GHOST - question about "runaway" follies

Post by cathann »

I had a stim day 5 check yesterday. I seem to have some overachieving/"runaway" follies on the left side and some more "normal" sized on the right. Should I be concerned or just chill? I have another stim check scheduled for tomorrow.

Anyone else had this before?

Thanks for any input!

I don't know what "runaway" follicles are.

Once in awhile there is a problem with dominant follicle selection, where just one follicle develops. That does not sound like what you describe.

Asymmetric development, with more on one side than the other is very common.

Many clinics get concerned with "too many" follicles developing and estradiol climbing rapidly. These indicate high risk for OHSS, if the patient is triggered with hCG.

Thanks Ghost. Turns out that the nurse on Thursday was just over-reacting to what she saw. It's Sunday now and several other follies have caught up with the 2 overachievers. I'm triggering tonight for ER on Tuesday.

Thanks again!
