Shari - Glad you're on the antibiotics right away. You will feel better really soon. I too have urinary frequency and urgency...but when I try to go barely anything comes out and/or it's difficult to get it out. I read somewhere that a tilted uterus can put pressure on the bladder/urethra causing this, and I have a tilted uterus. But I am going to mention it to my OB next week. I have no other symptoms though--no burning, etc. I am up at least 5 times/night having to pee SO BAD.

As long as I'm on the insomnia topic, let me say how bad my sleeping (or lack thereof) is. I'll have a few OK nights, where I wake up a lot to pee and have trouble getting back to sleep but am not up for long stretches. But then I will have a night like last night where I am up for 5 hours straight, with abdominal discomfort/GI issues and nausea. I actually had the dry heaves last night--it was a bad night. I am definitely not feeling the purported good times of the 2nd trimester!

MBG - thanks so much for sharing your pics. They are great! I am going to try to get some up there as well. My abdomen is way bloated...I think the majority of my "showing" is not my uterus but just bloat. Lovely!

Seltzer-

Well, my doc called and said the first batch of results shows no sign of infection, but there's also the culture which he hasn't gotten yet. He did say to hold off on antibiotics. I have also had a history of bladder spasms which mimic the same symptoms as UTI. Man, what we WON'T discuss on this forum  . Anyway, I know how you feel... to pee or not to pee, that is the problem   .

Sorry to hear that your 2nd trimester is fraught with insomnia and dry heaves. I can also relate to being in discomfort, although maybe not to the same degree. I still get quite nauseous (especially when getting dressed/hurrying to leave), and I have heartburn like nobody's business. May we both feel better soon.

Hope all you ladies are well today!

Shari - Keep us posted on the UTI sitch...I am curious as to whether it is a normal pregnancy symptom or a UTI. Hang in there! :)

MBG - Thanks for the support. I am getting through it OK since there is an end in sight and I know that once I have that baby in my ams I will forget all about this discomfort. 23 weeks to go!

Below are some pics that I also posted on photobucket..the first one is of me, my DP, and our son Nathaniel on Nate's first birthday--hence the frosting all over his face, LOL. I am the one holding him. The other pic is of Nathaniel, taken today. Of course I have to show off my kid! :)

Happy Monday Bump Buddies
Seltzer,
Thanks for sharing your pictures. Your little boy is SO CUTE! He's just precious.
Shari, I've been wondering too if I have a bladder infection because I have to go so much. They test my urine everytime I go to the MD and my next appt is Wed, so I'll see then. I have to get up so many times a night, it's really starting to get to me.
I hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm very tired this morning. We went out to a club last night to see a band so I didn't get home until close to midnight. I'm getting too old for that stuff!

Hello ladies! Well, it sure is fun to see what everyone looks like!! All I have is pre-baby pics, so I posted a few. I swear I will get some belly pics out there cause it sure is growing. Unfortunately, I just look FAT! Oh well - still not sleeping well, but other than that - I am good. I took a 12 week pic, so now I will take another in the next day or so and then try to post them.

Marybeth - your little preggo belly looks cute!! Isn't it funny to think how big it is going to get? My husband keeps rubbing it and being so sweet. :) Your u/s pics were awesome!! They look like little babies now - isn't is amazing???? That is sooo cool.

Rebecca - you go on with your bad self - out partying like a ROCK STAR!! I was told by my boss that my new client we are visiting in Chicago Wed and Thurs really likes to party, so I better be ready for a late night on Wed. UGGHHHH!!!! I also like to get my groove on, but NOT when I am pregnant and CAN'T DRINK!!! I think instead of telling them I am pregnant, I am going to tell them that I am a recovering alcoholic. :) Oh well, the price we pay, right???

Seltzer - How fun to see your pics! Your son is so cute!!! You all look like a very cute and happy family! :) I hope you are feeling better. I know it is tough when you don't feel well. It's like you want to enjoy the moment, but you can't because you feel like crap!

Shari - you poor thing! I know it must be frustrating not to know what is causing your problem. UTI's are the worst! I swear I thought I was going to die from one before- it was terrible!!! When will you find out what is wrong?

Karen - your story about work was funny! I still can't believe you have not gained weight. Oh - not I! I continue to pack it on! :)

Nancy - Hope you are doing well! Sounds like you and I have similar ideas about nurseries. I just wish we already knew what we were having!!! :)

Ok, gotta run. Much love to everyone....

