Hey everyone,
I had an u/s today because last week my amniotic fluid was a little low, so they wanted to re-check it today. The fluid levels are back up and she weighs about 5lbs, 13oz., so everything is on target. BUT.... she is breech and my Dr. said she COULD turn but it's less likely now that I'm 35 weeks. So.....I start going to the doctor weekly now and on my 37th or 38th week appointment, if she still hasn't turned, we will schedule a C-section for the week of March 10th-15th. I don't really care about having a vaginal birth per se, but I kind of wanted the spontaneity of "going into labor"- calling my husband at work, or waking in the middle of the night, etc... Scheduling a C-section sort of takes the magic out of it, but OF COURSE, I just want a healthy baby, so I'll quit whining now.
I hope everyone is doing well. I looked on dixiegal's myspace page and the pictures of her twins are adorable, but I couldn't find any blog entries that say how they are doing. Did anyone else???

Hey girls!!! I'm so sorry I havent had a chance to update! yes i had the twins on jan 11th exactly 80 days after i went into the hospital.... I woke up and promptly started having contractions! Anyway, to make a long story short... Bella did great ... she was 3 and a half pounds and needed no oxygen or anything. Colt was 4.5 pounds but wasn't expected to make it. his lungs were to small and too stiff and ruptured once they put him on a ventilator.
Anyway, after all that time in the hospital you can imagine how devastated i was... but I just didn't believe he wouldn't make it.
By the grace of God and a couple of really smart docs who aren't afraid to go off the beaten track... Colt was doing better and came off the ventilator a week after he was born(much to the amazement of his doctors).. and has continued to suprise and impress the doctors since. no one in that nicu expected him to live.
Bella came home exactly 3 weeks after she was born... and we hope to bring Colt home by this wednesday. he is still on oxygen and will be for a couple of months. he can breath fine on his own.. but he gets tired and winded taking his bottles so they want him to stay a little more comfy. i have to spend 3 nights in the hospital 'rooming in' to learn how to operate the monitor and oxygen machine but they have agreed to let me bring bella in as well so i guess a few more nights in the hospital bed will be ok! :)i'm going to add some new pictures of the babies to my space soon. especially since Colt looks so much different now that he isn't so sick!
I hope you are all well and ready for your little ones!!!!

Dixie - I glad your babies are doing better. I think we have all been so worried. I took a peek at their pictures, and they are adorable.

Jennifer - how did you dr know your fluid levels were low. Was it by ultrasound or were you leaking amniotic fluid?

I have not had an ultrasound since 19 weeks. My dr does not even measure me at all. I do have an u/s scheduled next week at 37 weeks. My dr told me today that he would not let me go past my due date, and may even induce me a few days earlier. He would know more after the u/s.

How is everyone else?

Hey Kerri- I had an u/s two weeks ago at 33 weeks. My doctor ordered it because of doing IVF, my age (39), etc... He said just to check things out. That's how they discovered it. I was told to up my fluid intake and rest more. I had another u/s last Wed. at 35 weeks and it had gone back up. It was never dangerously low, just a "little" low. But, the baby is breech, so I'm still looking at a C-section. I go back this Friday, but I don't think they have an u/s scheduled- just a regular visit. I go every week from now on- do you? The days are DRAGGING!!!!!

Hi everyone!

I had an U/S at 36 weeks and that was to approximate the size and position of the baby. She measured 7lbs 9oz. then and I know it's just approximate size but I'm getting a little worried to go until 40 weeks and trying to push a 9-10lb baby. She was also breech at 32 wks and now she's head down. Does anybody know how close ultrasounds are these days?

I believe I have officially entered the end of the third trimester. How can I tell you ask?

Well. . .

I have begun to rest my hand on the back of the toilet seat to gain leverage.

Every couple hours I check my underpants to see if there's a baby in them.

Appear to be comprehending what people are saying, but my ears only hear Charlie Brown's teacher talking.

Having the ongoing look of constipation on my face. Note: This one is hard to hide.

Cleaning the house so anyone could come in and just start eating off the floor if they want.

Come up with reasons to get a babysitter before our hourly rate doubles.

Start looking up words like "effacement" and "dialation" in the dictionary in hopes that labor will be brought on just by reading the entries.

Developing emotional attachments to Idol wanna-be's.

That's all for now, but I'm sure many more signs will come my way.

Hang in there,
Sher8

Sher- ROFL!!!!
Well, I had my 36 week appointment and the baby is still breech, so we have a tentative C-section scheduled for March 11th!!! So, that will be her birthday unless she decides to turn at the last minute, in which case, we will just wait and see. My practice does not induce unless there is fetal distress, so we'll see. Hopefully I have just 17 more days!!!
Laurie- we haven't heard from you in a long time- everything okay???
Good Luck everyone on this last stretch (pardon the pun!!)

Hi All
Sorry not posted in a while, but have had a very busy time of late.

Last wednesday the 18th Feb, i went to the hospital for my routine 36 week scan, which all went well, after i had to see the doctor...again all very normal.
Well m y blood pressure was very high and had protein in my urine so the doctor admitted me into hospital while they took blood tests for pre-eclampsia.

I was put into a side room on the ward..minding my own business..and reading a magazine when all of a sudden a 5.10pm was waters just broke!!

After that everything just went a little crazy and fast..had to call dh and get him to the hospital...contractions started very quickly...had a scan to check babies positions.. twin one head down..twin 2 breach... Joy!

Well to spare you all the gory details...5 hours later..Cooper came into this world weighing 6lbs 5 oz....then 9 mins later Melody was born weighing 4lbs 2 oz.

Cooper had to spend a couple of days in special care as he was having trouble breathing but all well now and on friday we all finally came home.

So thats my week.................hows everyone else doing! ?

Lots of love...to u all and the babies that are all coming very soon!

Laurie xx
