Hi everyone. I am new to this board. I was just wondering if any of you have extremely low HCG numbers on the first and second blood tests and then went on to have a baby. My first blood test on 2/26 was only 9 and my second on 2/28 was 16. They are only giving me about 10% chance of having this baby. This is my second attempt in the last year. I had a miscarriage in Sept 07. We are going through IVF for PGD and have since discovered my egg quality isnt great. Any information anyone has would be great.
Hi. I don't have the same experience but wanted to let you know not to give up. Your post got to me because you said your egg quality was not great. I was under the impression that they cannot measure the quality of the eggs -just the ovarian reserve and quality of embryos. After my second IVF failed my previous RE asked us to consider donor eggs. He said my eggs may be of poor quailty. I was not ready for that and chose to get another opinion and treatment from a different RE. This RE explained that it may have been the quality of the embryo which can be affected by many factors including the quality of the embryology lab. I am glad I went to another RE - my 3rd IVF resulted in a pg. I'm not saying it will work for everyone, but I do think it's important to get as much information as you can. Good luck to you.
Hi, my experience is different, i have had 2 low beta results but both mine went straight down and ended in bio-chemical pregnancy (where the pregnancy ends before heartbeat detected on ultrasound). I had further tests and was found to have a clotting problem, on my third FET i also took 75mg aspirin to help with the clotting and it worked, i am half way through expecting twins, both embryo's stuck.
I know it is very hard and i hope you get good results my clinic have seen a live birth from an initial beta of 3, so never give up hope. If it does all end please take the positive that you can get pregnant, it will happen.
Keep the faith and good luck.
Me 39, DH 40. TTC 5years

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I am trying to keep positive but at the same time be realistic. The reason they feel that there is an egg quality problem is that there is a lot of fragmentation and uneven cells when they look at them on day 3. They are having a hard time dividing. They feel giving me a growth horomone for 10 days will improve the quality of the eggs, (If we do need to go a third time.) At least I have time on my side. Congrats on your twins!. I wish you both the best of luck.