Hello Ladies!
I was home sick (again) yesterday and I slept a LOT. The bladder situation is feeling a bit better. I just try to relax and do kegels and hope for the best! My doc didn't call again, and he said he would if there was an infection. I called today anyway just to check in and confirm, and he should be getting back to me. No fever, no spotting, and feeling better are all good signs to me, so I'm guessing it's the little tyke putting pressure on my bladder. Hey, as long as my baby's growing and healthy, a little discomfort isn't so bad :) .

Seltzer- Your family is so cute! What a cute little baby you have there! How are you feeling? Hoping you are feeling much better soon. I understand the up-in-the-middle-of-the-night syndrome. What I usually do (which helps) is go into the living room and cozy up on the couch with a good book. This usually helps me relax and go to sleep (after about an hou :P ).

Rebecca- Well, based on my experience, don't assume you have a UTI. I have a history of UTI's and was sure that's what it was, especially since it was starting to burn. BTW, that club sounds like it fun. My bro-in-law was here visiting and he said when we come to NY after the baby is born, we must all get a sitter and go to a favorite club together. I was like, 'a sitter... cool'... like I'll be one of those 'mom' people who needs to get a 'sitter'. Anyway, hope you don't have a UTI, let us know.

Tina- Thanks... I am just going with the flow and WAITING for my pregnancy to feel a little better. Having said that, it's not as bad as all that, I've heard of women not being able to keep anything down, etc. So all in all, I'm doing pretty ok. Glad you are feeling well.

MBG- So glad to read that you're doing well with your twins there. May your pregnancy continue as such. Have you had an ultrasound since your last let-down? The next one should be quite amazing. Seeing one moving all around was something but two? Wow! Let us know!

Health and hugs ladies!

Tina: love the pics! You and your dh make a beautiful couple and will have a beautiful baby!! My DH is the same way...he rubs my belly all the time. Sometimes when I am getting dressed he will stare in amazement at how big it is getting!! (not sure if he is staring at my belly or my boobs! They are both pretty big!!)

I am beginning to feel more aches and pains. I have to take it slow when moving from a laying postion to a standing. I can really feel the growing pains!! Other than that all is good! I go in for my 16 week appointment on March 10th....Can't wait!!

Hi Guys,
I love the photobucket site! I want to get my husband to take some belly pictures of me. He's taken one, but you can easily tell I'm not wearing anything in it so I won't let him post it on his website -I don't want my Dad seeing it. I suspect my belly might be bigger than some of yours -I already look more pregnant than I am and I had to go out & buy a 38DD bra!
I felt like a zombie all day yesterday. I guess my going out on work nights is over for a while! I work at home so it's fairly easy to sneak in a nap at lunch time but yesterday I was too tired to nap.
Shari, I have a history of bladder infections too. When I think about it, it makes sense that with the new weight of the baby on top of your bladder that things will feel different and sometimes you'll have bladder spasms. I haven't really had the painful symptoms but things down there feel different enough to me that I drink some cranberry juice everyday. So far, no infection.
DH & I planned out the nursery over the weekend. I'm going to keep my home office as it is and we'll convert our guest bedroom to the nursery. My stepDD's bedroom will need to be the sometimes guest room so we are buying her a bigger bed to accommodate grandparents when they visit and she can sleep on the futon in my office when she's over at the same time as a grandparent. We talked it over with her to make sure there's no hurt feelings, but she's 13 now so pretty mature about the new baby. Fortunately we don't have to buy that much baby stuff because we still have her old crib and changing table in the attic and my sister has lots of baby stuff to give us too. I think we'll just need carseats for mine & DH's car and a good stroller.
I better get back to work now. Hope everyone is well.
Rebecca

URGENT!!

Post by gori »

Hello girls
Hope all is well. I am coming back to this forum after several weeks. Hope everyone is doing great!! I have an urgent question. I just turned 14 weeks today & got a call from my gynae - she said she wanted to discuss my test results & she cannot discuss over the phone. She has asked me to come into her office in 2 hrs. Meanwhile, I am going crazy. I am afraid it's not good news. I had NT test [u/s] done last week. The u/s looked good for the NT test. Only thing was that they took my blood test & that could be the only result my gynae may want to discuss with me. Although she mentioned something like 'AFP test' I thought on the phone. It cannot be AFP results as that test is only done between 16-18 weeks of pregnancy. Anybody has any ideas what I might be going in for? I am not sure how I will survive these 2 hrs. PLS any advise would be great!!
Regards

Gori-
I am so sorry you got that kind of phone call from your doctor. I wish she would have said SOMETHING to clue you in; I'm sure those 2 hours must have felt like 2 days. By now you must have spoken to the doctor. I really hope everything is okay.

