Cycle buddies in March/April anyone?

Post by nicaliw »

Hi there, just seeking cycle buddies for my FET in early April. I will begin BCP pills on day 3 of my next cycle which is due at the end of this month. I really enjoyed sharing stories with my cycle buds last time, so anyone care to join me on this adventure???????
I know I'm a little early but i thought it would give us chance to get to know each other's stories so far.

Hey-- I am doing another fresh cycle march/april. I began BC pills last night. I think mostly treatment will be in March, with the 2ww extending into April. I am part of the dec/jan thread, but I just told those girls if someone doesnt start a march/april I was going to soon. There are some girls from there that will probably be joining us also. We had many with BFNs this time. Jan was my 1st IVF, and I am still completely devastated that it didnt wrok for DH and I. We are both 25, male factor...although after my last IVF, poss poor egg quality as well. My protocol should be changing for this cycle, so I'll be interested to see the change in my meds. Nicaliw--you dont have a profile...I know I have seen your name before...FET in april? How many frosties do you have?

Hi! Is it okay if I join you girls? As you can see from my signature, I'm no stranger to this TTC ordeal!! My first attempt at IVF was canceled just a week ago. I lurked on the JAN/FEB thread while I was stimming, but I never posted. It's just as well because I was devasted when I got the call that my cycle was canceled. BUT...I'm done having a pity party for myself and thought it would be helpful if I actually participated on these threads this time!

Neffi221: looks like you and I are on the same schedule. I also started BCPs last night. They have me tentatively scheduled for ER on March 14th.

Okay, PMA!! It's our turn now, right?!?

Hi Nicaliw!!

We cycled last time in November! I will be doing my FET March 19th!! I've been on BCP since the beginning of this month. How many embies are you hoping to transfer this time? We transferred 3 the last time and hope to get 4 transferred this next time.

Neffi211.... I was devastated after my first IVF in November, too. I think I'm going into this one with a different mentality. I have to think more positively and decided to try some acupuncture to help me RELAX. I just went in for the first time last week and will be going in once a week. The night that I went I got the best sleep! I don't know if it was a coincidence or related to acupuncture. Anyway, I'm also going to watch "The Secret". :D

rlk... Why the cancelled IVF? Your ER will be here in no time! It looks like we will probably have our ET around the same time.

BTW... Here's my story...
ME: 34
DH: 35
3 failed IUIs (At the time of the 2nd IUI,DH had a high fever causing #'s to drop. By the 3rd IUI, his numbers were still on the lower end so IVF was recommended)
1st IVF- Nov 07 BFN
2nd IVF- FET scheduled for March 19th

I will be doing a FET sometime at the end of March very begining of April. I did my 2nd fresh cycle in December 07 I did a FET in September 07 BFN (CHEMICIAL PREGNANCY) and 2nd fresh cycle BFN. I am hoping for a BFP with this FET. I have 4 frozen embies that I hope all survive the thaw they were frozen on day 3 but my RE waits until day 5 to do the FET. I don't know if they will put me on BC the first frozen I wasn't but my 2nd fresh I was. Does it really make a difference?
Anyone know the success rate for the FET?????

Hello Brenda and Ann

Ann-- What is "The Secret"? I have thought also about acupuncture, But Im really not sure I have the extra $ for it.

Brenda-- I dont know the success rates for FET, I did hear somewhere that they are lower than a fresh cycle, but there are many women who do many fresh cycles all with BFN and then get there BFP w/ their FET! SO good luck to you! DH and I are in a shared risk program, so we haev 6 fresh cycles to do with the $ that we have spent! Thank goodness.

Hi Brenda! My RE has told me the same thing that Neffi has already mentioned about FETs. He also reiterated that some women can only get pregnant with FETs because the RE has more "control over the lining". I'm not sure if that's the right wording. I'm hoping I'm one of those women!!

