Day 3 bloodwork

Is this taken while you are on BCP? My clinic is in Denver and I'm in Ohio so I would have to have it done locally and shipped there. But I haven't had my first appt yet and the nurse there said she can't give me instructions yet. I start my period soon and don't want to wait a whole month because she can't tell me what to do yet. I guess I might not have a choice though...I thought about asking my gyno here but I'm doubt they would take it just because I ask. Any info would be great!

Lizzae - my day 3 bloodwork (to check for ovarian reserve) was done on my CD3, 3rd day of my menstrual cycle.

Did I interpret your question right?

Sorry, I was asking do they do this the month before I begin my BCP or while I'm on my BCP.

Hi there,
My doc instructed me to have my day 2-3 bloodwork before i start the bcp. he said you can start the bcp up to five days after you start your period, making day one any day of the week. i think the hormones in the bcp would give false readings in your bloodwork, as they want 'natural' conditions. hope that helps!

I haven't had my first appointment yet either but I started my AF yesterday (today is actually first day of full flow though). I'm wondering if I can't call them and ask them fax some sort of order to the local Lab place and let them do it on Saturday so I don't have to wait till the end of March to have it redone.

It's just a simple blood test, so I don't see any reason why not.

You can have it done at your doctor's office...they'll send it to the lab & then when you get the results you can send it to your RE wherever they are.
I don't think you'd need to send the actual sample...it's a very common test.
You do it the month before the IVF cycle & bcp so you know where you stand & are prepared in advance for what your protocol will be.

Lizz.....if you're RE is CCRM I can give you an idea what my calendar was like with them. My nurse at CCRM also won't commit to giving me any clue what my calendar is until AF arrives

Thanks Rinnie....sadly my Gyne office and Dr office aren't open on Saturday (which is day 3), so where would I go? Most of the 'lab' places have to have an order to do this.
