracts come out. I NEED my contract prior to Sept so I have peace of mind about returning to my job. I won't lose a job because I am tenured but I don't want to be transferred to another dept either (that's their prerogative [sp?] if I am not there or on payroll for contracting at the end of May). I cannot take ANY days off either as I have EXACTLY the numbers of days I need to make it through contract month PLUS I found out I cannot return to work in June - contract rules - so I will be out a whole months pay except for the meager disability check I receive for the month of March (In addition to my pay because I have enough sick time to cover me through the end of May if I don't take ANY time off in Feb). So pray I make it - I get so swollen everyday AND exhausted. The good news is that I read an article explaining that ACOG has found no difference in PTL whether a woman is on or not on bed rest so I hope I'm good to go to week 31 plus 2 days.

I am so big I cannot imagine how very big I will be in 10 weeks when I deliver. My OB and I talked about delivering by c-sec on April 11th. My baby shower is March 1st... so much to do!!!!

Hope all is well with you all. I got a call from LisaPa today (because I hadn't posted in a while and she got worried) and she sounds so great and optimistic!!! I just know she is going to have a baby girl!!!

Speaking of hearing from people where's BABYB???? Let us know how you are sweetie!!!

Hi Girls, Thankyou for your words of support, I am feeling much better about the whole thing now, although I still don't like the pictures or want to share them, I realise it just doesn't matter. I agree that it probably a lot to do with hormones too, it is unlike me to get tearful about anything, but even pampers adverts seem to get to me at the moment.

The clinic did offer to do them again for me, but truthfully the whole process felt so ugly that I would not want to do it again, just to get some decent pictures.

I know I still love my little baby, I think it was just a bit of a shock!

Love to you all

Mandy

Hello!

I agree with everything Cocoa said re: breastfeeding.

I pumped/nursed solely for almost 9 months. I hope to make it that long with the twins, but I have no idea if I 'can'? Like I did with my son, I am going to give it about 6 weeks or so.... Hoping I can!!!! If you want sleep..this is def the way to go. I like you WC, am a SLEEPER! No doubt, I need sleep..like 8 hours (Ha..I know that won't be happeneing..but one can dream!) so...when he would cry...into bed...stick the boob in the mouth, and off to sleep we went. I was never worried about turning over on him etc. During this time I mostly slept in the guest bedroom, but sometimes with the hubby....when the baby fell back asleep he would go right back in the cradle nextg to me.

At around the 9 month mark is when I gave him formula (so until then I pumped, and gave him that in the bottle)..and he was FINE with it..He was a very easy baby in terms of switching from breast to (breastmilk) bottle to bottle to formula. I am not sure everyone is so 'lucky'. Around 8 weeks is when I started giving him a bottle (with breast milk, that I pumped) You want to wait just until things are good for both of you, but not so long to introduce it that he won't take it. I figure we are def going to need the help with twins. Did you see that post about the podee bottle...check it out.... amazing...something the twins mom club around here said they COULD NOT live without. (www.podee.com)

And, not to mention..if I can't end up nursing..I will NO DOUBT pump, and try very hard to give them only that until atleast 6-7 months. If you want the physical effects of nursing (like..umm...getting you back into shape real quick :) I think you need to go about 4 months or so....SO I look at this like plusses for BOTH of us! Call me whatever you want, but I breastfeed for me too! I also hear it reduces the risk of breast cancer, and I can use that with my family background!

Good luck to all the ladies and whatever you decide on. Never feel judged by anyone, as whatever you do choose, is going to be the right choice....FOR YOU!

Hey Kelly...

Thanks for the "podee" info :-) How old is your son?daughter? now? My son is 14 and he's very excited about the babies. I don't think he realizes there's a lot of crying involved though... Nevertheless, I agree with your comments about BFing helping to get you back into shape and also to help reduce the risk of breast cancer. Both of those statements have been documented in fact and so I feel that even with the TREMENDOUS pain that can come with clogged ducts (and my milk came in so furiously that I DID get clogged) it is so worth it...

Thank you WC and all you other ladies for your prayers to get me through the next 4 weeks of work HEALTHY!!!! I would really like to work until March 20th so that I can collect my pay check through the end of the school year and I will try but my minimum is Feb 29th.