Neffi... From what I know (because I haven't watched it yet), the "Secret" is based on the Law of Attraction and says your attitude about certain things that are happening in your life can truly affect their outcomes. I guess it's about the power of positive thinking. And I think they have some interviews from people who have had some amazing things happen to them because they used this "Law" or way of thinking. The first 20 minutes of the video is on YouTube. However, be forewarned, it's quite cheesy in the beginning. Once people start talking about the Secret, then it starts getting a little more interesting (and of course, that's when the 20 minutes end).

My DH and I signed up for a "Refund Plan" with our clinic. It's good for only one fresh cycle and any embryos we have frozen. That's great Neffi that yours comes with 6 FRESH cycles!! And you're young, too, which increases your chances for success!

As far as the acupuncture goes, it's covered under our insurance and I didn't even know it! Of course, we have to pay the deductible first before the sessions are covered, but if you haven't done so already you should call your insurance company and see if they'll cover it.

Hi girls! Well, 2 BCPs down and 17 to go before I start Lupron. Who knew IVF was such a waiting game?!?

nicaliw, brenda3, ann d: it must be exciting to be having an FET! You must have good quality embryos if they progressed enough to be able to be cryopreserved! Yay!

neffi211, ann d: my cycles keep getting canceled because it's hard for them to control my cycles. I guess it's because of the PCOS?!? They had to cancel my first IUI because I had too many follicles--they were afraid I'd be pregnant with sextuplets. Although, with the way things have been going for me, I'm wondering if I should have taken the chance!
My first IVF was canceled because I was responding too quickly in the beginning (my E2 was 312 on D4). They were afraid that I'd hyperstimulate so they decreased my meds, but, unfortunately, that made my E2 levels start to decrease dramatically. So...my cycle was canceled. Sigh.

Anyway, enough about me! I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend! I have to say, it's really nice to "meet" you women. It makes this process so much easier when you can talk to people who know what you're going through.

Hi Ladies,

Can I join you too? I feel like a veteran on IVFs! I'm hoping the 3rd time is a charm! We are trying another fresh IVF cycle in a few weeks...waiting on AF to arrive around 2/21. We have 5 frozen from previous cycles, but none are good quality.

I'm so glad someone else asked the question on acupuncture. I'm torn on whether to try this too. Without insurance coverage on any infertility, $75 a visit gets to be expensive. Could y'all reply with success/failure if you've tried acupuncture?

Thanks and GL to all of you!

Cheryl-- There was a post on here awhile ago, from what I read it didnt seem to make a difference w/ or w/o acupuncture. I dont know, I guess I should check if my insurance covers it.

Ann d-- that sounds interesting, I should check it out on U Tube...although, Im not into corny stuff :D it'll be hard to get past the beginning. Your refund plan doesnt sound too bad.... Im sure my 6 fresh cycles was more $....thats the only kind of guarantee they offer. I have no insurance coverage, but meds are covered...I only spent like $200 the first cycle, so that was the only good thing I guess

Rlk1-- well I hope you are one of the women that responds well to FET!!!
:D

As for me, just taking BCP...is March here yet?? Im interested to talk to my RE on Monday and get a calendar! One thing I have definitely learned through this process is patience! :D It sucks though!

Hi Ladies - Hope I can join....

I will be starting BCPs for cycle #4 when af arrives next....currently on CD #8...so about 3 weeks left.

I will be doing chinese medicine and acupuncture since that was a good formula for me with cycle #3.

Just had all my pre-tests (fsh, e2, etc.) and hysteroscopy last week and everything looked good, so we're off.....March/April will be here soon.

Good luck to e1!!!

Hi girls--

I hope you're having a good weekend!

Suzhan--thanks for joining this thread! It's nice to see that you have a child from IVF--give us (me!) hope that this crazy ordeal we put ourselves through actually works!

Neffi--thanks for the encouragement. Although...I have to actually make it to a retrieval this time before I can consider doing an FET!! ARGH!!

Okay, I'm off. Just thought I'd check in with everyone!

WOW, what a dunce I am.....ha ha.....I started this thread then got so busy I didn't get back to it for a few days....but I'm back after a long weekend of work (I'm a labor nurse) and looking forward to 3 days off now.
I'm happy to see so many of you here and getting to know you all. Of course, I am familiar with Anne D since we've been here before together. So cool to be cycling with you again.

