blimey, we all haven't posted for ages. Hope everyone had a good xmas, and enjoying your 18 month plus babies.
i have some miracle news for you all. Just before Xmas I started feeling nauseous. On Xmas Eve decided to do a preganncy test and it was unbeliveably positive. Very shocked , especially as I was told in 2002 that I could not conceive naturally as both my tubes were blocked.
Freya cost us over £15 k and now I have a freebie!!.
I am very very lucky. God knows how the sperm and egg actually met let alone travel back down the knackered old tube. very amazed it wasn't ectopic, and all in all it must be a little fighter. I am 16 weeks pregnant now.
It actually took me quite a while to accept, possibly because of the shock and just not being prepared. I have also been very ill with it, and just coming out of the exaustion stage. Its only now that I am starting to talk to it and rubbing my tummy.With freya I was talking and singing to her straight after embryo transfer when she was still a microscopic dot!!!!

Life here is hectic but I still keep an eye on the boards - just don't seem to get time to post anything.
Thomas is a joy and I feel so lucky to have him, he's got a wicked sense of humour and is always making us laugh. He's pretty good most of the time and being a mum just seems to get better and better with each month that passes although I'm sure the ' terrible twos ' will put a stop to that !!
Wow!!!how happy must you be??? Bet Freya is getting excited already.
We are looking around at houses.We live in Coventry but John wants to relocate to Birmingham due to working at the University. I SO don't want to move!!! HE is bribing me by saying we can do FET but only when we move from our bungalow which only has 2 bedrooms and we definitely need more room.
Joshua is still not talking. Apparantly boys take longer. He is definitely taking on board everything. you only have to say the first line of abook and he will bring it over. We are going toask healthvisitor at clinic just to make sure all ok with his tongue, it is tongue tied right at the end so he can't lick but he can certainly BITE!!!
Kim -you are right being a mum is the best. Joshua is such a joy, a real cheeky character, I am now up to 15,000 photos of him-he is such a poser. Everywhere he goes he melts people with his cheeky smile andhas quite a few girl friends already.
I think Joshua is already in the terrible 2's he is an absolute terror. He is in the hitting stage and throwing, poorBessey-Dog is always his main target! But of course a little angel when daddy comes home. He still sleeps 12 hours through the night, eats 3 meals a day (no snacks, no messing) and still as had NO chocolate, processed foods, crisps sweets, fizzy drinks, chips or fried food. HE loves brocolli,(yuk!) pork, mashed potato, sunday roast, rice,pasta,chicken, raisins,peas,carrots,sweetcorn, carrots, every fruit he gets, yoghurt, fromage frais, rich teabiscuits, dog biscuits (when we haven't caught him in time, and pickled onions. oh!!! most importantly ICECREAM.
Jules, TOni, SophieJane and Kim, hope to keep the posts up a bit more often if we can -it is so nice to hear about the little ones progress.

thanks all for your posts. I am feeling much better now, so yes I am starting to get excited and can't believe how lucky i am. The little baby is letting me know its presents by daily wriggles and kicks.
Jackie, you said that freya must be excited, more like absolutely gutted I reckon!!. i think she is going to find it hard sharing her mummy. She is either attached to my hip or clinging to be legs (her new name is lilly limpet) and cries if I pick up another child. So its certainly going to be interesting to see how she reacts. I have a feeling there might be a few pinches and scratches to the new babe!!!
freya continues to be a delight but also demanding and frustrating. Now she can say "two" she seems to want two of everything, and if she doesn't get what she wants she certainly lets the whole neighbourhood know. Last night she went to bed with 2 bottles, 2 dummies, 2 blankets and 2 baby dolls.
She goes to bed like a dream at 7 - 7.30pm, but wakes up at 5.30 - 6am. Thank god for cbeebies at that time in the morning.
In summary freya is: She would love to survive on just pasta. She loves dancing. She thinks she's so clever because she can now put her shoes on herself. She still tries to put jumpers on her legs. She says 'no' to everything. She's got a 3 year old best friend who she adores, and sobs when they are separated.
Hope everyone else is ok, and seems like everyone is hectic and busy. Jackie, how's the househunting in Birmingham?

