Anyone doing study with Dr Foulk in Reno

Tonya welcome! I would definately say it would be worth the trip. Good luck with AF and the whole process, keep us posted!!

I on the other hand haven't heard anything more from them. I think that I am just in a place that they don't communicate very well about the whole thing. I always do the calling and it is a little bit annoying!! I might call them, but I will wait to see!!!

Karen how come they put you in the second group or are you in the first group??

Kari ~ My cycles are not on time to do it in March. The sign up was too late for Dr. Foulk to truly go forward with March. I can't start any meds at all until I am signed into the study. Last time I checked I still have final consent forms to sign but I got the first round signed. I go in Wednesday for a pre-schedule prior to starting meds.

That is why I am curious as to how Tonya got in so fast. Did your cycles just match up perfectly? I wasn't even allowed to start BCP until I was signed in which puts me at least a month behind the meds for sure.

Kari ~ Call the doc. They may be waiting for the final word from the study as well. I have 90 days to start my meds but I am definetly in the list.

I will keep you posted as to what Wednesday brings.

Karen-Yeah I should call and find out!!! I am so sorry that your cycle wouldn't fit. Yeah that is weird at how that whole thing worked out. They told me that we wouldn't be able to do anything until after January 31st after they had their final meeting. So yeah I thought you were going to be in there pretty quickly because you got right in. Well, keep me posted. I might try to call them tomorrow.

Kari ~ Have you called yet? I went in for my health exam for the study this morning. I got my official study confirmation ID number and then they did every test under the world to make sure I am normal before starting. he he. It was everything under the hood and more check up. Blood draw, urine test, pap smear, weight, blood pressure, temperature, breast exam, lungs, thyroid and whatever else I missed. Yes I am on my way. Got done at 10:30 and I hadn't had coffee yet so I stopped at star bucks and got my fix. he he. It is so windy out there on the roads. OH MY. All of which that was done at my apt cost $0.00 since it is covered under the study. SWEET.

Oh, I can have my caffeine and eat what I want. Just have to follow the drug protocol like if I were pg. Also have to start Prenatal and I am good. LOL.

I also got my lovely Pink Bible journal, That is what I call it. I have to track any drug, health problems, headaches and report each time I go in. So I have it in my purse at all times.

Tonya ~ Did you get your trusted Pink Bible too? Are you on any meds yet?

Karen- I am so jealous. No I haven't heard anything and I am just starting to wonder about them. I just had my nasal surgery and I sound terrible, so I am going to wait and give them until Friday and then maybe give them a call. It makes me wonder if they didn't pick me and now no one wants to tell me. But we will see.

Kari ~ How are things going for you? Did you hound your RE with information yet?

I went in for my overall testing and just waiting to hear back. Dr. Foulk doesn't do IVF in April so it will be awhile before I start my meds. I am ok just keeping in touch with the office to make sure they don't forget about me.

Tonya ~ You came and left. How is everything going with you? Are you on meds yet? What kind? I need to live through someone right now until I get to start.

Kimberly ~ Glad to have someone local to pick your brain and get to know someone in the area. No excuse to become the hermit I have always dreamt of. LOL

Poking in to say hello to everyone. I have been getting horrible sinus headaches and with the study unable to take good meds to drug myself. LOL> Hubby is allready being so attentive though. I think I will be able to have him wrapped fully around my finger her shortly. LOL.

Karen-I finally talked to them. I am still on the list, they are just waiting for me to call and say AF has come. So if he doesn't do IVF in April when is he going to do it?? They said May to me as the second wave. So you have a sinus problem. That is what happened to me, I had allergies and then because of my first IVF I couldn't take anything. It came worse and worse. Until nothing would heal it, so I had to have nasal surgery. Good luck with it!!!

Oh Kari I haven't had sinus problems to the extent of having to have surgery. I feel for you. OUCH. I get sinus headaches when the weather changes and it makes me nauseous. Dh was awesome with giving me the bedroom, no noise, and completely black out in the room. It helped. Definetly have to find alternative ways to get through. I will do what ever possible to make the odds better in my favor for the IVF in may. I have to call on my next cycle too. Should be in about 19 days. he he.

IVF sounds like it will work for you. Would be cool to be in Reno together and have lunch if that were possible. I really am lucky you started this group. Thank you.

