I'm 40-should I have one last go at IVF?

Post by loulouham »

Hi, I've just turned 40, have a beautiful son aged 12 from my first marriage, would love a child with my husband now, we've been married 5 years & have had 7 IVF cycles...no success. Last one was 2 years ago, decided to give up & count our blessings BUT we have just inherited some money unexpectedly & I can't stop thinking: should we have one last try? Has anyone had a happy ending when they started a cycle at over 40? Thanks!

Hi,

I just wanted to say,go for it and lots of luck....

We had 4 cycles before we got pg with our son,he's now 6 months old(im 36)...By my experience,if you dont try now you've got the money, you'll always wonder what if? You inherited the money unexpectedly..well im a firm believer in fate,so maybe this is fates way of telling you,go try this last time..

Whatever you decide,i wish you the best of luck..Nicola..xx

Hi loulou - go for it! there is a woman on our thread who is 44 and BFP with her 1st!!!
I am a firm believer in kismet-and this unexpected windfall sounds like the universe wants you to give it a go!!
As for me, I didn't even know that we'd need IVF, and then I got into grad school, took their insurance- which unexpectedly covered IVF, and it turned out we had a major infertility issue - and voila- at 39 1st IVF and a BFP!!!!!!!!!!

best of luck to you and Dh whatever you decide
