Hello,
Mandy,
Great job on the hospital bag!!! Well, I don't know about UK hospital, but here in the States I think they provide practically everything except really warm socks. At least that is what all of my friends said who had babies ( c section or regular). Also, I don't think that you would really need the baby towel in the hospital. Oh, also, a lot of my friends recommended stool softeners, i guess it makes it much easier to go after delivery.
Sorry, I am not much help with the bag stuff
I hope everybody is doing great!!!!!
Vlada :D :D :D

Since everyone was talking about their hospital bags and what to pack..funny short story...

When I had my son, I had packed a couple of outfits for him...well it was time to go home and I got all ready, got some extra's (diapers etc) for the baby.... and while it was August and hot out..he was only dressed in a little shirt (from the hospital) and his diaper. So the nurse comes in and I grab him...get in the wheelchair and I'm like..OK let's go. The nurse looked at me like I was crazy, and she was was like....Umm....Aren't you going to dress him? It still hadn't dawned on me..then like 10 seconds later I realized I had never even put any clothes on him!!! I couldn't believe it! All the work I put into picking an outfit, and I never even got him dressed! (And to be honest, at that point..I didn't care WHAT outfit he had on! I was just ready to go!) I knew from that point on...it was going to be a long couple of months :) We still laugh about it.

WC - You asked about blood pressure....when should you start 'worrying'? Last I took mine was 138/70 - this was at the chiropracter, so she said that 70 was the important number and that was good.

Speaking of Chiropracter...ladies...I am a believer! I have never been to the chiro.....never done accupuncture or really into any of that kind of thing. Well my back and groin have been hurting so terribly, this was really my only option to try. Can't go on pain meds or have surgery etc.....

SO I went, and UNBELIEVABLE!! I felt so good the next mornign when I woke up..and I only woke up during the night to go to the washroom TWICE, instead of the usual 5 times. It was as if she made soom room in there and the baby was not directly on top of my bladder. The chiro specializes in pregnant women and uses the 'Webster Technique'...which is pretty interesting when you read about it. So no real 'adjusting'. If you have insurance that covers it, and your back and or groin are killing you. TRY IT! You might be amazed. Oh..and all was well..until I left the house the next morning and slipped on the ice outside..and now it hurts twice as much as it did before!! Good thing I am going to see her again, tonight!

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Cocoa, I started with the leg cramps about 6-8 weeks ago bad enough that I was hopping out of bed 3-5 times a night to strech my calve. So talked with the Dr. bananas are good but he also recommeded orange juice with calcium and drink more water. Argh more water I told him I was already floating but I try to alternate bananas one day and the OJ the next it has been working. I am getting cramps maybe once a week and usually only once or twice at night. Also it has been so long since my last post but I have been reading and I hope I meet your DH beacuae I would like to slp the shit out of him!

Hey Ladies!!!

You are all so awesome!!!

Kelly - I LOVE your "naked baby syndrome" story    On the day I got to bring (take?!? - I am a master at the English language - really - but never seem to be able to get the bring/take thing...) my son home (he was janudiced and stayed in the hospital for one day longer than I) it just so happened that I had his outfit over to the side of the nursery bed where he DIDN'T PEE... We have his first "momma changing him during peepee fountain" on video!!! Even though I had to completely change the onsie and the diaper his clothes were dry quite by accident... Oh, and I have been to the chiropractor three times and my next appointment is this Wed ahhhhh the relief. She also specializes in pregnant woman (a God given gift) and is quite good. I will have to ask her about the method you mention but though she does use a tool for my hips she has "cracked" my upper back which has been excruciating - even more so before I saw her... YES!!! Chiropractics!!!

WC - my shower is on March 1st and it cannot come soon enough as I am big as a house. I have gained 39lbs so far (as of today at 28w 5d) and I once again spent the day in L&D yesterday with PTL contractions... the doctor had pout me on oral terbutaline last week but I wasn't taking it every 4 hours like the prescription calls for but rather every 6 (it just makes you feel like crap - shakey) but now I take it sometimes every 3 1/2 hours because I contract a lot - no cervical changes though - thank God!!! My cankles are just sooo bad by the time I get home from work BUT I have had great blood pressure - 110/68 today at the docs so no worries even though there are trace amounts of protein in my urine. Apparently that is common... Good news... the floor/carpet guy is doing everything this coming weekend... FINALLY - pray he doesn't cop out - I hate that!!! At least my adorable (personality) electrician is a good guy - I know him through friends from church. Our parish is so big though, with so many Masses, that I don't see him there but I do hear from him pretty often and we haven't even set a date for the work yet!!! He'll do it when I hit bed rest...

Aliann!!!! WOW - great to "hear" from you!!!! How ARE you?!?!?! How is the baby???? Do you know if the baby is a girl or boy? Do you want to know?? I had to tell Vlada she was having a girl when everyone she knows kept saying it was a boy... she's a couple days over 28w... - Thank you so much for the advice on the leg cramps... I bought more bananas on Saturday and I only buy no pulp calcium OJ. I never really ate/drank either but have been for about 2 months so I just can't figure out why I had these terrible cramps but I haven't had them since (THANK YOU JESUS!!!). I totally get the "having to stand up" thing - even my foot had started cramping!!! And THANK YOU - I want to slap the sh$# out of him (DH) too. He's a big ass and at this point I cannot believe I am just so done but I am. You would think I would be emotional (being pregnant and all) but I really should have known I couldn't believe him when he was making all his empty promises and then to add insult to injury!!!! - geez am I married to Kevin Federline?!!??! No... WORSE...

Well, ladies... pray I make it through work to at least Feb 29th... I really do like working because I like my job but I am also a control freak!!! and want to do MY work myself. Alas, I have to hand over the baton for a time but I'll get over it once the beebs are here...

We all seem to be in the same (BIG) boat but hang in there ladies - the best is yet to come!!!

Hi ladies,

Lisa, i just sent you a PM but I'm not sure it went - had a computer glitch half way through. Let me know if you didn't get it.

Cocoa, hope you're doing OK - you sound like a workaholic but I totally understand as those pay checks are important. Just take really good care of yourself.

kelly, your story was sweet - it actually made me log on to a preemie baby site and start looking at outfits for the hospital as I could have been in the same situation. I realised that newborn in the US usually means 7lbs so I figured that we might need a couple of preemie outfits.

One question to the ladies who have had children before - do you need the babies in tops and bottoms rather than onsies at the start? just wondering if a onsie rubs on their little belly buttons before the cord falls off. any other advise for new outfits? It's hard not knowing the sexes as everything seems to be blue or pink!

So I hit 28 weeks yesterday!! very proud of my babies for doing so well. We also had a dr appointment and scheduled my C section for 14th April - that's 8.5 weeks!!! I will be 37 weeks to the date. Suddenly feels like there is a lot to do! She warned me that the average delivery date for twins is 36.5 weeks so need to be prepared for them to come earlier than the planned date. Have vistitors this week but after that it's all systems go buying stuff we need.

Anyone buying a video monitor? any advice on that front?

Better get on with some work!

Love to all