so sorry I haven't been in touch for absolutely ages - things just never
seem to stop.
Firstly a HUGE congratulations to Sophie-Jane. It goes without saying that you must be over the moon! hows the preg going?
We have had a bad few months with the twins - they don't seem to have had more than a few days when one of them hasn't been poorly, since Xmas. They got that horrid sicky bug just before Xmas, especially tom was poorly. He was really quite heavily sick in my car, which was really awful for him as we were driving at the time so I couldn't get him cleaned up straight away (plus its smelt horribly!!). Luckily they were ok by Xmas day though Geoff had a bad cold by then.
Then they have had chest infections, a virus that we thought might be
chicken pox (rash everywhere!), but wasn't, over Easter, various colds and coughs. conjunctivitis, tom had an ear infection, and then last week they had Viral gastro-enteritis - that was the worst I lost count of the times I changed their sheets! poor charlotte had it so bad one day that we were changing her nappy every 20 mins or so. All they wanted to do was sleep, not eat or drink, and we were dead worried we would end up in hosp with them on a drip cos of the lack of fluids. They just decided to start drinking in time though........ I think that's it! Touch wood at the moment they seem fine....................
They are both toddling around quite happily now - charlotte is so clever,
she makes me really proud sometimes, she will watch what's going on around her and take it all in - you can almost see the cogs turning! But in
contrast she is really awful to her brother - such a bully and definitely
top dog! she will take food out of his hands (biscuits etc), and toys, and
all he does is come running to me crying! So I end up telling her off and
telling him to stand up for himself! She also encourages him to be
naughty - ive seen it with my own eyes. He will be doing something wrong, like pulling at the fireguard (he has managed to pull it out of the wall a few times!), and ill tell him 'no', Charlotte will wander up to Tom have a quiet word in his ear and he starts doing it again!
Like I say they are both merrily walking around now - happy as anything.
its so lovely that we can take them to the park and they can play in the
garden. It really makes a huge difference! They love to watch Tellytubbies, Hi-5 (charlotte dances!) and Barney - so we have some of that on during breakfast time and maybe a bit at lunch time too. I cant believe they will be 2 in less than 2 months - where has the time gone?!
I'm still a little worried about their speech development - they don't
really say much. I know twins develop their speech later though. My health visitor says that she would be more concerned if they didn't understand what we were saying to them - and they seem to. they understand things like, where's your drink, where's your coat, find your shoes, touch your nose, etc. But all tom really says is dada, mama, baba (baby - ie charlotte!), and he says bye bye and waves........... so cute! Charlotte says all sorts of stuff that sounds like its real words but actually makes no sense. However, again she's is cleverer cos she says shoes, keys, purple (purplee!), oh dear!, yeah, no (pointing!), as well as baba, dada, and mama. well I guess we shall see at the 2 year check up how they are doing.
The modelling has dried up at the moment but I almost passed out a couple of months ago. I was in the early learning centre and suddenly saw none other than MY LITTLE BOY THOMAS on one of the boxes!! It's a Corgi toy in the Go Go Rollers range, and its the push along train. So pop in and have a look. He is wearing denim dungarees, and has blonde hair - very very blonde. - he is NOT the baby holding a ball, but the one with a T-shirt under his dungarees. I'm so proud that every time I pop in I accost someone to brag to. Friends, shop assistants, strangers ....... lol!!! My brother thought it was so cool that he actually went a bought one for himself - he tells everyone that goes to his flat that the boy on the box is his nephew! bless him!
Anyway i must dash cos its nearly the twins tea time - life just stops in this house unless u try to stick to some kind of routine with 2 of them!

