There are mixed reviews on this. I would definetly not do it during the 2ww. It just isnt worth it...we spend too much money on IVF to potentially ruin the outcome.

I dyed my hair all during my pregnancy. Not sure if I did during the 2ww. My doctor said it's a myth that the chemicals are bad for the baby. My babies are totally healthy with dying my hair and drinking lots of caffeine during my pregnancy.
Hi Diane, i got the ok from my Dr, but i had mine coloured just before transfer just in case. And have just spent a month convincing hubby its ok, and finally got it redone last week. All ok, my hairdresser says its myth. A lot is down to the fact they used to use ammonia base in the past.
Good luck

I did my hair before 2WW and will probably get highlights instead of doing one color. Also I will have it professionaly done since what they use smells a lot less and they don't touch the scalp. I figure I want to look pretty when I am blimpy so I need something, but I didn't want to keep doing the hair dye myself and saturating my scalp, so that was my compromise!

Thanks for your replies! I talked to one of the nurses in the office today...she said that their standard 1st trimester literature says that it's ok as long as it doesn't touch the scalp and that perms or straighteners are not acceptable at all. We were laughing a little because in order to get rid of the grey you have to go to the root! Anyway, she checked with another nurse in there, too, who said my RE does not put limitations on it. Since there is a question, however, I plan to move my appt until at least next Thur because my beta is next Wed...I'll know by then. If I am, maybe I'll just get a cut, if I'm not, maybe I'll do something totally radical!
ok ladies.
I have answered posts like these many many times before!! Back in the day it was not recommended to chemically treat the hair. Back then they used metallic dyes in hair color. Now a days they dont. I am not a doctor however I have been a hairstylist for 8 years now and can all but guarantee its okay. I have had plenty of clients (mine and others in salon) chemically treat their hair while pregnant and/or undergoing IF treatments and all of them and thier children are fine!! If it were not safe, hairdressers would not be able to work while trying to have kids. I get that stuff all over my hands, arms, face, clothes etc. Professional color is fine!!! I would not try home/box color though.... No telling what's in that stuff!!
Don't cut your hair or do something out there, you might regret it and being pregnant and hating your "do" does not help! Try lowlights, highlights, something mild...

Thanks mspeaches and rio. mspeaches - your reasoning is probably why RE does not put any limitations on hair dying. He is aware of pretty much every study in the book. It does make me wonder where the nurse was reading her warnings from.
I agree with peaches...no crap from a box at the store. I have gone to my salon every month since the beginning of pregnancy. My salon uses natural also.
