fetal movements at 22 weeks

Hi everyone - can anyone help here? Last Wed I had my first real sensations of movements - some "popping", "bubbling" and it was really cool - I Knew finally that I was feeling the baby - but since then (it's now Sunday) there's been nothing like this at all.

Have had the odd tweak and twinge in the lower ab but nothing is reassuring me at all.

Can anyone relate - I really want to call my dr and will probably do so first thing but if this sounds familiar please let me know.

Oh man, do I remember that! You finally feel the baby move and think "yeah, now my worries are over", only I hate to tell you that the worries have only begun! At 22 weeks I think it's normal to feel only sporadic movement--the baby is still small enough that he/she can hide! It will get more regular as the weeks progress...and at least in a few weeks if the baby isn't moving you can poke on your belly & get it going. My mom likes to joke that the reason Lucy doesn't sleep now is because I never let her sleep in utero!

So, yes, Ang, back to your question, I think you are fine! It's so scary, huh?

Hi Meg - thanks for your reply. I ended up calling my dr and he sent me to the hospital for a "reassuring check" - of course everything was fine - the heartbeat strong and the nurse said she could feel little kicks through my stomach! You're right though - the stress continues!

Hey Angie!

Try drinking orange juice or stuff with a bit of sugar and that will usually get them moving. I also agree with one of those at home dopplar thingys. They didn't have those when I was pregnant, but I think it would be a must now.

I would recommend the doppler too. I got one right around my amnio time & it's been wonderful. I don't over do it of-course but the reassurance of knowing I can check anytime I am anxious, is priceless. I got a rental one as I wanted hospital grade quality, yet didn't want to purchase since it's so expensive. If you want, you can go for a regular one or better yet, if you can, go for a digital one with display of heart-beat count. I didn't get the one that shows heart-beat count. Only thing is that sometimes it could get confusing when you hear your own heart-beat. Even though your own heart beats at a much lower pace, so it's easy to differentiate. But I would recommend the one with display. The moment you see above 100 beats per min, you know it's your little one!!
