Hi everyone. I am new to this board. I was just wondering if any of you have extremely low HCG numbers on the first and second blood tests and then went on to have a baby. My first blood test on 2/26 was only 9 and my second on 2/28 was 16. They are only giving me about 10% chance of having this baby. This is my second attempt in the last year. I had a miscarriage in Sept 07. We are going through IVF for PGD and have since discovered my egg quality isnt great. Any information anyone has would be great.
I have not heard of a story similar to yours. I do know that it is a positive sign that your numbers are rising! Try searching "IVF low betas" to find other stories. Good luck!
AmandaM,
I was very distraught after my first blood test at 13 days past 3dt. My HCG level was 84. I spoke with the doctor and he reassured me with two great stories. He's been in the ART business for over 20 years and told me about two patients he'd had in the past. The clinic always tests on day 16 and one woman's HCG level was 22. She went on to carry twins successfully and had a T-shirt made that said "Two for 22" (or something like that). The other patient had a day 16 level of 18 and went on to successfully carry one child.
So, hang in there, there really is hope. I was so relieved after I spoke with the doctor. Everyone is very different.
Dear Amanda,
one of the women on our thread had a 1st beta of 16 and a 2nd of 23, they thought there was no chance and told her to stop her meds, but she fought, kept on the meds, and made them do a couple more betas-
her 4th was 1182!!!! and is now about 8wks BFP with twins!!!
Hang in there, and if you are not ready to give up, don't let those doctors give up on you either- you have worked too hard to get here