I thought I'd try to keep a list of our stages in the cycle so we can keep up with each other, so here goes. Feel free to correct it if I get your info mixed up.

Neffi211: IVF #2 March/April. Started BCP 2/7.

rlk1: cancelled cyle January. Started BCP 2/7. ER planned for March 14th.

ann d: 2nd cycle, FET planned for March 19th.

Brenda3 FET planned for the end of March/beginning of April

Cheryl010120: 3rd fresh cycle soon. Waiting for AF, due around 2/21

suzhan: Starting cycle number 4 when AF arrives, due around March 1st (I think)

nicaliw: Cycle day 13, start BCP next cycle day 3, FET planned for around April 4th. 2nd attempt, MC at 5 wks after BFP IVF#1 Nov 07.

I don't know about the rest of you but I find it easier to keep things straight in my head if I can look at a list.

So, a little about me. My DH had orchitis during his first marriage, after having 3 kids and was told he wouldn't father any more kids. Then his wife got pregnant again, so he has 4! I have a son who is 7 yrs old and no apparent fertility issues of my own. Soon after we got married we met with out RE who was very confident that he could help us with IVF with ICSI. We purchased a refund package which includes 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles. Our first IVF went well, I was a good responder and had to coast with no stimming meds for several days cause my E2 was sky high and was at risk for OHSS. We had 24 follicles, 19 embryos, 6 blasts....we transferred 2 and froze 4. I did get a BFP but sadly lost it only a few short days after finding out we were pregnant. I have spent the past 2 months feeling really frustrated waiting for my beta to drop to zero (It took 7 weeks!) then waiting for AF to arrive. My RE wants me to wait for one full cycle before begining meds for my FET. I'll be using BCP, lupron and estrogen. I'm glad to have a tenative date to finally work towards. I'm excited and hopeful but scared at the same time. I don't want to let myself be too positive because the let down is very hard if it doesn't work. I think I might try accupuncture this time. I was just reading your posts and decided to check if my insurance covers it and they do cover 80%.....not bad. I think it will be worth it to give it a try. I read that FET's have a slightly lower success rate than fresh cycles so I guess I need to do all I can to improve my chances.

Suzhan....what kind fo chinese medicine will you be using? I'm interested in this cause when I was waiting for AF I read up about which herbs may be used to encourage AF's arrival. There were several suggestions, but the most gentle/first line approach was ginger...so I bought some ginger tea and drank 2 cups then AF arrived.!! ....coincidence? maybe, but you never know.

Neffi211....speaking of patience...do you know where I can get some? I used up all my patience waiting for my beta to drop. I am naturally an impatient person so I am right there with you, this whole process is a true test of our patience.

Brenda3...looks like you and I are going to be on a similar schedule since my FET is planned for early April. Of course, it does depend on AF's arrival being on time, hopefully before the end of the month.

Its great to meet you all, I'm so excited for us all to get things moving over the next few weeks......looking forward to lots fo BFP's!

Hi there - I'm currently on a blend of chinese herbs that is supposed to help strengthen the blood (?) but will eventually move on to various herbs that support overall reproductive health. I probably will drink red raspberry leaf tea as well 1x/day (once I go get some.....) I take co-enzyme q10 daily (this little substance support mitochondria, which play an important role in embryo formation and I do believe it helped my embryo quality which was pretty pitiful in my first 2 cycles and excellent in cycle #3.) I take a prenatal daily and next month will supplement that with higher doses of folic acid. I've just started acupuncture and will be doing that a couple of times per month until transfer day and will do it before and after transfer.....So, that's the plan! Whew....

Nicali - thanks for putting the list together, it is helpful to see everyone's plan at a glance. It sounds like your chances are excellent, although it always seems like such a long wait between cycles. I'm sure before we know it we'll all be starting the "process"!

I look forward to getting to know everyone over the next few weeks and supporting eachother in this journey!

- Suzhan
