NEw thread for DI pals!

Post by caz1 »

Hi millie, max, jen, july ann and whoever else I may have missed out!

Just thought after 4 pages of our old thread, I'd start a new one for 2004 - lets hope its a good one!

Nothing much else to say - just HAppy Happy New year to you all

O one thing - had update with clinic - nothing new really - will start ICSI (with donor back up) in MArch. I wanted to try to use a USA donor clinic, but the consultant has given me the fear by saying they arent well regulated and you cant be sure what your gonna get!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
So back to the drawing board on that one

Spent the morning with some old pals and their beautiful babies - yes, am V V jealous! One of them looks NOTHING like her parents tho - made me feel a LITTLE better about the DI thing - I mean whos to know how common it is? (I know this baby is NOT DI, but I guess my point is - she could have been and noone would HAVE to have known any better????)

OK - REALLY rambling now - and not sure am making any sense!

Off to go and eat more eggs and bacon - as am on New Year Atkins attempt!

Love to all

Hi there

Just to let you all know that I tested +ive on New Years Eve on our second attempt at DIUI - still can't believe it and it is really early days. First scan 27th!! seems like ages away.

Will keep my eye on you all, and no doubt the donor debate will continue.
Good luck and all the best to you all in your dreams - roll on 2004!

Hi girls, what a great idea a new thread was Caz! Glad you are all well and looking forward to positives in 2004! Congrats to Lisa who must be absolutely over the moon - only second go too!

Caz, so you'll be starting ICSI in March with donor back up. How many ICSI's/DI's have you had previously? I get everyone's details mixed up and get confused about who has done what - bit dizzy like that! Can I ask why you were interesed in using a donor from a USA clinic?

July Ann, I hope your tests go well, what sorts of tests are they? can you remind me what you have had so far as well?

I will be, hopefully, going back to DIUI. I am being referred to a local consultant now as I cannot cope with the travelling to London anymore, its a good two hour journey each way for us. It seems obvious that IVF does not work well for me as the majority of my embies tend to arrest on Day 3 (this has happened both times) and, in any case, not sure if I could go through another one. I have over the last 18 months had 7 failed IUI's (had my little girl on my first ever go! so was a bit surprised that all these subsequent goes failed). However, the fifth go was with super ovulation, the previous four had been Clomid only, and I got a chemical pg and after the sixth they found a polyp which was then removed. As we are completely unaware as to how long that had been there and that these can act as a coil, we didn't know whether that could have been the reason for so many failures. Following its removal we only had one more IUI which was neg so am hoping in the light of the polyp, they will let me continue with IUI.

Anyway, lets hope 2004 brings us all luck and I guess Lisa, you will move over to the other side soon, but I hope you'll let us know how you are getting on.

Lots of love

Hi Caz/Guys

Good idea this new thread!!

Caz - really pleased to hear your news for March!! It is a relief to know that something is happening.

I am in the middle of injecting for my first ISCI with donor backup as Caz knows........and I hate the injections!! Despite having done nurse training (never worked as a nurse!!) I find it so difficult doing this .....also I don't know if anyone found this but Buserelin is making me so tired I can barely be bothered getting up!??

Anyway good luck to all of us for 2004

Caz - when is your holiday and where are you going?? I am so envious, I would kill for a holiday....... i sooo need one!!

Love

Hello there!
michelle- in answer to yr Q (dont worry I am constantly getting everyones details mixed up!) - this will be 2nd ICSI - we had no back up last time and got 3 embies, 2 good enough to transfer - none took. V awful. But amazing how you bouce back.....
Doing same again this time - but I think we'll be a bit more organised about donor backup - in case they get no sperms from dh (they have to get the surgically which can result in none).
The reason we looked into using a US bank - was simply that there so much more choice. But its expensive-most UK clinics dont use US donors and theres the whole issue about how trust worthy the big US (massively profitable) donor banks are.....so I think we will take our chances with what availble here. We just got really disappointed last time when it was all left to the last minute and the choice was REALLY limited and totally inappropriate.

Anyway - fingers crossed we'll get luckier this time!

July ann - how much longer on injections have you got to go? I found them OK -I was on Prostap (or something beginning with P anyway!). Must say tho not relishing the thought of starting again - I was covered in bruises!
Off on hols in 2 weeks - to sit in the sun and drink (well you've got to really) a bit of vino! CANT WAIT.

Glad to see some positive results with DI.

We are on our second "natural" DI tmt.

I was inseminated on Monday and Tuesday but had ovulated by Wednesday. Does this seem normal to everyone? I am concerned that I've only been inseminated twice each tmt. It doesn't seem enough. and WHY won't they inseminate after I've ovulated? (just for good luck?) :?

I've had 2 ICSI tmts but we were told that it had less than 3% chance of working as my eggs don't like to be injected and DH's sperm don't swim well enough for IVF. I find the DI more stressful and unpleasant than ICSI as I never see the same nurse/doctor twice, there is no follow up session to discuss feelings/way forward etc, they make me feel like I am a nuisance. During ICSI, the staff were fantastic.

Sorry to moan on and on but I am feeling confused and isolated. Do you have the same experiences and I am just being over sensitive?

hi girls

womphas I had di last month i had a surge on friday morning then went in and had one di then went back on saturday for another di. When I went in on friday I could see the egg but when I went on saturday the egg had gone. so I did ovulate just after di and as the sperm can live for days. so please do not worry it will be fine. I found the di so much easier than icsi.

diana sorry to hear about your partner. Cannot beleive he has done that to you.

well I have to go in on the 22 for them to have a look around, then we will see what can be done next.

well catch up soon

Hello all
di - so pleased you have joined us. Cant BELIEVE that about yr dh - but I suppose it must have been so hard for him to deal with. I bet its not that uncommon (not that thats meant to make you feel any less angry about it!)
Sounds like you are very sorted and philosophical about it.
30 weeks" Do you know what yr having yet?

Hi Julyann - hope it goes well for you on the 22 - not TOO long to wait

Went to a councellor on Friday - cried ALOT! Actually was OK but we're more confused now than before. We have REALLY decided not to tell anyone even possibly the child - and the councellor asked if I would be able to sleep at night - well of course thats opened up the whole debate again - cause the answer is NO!

Love to all!

hi caz and girls

i dont no what im having want a surprise

i dont think anyone can answer on wether to tell people about di
what matters is that we will all love our babies anyway, and i think you might decide when child is older to tell them or not
as years later things happen and you might decide to tell child i dont think there are any answers you just have to do what is right for you
and no that you will love baby no matter what
good luck to you all
love