So my baby shower is Sat, March 1st. I don't know about you ladies but nothing nursery wise has been done here as I simply have NO energy for that after working F/T days. I am so praying for snow days during the month of Feb!!! I would love to begin the nursery process but the a$$hole floor guy I "hired" has been jerking me around and I may have to get a lawyer involved. This guy actually LIED to get out of insallation 2 weeks ago telling me he needed an emergency hernia operation!!!. Well, my girlfriend (who feels bad for referring me to him) called his job and he had taken NO DAYS OFF FROM WORK!!! She will call him this week and ask for him by name without saying who's calling - he works 5:30am -1:30pm so is not like he can't get MY job done - the a$$!!!    I know, not very Christian like but people like that should be jailed... Here I am PAYING for service and materials while pregnant and wanting to get my house in order before I cannot move anymore and he's dissing me... Ahhhh... I have to stop typing about it cause I am really getting pissed...!!!

I hope you are all feeling well... I went to church and confirmation class this morning and at this point I have eaten lunch, read through some of my catechism book and took ONE tylenol pm so I can get a nice nap. I want to sleep as much as possible but sleep during the daylight hours has always been difficult for me. Hope this works today!!!

Love you all,

Hello Cocoa,
Your contractor guy does sound lilke an @#$#@$, can you hire another one? Also, I don't know your situation, but may be you can get your DH involved , I mean sometimes guys can figure it out faster.
We had a couple of people come in and do the insulation in the baby's room, then had to do the sheet rock, now my DH will paint and we have a person come in and do the chair rail. All of this is quite expensive and requires a lot of time.
I have been having really bad headaches and feeling kinda nauseous, anyone else feel this way?
Well, gotta run.

Woodcliff,
All I can say is that you can't please everyone. I am having two showers, one is with my friends the other one is with family.
So, i didn't register because I am tired and just didn't feel like spending hours at the baby store, also felt awkward to register for anything that is more than 50 buks because I thought that it would put people in the position like they had to spend more money. That said, I just asked for gift certificates, that way everybody can decide their spending limit, plus I will only have 10 people including me for my friends baby shower.
Now some of my friends are upset because in their opinion asking for gift certificates is the same as asking for money. I don't need any money!!!! We can perfectly afford it on our own!!!! I just wanted people to come over ( I am organizing my own baby shower at my house, since everybody asked about the event, but nobody offered to help) and celebrate the arrival of my daughter.
Well, with family baby shower I sent people very small lists of basic stuff that i would need ones the baby is here and they were all upset that i didn't give that much choice in presents!!! Gosh, people are soooooo difficult!!!!! Now, I don't even want any showers, too much stress :x :x
The moral of my story is not to try to please everyone, but do what is best for YOU. After all YOU are the one who is PREGNANT!!!!!

Mandy,

I'm so sorry to hear your 4d scan didn't give you nice results. When I had mine I was at the clinic for over 2 hours and I was extremely uncomfortable. The wasn't 2 hours of scanning! But she kept trying without success so I had to go for a walk to try and get the babies to change position. The sonographer was very good and she seemed to make it her "mission" to send me away with some good images.

If it's any consolation for the majority of the scanning time my little ones looked like mashed potato too, exactly as you described! The images I posted were there just briefly when everything seemed to come into focus for a second.

So don't be disheartened, I'm sure he/she is as cute as I'm sure you are imagining.

I'm off to pick up my new car this afternoon! Woohooo!!

Love, Hayley

xx

Hello,
Woodcliff, so what is going on with your hernia? I didn;t get it, can you have an operation while you are pregnant??? Or would it have to be after the babies are born? I hope that you don't have a hernia, it won't be much fun right now.
I am not a doctor, but may be you need a complete bedrest right now,or even hospital stay with observation if you fell such horriblepain . My friend, who had twins , was hospitalized at week 27 untill she gave birth(32 weeks) because they wanted to monitor her closely since she a had a lot of contractions.
Ladies, I hope you are all doing wonderfull!!!
I went tomy OB today for my regular visit and she measured my belly and said that i am on the lower end of norm. Dang it, now i am worried. I have gained 22.5 pounds and i am 27 weeks and 3 days. I guess it is a good weight gain, but i've only gained 1 pound since my last visit (3 weeks ago) :?
Well, have to go eat something :)
