Has anyone had good experiences with a SIRM - Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine Center?
They have centers across the US and supposedly take "harder" cases (poor responder) with aggressive protocols.
Is there another way to find out nationally recognized Fertility Centers?

You can find most Clinics success rates on the SART website:
I have one concern about SIRM. I don't know anyone who has had treatment with them but they have this message board where the "doctors" respond to your questions. Now, I don't know about all of you but my RE is such an incredibly busy guy that I usually don't see him, I see the nurse and our contact with the RE is usually for any actual procedures only and you can tell he is kinda pushed for time. I have posted a few questions on the SIRM message board because I'm curious and hopeful that it is really a doc that is responding but I really, really can't believe that these RE's have time to keep logging into the computer and reading and responding to hunderds of messages all day every day including the weekend! What's in it for them? They literally respond to some messages within an hour and they have always responded to my messages within a couple of hours. Too good to be true?

I have had an ok experience as far as the outcome of my IVF. AS far as the facilities and the people. They are great and very organized.
Prior to SIRM, NY I was at Columbia and every time you when in for your u/s you had a different doctor, that doesnt sit to well with me.... BFN after my first attempy
My 2nd attempt was at New Hope Fertility in NY. People were nice but tthere is only one doctor and after your initial consultation you never see him again, the nurses( whom all are very nice) does all your follow-ups, BFN after my 2nd attempt.
My 3rd attempt SIRM, NY, were the doctors all seem very knowledgable and the office very freind and there are never more than 1 maybe 2 people in the waiting room. You will never walk into SIRM, NY as see a crown full of people. I loved that. You wills ee your doctor each and everytime. I loved that as well. Nows heres the only problem I had, Listen closely,
My first IVF, I stimmed wrong, i didnt get adequate directions and stimmed ona very low dose, I am 27, and I only made 5 follies all of good qaulity 3 fertilized, day of transfer was a nightmare, it took 30 min, didnt know why at that time.....transfered 1 3day perfect no frag blast BFN
2nd IVF, this center is a minimal stim center meaning they stim you on clomid to make 1 follie and they fertilise it( much cheaper then regular IVF and better on body since less meds) On day of transfer doc wanted me to empty my bladder(huh) and it wasnt an ultrasounf guided transfer he did it free hand(huh) it took 2 attempts 30 min long...... after the transfer he tell me i have a stenonic (narrow) cervix and he has to dialte me next time, and im like nex time? Well when you saw it was stenonic why didnt you postpone the transfer until after you dialted me? Any way made a 6-day blast( grew slow grade b) BFN
I go to SIRM the give me hope and tell me I am young but i have a low count , I only have 10 antral follies on day 3. They were theyu only ones who did thorough testing on me and a Kruegar testing for my DH.
I stimed on very high doses, Doc said i should make 8 eggs. I made 17 eggs only 7 were mature all 7 fertilised by day 3, i had 3 6-7 cell stage and the otehr 4 were grwoing so slow only at 4 cell stage on day 3. they told me to wait for day 5. On day 5 i got a call from my doc. All my eggs had arrested! He went on to tell me that I make bad eggs, I will ever have my own child w/out a donor and this is the reason why i nerver got pregnant. I told him the reason i never got preggo is cuz i have no tubes, they were removed! you should no that from my paperwork, you are my doc right? and then i say how is it at my 1st ivf try i made perfect eggs? and on my last one i only made 1 egg and it made it to blast by day 6? He goes on to tell me wel they couldnt have been good eggs bcasue you did not get preggo, I told him I have very bad transfers some lasting an hour! and every doc will agree transer are very important! well after i got off the fone with him I was so mad.. Not sa b/c I didnt believe him, hoe could i go from making good eggs last year to making bad.... Needless to say I requested a consult with Dr.Sher himself. SPoke to him and he told me I stimmed all wrong on this cycle, the doses were to high for my age, I was on lupron to long as it decensitises the ovaries and he also told me I will have a baby, that he promised that i will have a baby in the next cycle and he personally will see me.... OK so I am preapring for my next cycle and I get a call from my SIRM doc, hes like I have good news one of your eggs made it to a Grade B quality blast and we would like to do a transfer! I was in total awwwww. I couldnt believe it, the nsame man that told me i need donor eggs.... I cam in fro my trasnfer there was no time to diate the cervix b/c he said if he did not perform the transfer that my blast would hatch and start to stick to the petri dish(hehee). I told him how appehensive i was with the trasnfer not being sedtated ot dialted. He said he did a mock tranfer on retreival and didnt have any probs. Beleive it or not the trasnfer was done in 10 min, it was painful but tolerable... 7dp6dt got a beta of 50! 9dp3dt got a beta or 321!. I am thrilled beyond thrilled... I am not out of the woods yet until a fetal pole and heartbeat is seen. But this cycle was supposed to be a bust! Who would have even know, my doc was shocked he sad he cant believe it! I go for my first u/s March 3. I am still very nervous.
Anyway thass my story and I hope you can use it to help you ecide docs. What you have to remember is that every doc has a different protocol they want to use, and a different approach. My doc truley believed i needed higher stimms, after he called me and said he would put me in the march cycle and give me even higher meds, thats when i needed a 2nd opinion and called dr.sher. Not to say my doc was incorrect, I wasnt comfortable with it and after 2 failed ivf attempts yous start to wisen up and know your meds available to you. Dont get me wrong i would love to make 20 eggs, but whats the point in making 20 when only 7 of them will be mature? id rather quality than quantity and dr. sher and I was on the same page, i guess my doc believed in quantity...
Overall, I will go back again. If i may recommend dr. torterelli in NY, if you are in NY...... Best wishes. hope i didnt bore you..........
I totally Agree with you. Sirm works on cycles meaning that no one person walks in there and has a transfer or a u/s or a retreival. It works in cycles meaning that after all blood as come back semen analysis, they will put you into a cycle whcih are once a month. So lets say you got all you blood back and analysis on Feb 10 that is the deadline for the next month's cycle... anything after the 10th you are in the following month cycle. I used to think they were crazy( becasue i missed the next month cycle, and they put me in the following month) but this works so well becasue they way the give you appointments you never wait, never in a crowded office and once they finish the retrivals they are really slow aroud there. Needless to say i know thye docs answer the questions i have discussed wit my dic many of times on there with my case. I dont know the way they work are in slots and its never a crazy crazy day there. so i do believe they respond personally. You made a valid point! very funny too!

That's called "batched cycles". Many clinics do it for various reasons. For example, it gives the docs a chance to plan some time off once in awhile. Also, it saves money, as the embryologists can be part time (they work 2 weeks every month or so).