To all-
Well, regarding my UTI, it turned out to not be a UTI, which I am quite relieved about. I now know that it must be spasms due to the extra 'baby pressure'. Every time I have a minor scare, it always makes me want to see the baby to check and make sure everything is ok. I think my doc will do an u/s on March 6 (my next appointment).

I didn't see anyone's pics except Seltzers. They didn't show up for me. Hmmm.. how can I see them on photobucket?

Hope everyone is well. Later!

Hi

Post by gori »

Shari, unfortunately, it's not good news. My blood/hormonal tests show a 1 in 46 chance of Down syndrome. I have no family history of down syndrome, my first child thru normal preg, is also perfectly fine. I just turned 35 [not too far from the cut off], plus my NT screening was all good. Even after all these +ves, my blood result of 1 in 46 is certainly a very high chance [should have been 1 in 180]. So my gynae recommended amnio. I had anyway scheduled an amnio, given that this is an ICSI and my HCG levels were quite high in the beginning of the pregnancy. I have been really stressed since I heard this, but I cannot do anything but wait. Amnio is another 2 weeks away and the results will be available in 1-2 weeks after that. So overall, a 4 week wait. I know some times there are false positives, however, since all my other factors were so good/positive, I cannot help but think that my hormone levels are indicating something bad! Any positive stories with a similar background as mine, would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Gori - UGGGHHH!!! That is why I HATE these stupid tests (even though we also did the nuchal scan testing)!!! I always hear horror stories that all end up working out well in the end!! I have a very good friend who went through exactly what you are going through. Her results came back bad and she freaked out for a couple of weeks and then had an amnio. Well, lo and behold - the amnio showed everything was fine!!! I HATE THESE TESTS!!! I DO! I just feel like they make us worry for nothing many times!! I am almost kicking myself for doing it now - even if ours did come back fine. Do a separate post in the pregnant after treatment area or ask around - I bet you will find lots of false positives. I don't know what else to say to make you feel better as I know I would also be freaking out, but these damn tests can be wrong so many times. It sucks! We are here for you and just know that it is just a test. It has not proven anything. Keep your faith and think positive.

Shari - glad to hear you don't have a UTI - yeah!

Rebecca - 38DD? You go girl!! :) I don't seem to be growing as quickly up there as other areas....you know, like my fat a--!!!  I wish it would just go to my boobs and leave my butt and stomach to be for a while!!

Marybeth - I am sure the growing pains are starting to really work on you - with the twins! Just take it easy and try to relax as much as possible! My husband sang a song to the baby when we woke up this morning - it was so damn cute. He rubbed my belly and sang. So precious....

Hello to everyone else! I gotta get going and finish packing. I am none too pleased about having to head to Chicago tomorrow for that winter madness after we have been enjoying temps in the 70's and 80's down here in Texas. Yuck! After that, I am off for the weekend for my girl's wine trip (minus the wine for me, thank you! ). Oh well, we are going to go out to dinner, stay up chatting, shop, etc - should be fun! Most of them have 2-3 kids now so this is their annual escape!

Take care all!!!

Hello to all!

Love the photobucket pics! Thanks for setting that up MBG! By the way, I saw your name on the cute u/s shots (love the 'baby A' 'baby B'), and I have to tell you that Griffin is my maiden name! I loved it so much, I really thought about keeping it when I got married! It was kind of traumatic going to the DMV and 'surrendering' my old license with Griffin on it...Oh well, I've always wanted to use it for a boy's name - maybe we'll be able to use it one of these days, who knows?!

seltzer - Thanks for sharing pics of your fam with us! Looks like Nate truly enjoyed his birthday cake! What a sweet little boy!

I'm still having absolutely crazy dreams! Anyone else?? I had a dream the other night that - for some unknown reason - I had to take the SATs, and the person administering the exam was the Italian guy that was on Celebrity Apprentice - he was also on the Soprano's. I can't think of his real name, and his Sprano name is a little disturbing, so I won't go there. I really have to start keeping a dream journal, some of them are hysterical!

Off to dreamland...