Karen-Do they have you on BCP yet?? I was wanting to wait one more month before I start them. What do you think? AF should be coming today or tomorrow, maybe even Tuesday. I really just want to wait for BCP until I absolutely have to!! I would love to go to lunch down there if we can!!! Keep me posted

Hey- I just came across this thread. It caught my eye because I'm in the middle of a IVF/ICSI cycle with Dr. Foulk in Boise right now. I'm on my 3rd day of stims and hoping that lots of eggs are growing. This study your all involved in sounds great. How did you all get so lucky? Did they just volunteer it to you or did you meet certain criteria? Because I just put close to $10,000 on my credit card last week and I'm thinking a few trips to Reno would have been cheaper. We live in Pocatello and were going to the University of Utah and decide to switch clinics for various reasons. But they really are great at Dr. Foulks office. Good Luck to everyone!!

Kari ~ NO not on BCP yet. Probably will call start of my next cycle to get things going. I am on cd 9 right now so probably in 2 weeks. I have short cycles.

JenJen ~ I received a call from Dr.Foulks office on New Years Eve saying I qualified for the study. They saught me out which really scared me because when they called I hadn't a clue what they were talking about. I was geared up for regular IVF/ICSI just like you.. When do you go in for IVF????

Karen- I wish I would have got one of those phone calls...Happy New Year I guess. We have male factor infertility so I wonder if they were looking for female factor. But that's great for anyone who can get help with this process. I'm on day 4 of stims and go in for my ultrasound on Saturday March 1, and then everyday until they say otherwise. I think high school state tournament are this weekend so we might go watch some games while were there.

Karen- I did call on CD 1 and they haven't called me back to say start bcp or anything. SO I hope I won't have to start for one or two more cycles!! Anyway keep me posted.

JenJen-My embryologist was asked about it. He remembered me from my 1st go round of IVF. I was one that shocked him that I didn't get pregnant. He said he felt so bad that it hadn't worked. So he said he recomended me, but I also fit the criteria. That is all I really know about it!! It was weird, my embryologist actually contacted me to see if they called me about it. Which they hadn't and he found out that I had been picked and gave me the number of who to call. I am in Utah and doing it through the people in Utah with Dr Foulk traveling to Utah. It is weird with the communication. Nothing like what Karen has had. She has signed consents and everything and I haven't had anything like that. But, I will take what I can get. Like you said much cheaper!!! I am still paying on my first round of IVF. Can't wait for round 2. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

JenJen ~ I have male factor as well. Little guys numbers just aren't there that is why we have to go with IVF/ICSI. I am praying that with me being in good health that this will work. It will work. Staying positive. I will be thinking of you this weekend. How long do you have to rest after the transfer?

Kimberly ~ It was so good to talk to you on the phone and pick your brain. Your positivity is contageous and that is all I am thinking about. This will happen and if not we go on. Did you make it to the Cabin on Sunday? I can't wait to explore the area more.

Kari ~ Yeah, I haven't heard a peep from my initial physical for the study. I am not worried though since Dr. Foulk doesn't do April IVF so I have to be May. I can't beleive how calm I am about this. It is very gratifying.

Me, things are uneventful. Work is keeping me busy which is good but I like to feel a bit in control a bit and like I have things in order. This job definetly doesn't give me that capability. I am doing the job of 3 people and they want us to find how to cut 5-10% more. Impossible. I have job security right?

kholt- Which clinic did you go to in Utah? We need sevral cycles at UofU but for various reasons we decided to switch to Dr. Foulk. But everytime I make that drive from Pocatello to Boise and see nothing but sage brush and interstate I wonder why. The drive to SLC goes by much faster. Anyway I'm just wonder if you went to the UofU or had any experience with them.

Karen- We have male factor issues too. The numbers are there they just don't swim. We went to Dr. Foulk for our initial consult right before christmas they probably already had there people in mind for the study. I plan on 3 days of bed rest after the transfer. We've done this so many times I have a ritual now. I've had 2 BFP and 2 BFN so I compare what I did different and try to do everything I can. I'll have to share my tips!!

It's nice to find some ladies closer to home. I was following another thread and it got kind of annoying because there were so many people on it that you couldn't keep it straight. Plus many of them were from back east and almost everyones insurance covered IVF. I can't imagine what a blessing that would be if our insurance covered IVF.