Great to hear all your news... the twins sound like they are thriving!!!
I know what you mean about them catching one thing after another, Joshua is exactly the same and I get them as well -John totally escapes ...GIT!!!
Joshua and I both had cough/ cold for the first 7 -8 weeks of the year. GP said they leave it until it reaches 8 weeks for Joshua and then they test for whooping cough. Anyway, he go over it eventually but then a week later he gets something else. Its the same story over and over again.
WE had to take him to the hospital walk in centre again about 3 weeks ago, he was really screaming but it was different to when he is upset. John went with him and said the dr was great, he let Joshua inspect everything before he was examined. Dr said he had an inflamed sore throat.
I think we were very lucky with his teething, we only had 1 afternoon of problems ...thats it!!! With that and him sleeping 12 hours straight through at night from age 4 weeks (only needed to get up to 4 times since then, and that is when he was sick), People look like they could kill us when we tell them.
Its so typical we spend over 4 weeks trying to find Joshua some decent shorts and t shirts (when it was very hot) now we've got them it rains almost non-stop. He has a lovely tan though on his legs and is really good when I am putting suncream on him -I think he knows he can play in his swing then!!!
He and Bessey-dog are so daft together. She is a border wally...I men collie and is so daft. He has a england soft ball and copies the dog and walks round with it in his mouth no hands. He also picks it up off the floor with his teeth. He thinks he is so clever standing there clapping his hands.
(Actually, Bessey-Dog also got my niece copying her. When she was a puppy we would say 'roll over tiggle belly' and she would go paws up. It stuck with her as she got older, unfortunately for my sister (but so funny to everyone else) my niece would roll over too whenever we said it!!!)
Joshua is also mad about our cats and gets away with so much. Neither of them has even hissed at him or attempted to scratch. (Souzee our tabby has been on steroids since 7 weeks old -she is 7 years old now and she is massive because of steroids. Her teeth are like paper). Joshua is always terrorising her. She likes to sit on his legs (she weighs a LOT) and when he tries to catch he tale she will swoop it away at last second and wag it against his nose ...he thinks it is so funny! they spend sometimes 1/2 hour or more.
Joshua has just started saying 'mamamama' and making 'babababa' noses. He says 'yeah' I was so glad it wasn't 'no' don't think I could have coped with that. I am not too worried though because he is so taking everything in. We have to keep a check on it because his tongue is tied. His is joined from the top so he can't stick it out although he does try when there is icecream. But like I said he takes everything in. You only have to say the first 3 words of a book and he will fetch it over. He can do this with about 10 especially 'Room On The Broom' and 'The Gruffelo' by julia Donaldson, 'Bear stays up', 'Bear snores on', 'Bear wants more' and 'Bears new friend' by Karma Wilson. The illustrations are great.
HE is very funny, when I sing the animal fair song to him and do the actions, he will scratch his head like the baboon combing his hair. Again I only have to say the first line and his arm goes on top of his head. He is SO cute when he does this.
He is obsessed with doors, drawers, and gates. HE is especially attracted by pebble drives /gardens. This usually involves him stamping on the stones and me trying to drag him off even though he is holding my hand. He also knows that the horse field is in the next road (we live in a small close and it is off the next close so not very far) whenever I take him for his afternoon trek (he stops at everything to inspect. I now give him a jingle toy to carry with him -he likes holes in fences so his spare hand is occupied). He knows the horses are there and we have to walk past them so I have to try and drag him past the field it amazing how often they are in bed!!! After the horse tried to eat Joshua's hat he is attracted to them -the thing is the last few times we have gone over the horse has lifted its tail and ..... man it stinks!!!
Joshua is still great with his food -he loves veg especially peas (if one is dropped he has to get it back, he also loves brocolli, sweetcorn, carrots, fruit especially mandarin oranges. He still HASN'T had any chocolate or sweets, crisps, chips etc instead he has raisins or organic gingerbread men. He will only drink milk or Robinson's clear H2O blackcurrant water, he must have 4 a day (no sugar, preservatives etc) his one vice is icecream especially Thortons icecream.
Joshua's main love though is books. I am so proud of the fact that he knows where Borders is. It is in the same part as the Tesco Extra & Next. The other week we were shopping (about 9.30 pm) when he saw Borders. HE slipped my hand and ran over squealing with excitement. The only problem being it was shut. So he had his very first tantrum trying to bash the door down and crying so much, we had to drag a very distraught little man away from the door -felt very guilty. We always let him choose a book. we choose a couple and then say which one and he will choose one and hold his hand out, although this is usually followed by him choosing another ...etc very expensive. Have you read 'The 3 Little Wolves And The Big Bad Pig' or 'The Little Mole Who Knew It Was None Of His Business' or any of the 'Walter The Farting Dog' books -for some reason John loves these (poo themes).
That reminds me Joshua was there feeding the dog purple Play-Doh before we realised what he was up to. John was very excited at the thought of Bessey-Dog passing bright purple poo-he is such a ...MAN!!!
Anyway, I'd better and feed those two.
Will check out ELC when I go past it to admire Thomas!!! Hope the twins are still cold-free.
SophieJ -how far gone are you now. You must be shattered with a one year old and being pregnant. Hope Freya is a bit happier at the thought of sharing you with the new arrival.
Kim, hope Thomas is giving you lots of fun and you are really enjoying it. You must post all your news when you have a few minutes.

Thank you for the birthday wishes for Thomas he had a lovely birthday. We went to Centre Parcs with my family for the weekend and it was brilliant fun.
Thomas is a real outdoors boy and would spend all day in the garden given half a chance. He loves motorbikes, cars, trains and animals. He is so curious about EVERYTHING, they really are like little sponges at this age, you can almost see the cogs turning in their heads watching them trying to suss things out.
Thomas has just started to string words together - only a couple at a time - like train coming or yes please etc.. but it makes communication a bit easier.
He has discovered naughty things to eat but still loves his fruit, pasta and salad although he's gone off his veg a little bit but I haven't had any big problems with his eating so far.
He's a happy little boy and it's nice to see him starting to play with other children his age now at toddlers - he has a special friend called Poppy and they sit and have conversations, it's soooo sweet.
I've put a picture on Photobucket. I took him into work the other day and I nipped out of the office to put the kettle on and the girls put him in a box and he hid and then jumped up when I walked back in and that's what the photo's of.
Hope you had a good Xmas and New Year !!! You're right, our little ones aren't babies anymore, where has the time gone ?
Thomas is starting nursery next week - just two 3 hour sessions a week and it makes me realise that he's growing up fast. I've enjoyed his first 2 and 1/2 years sooo much.
I haven't got time to write a long message now as Thomas doesn't have a nap during the day anymore and he's getting impatient for me to play with him !!
Do you know whether Sophie had a boy or a girl ?

Im not trying to take anything away from this site - this message board was a total life saver for me! But a lot of people are on Facebook these days and its a good way to keep up to date with people, successful or not, and thought it would be a good idea.
