Thought I'd see if anyone else has had a DS or DD from IVF and is now trying for #2...I think you have slightly different feelings...just wanted to see if there's someone else to talk with about this...
Yep -- I'm waiting to start my 4th cycle now....when AF arrives in a couple of weeks I start bcps, then lupron, stims, etc....
I'll probably be doing er/et in mid-late april timeframe, if all goes well.
I feel really hopeful but also realistic - I'm 39 (40 soon), so I know I'm lucky to have been able to have one baby and if I can have another, it will be really a miracle, but we want to try!
I feel the same in that I feel hopeful and excited but I am so happy to have our son that I won't be as devastated as when we really wanted to have our first.
I think my FET will be around mid-April too. It's so nice to chat with others on here and realize there are women going through all this everywhere. Good luck to you too!
Good afternoon ladies. I have one dd cnceived through my very first IVF. WOW!!!! Then last summer, I thought, well it worked the first time it HAS to work this time. It didn't and I was sooo very devistated.
However, we are going to do a FET in June. I am extremely hopeful that it works, as this will be our last go round. DH and I are both teachers, no insurance for IVF, so we really can't afford to do this again.
However, God has blessed us with a wonderful dd and as much as we would love another, we are thankful for dd.
I hope we all get the BFP that we are so desiring.

Jomae- Thanks for your encouragement and congratulations to you!! I guess I'm bummed to hear that your FET didn't work cuz I think we'll just do 1-2 FETs depending on if the embryos make the thaw and that will be it for us, I think. I don't think we'll do any more fresh cycles but I guess you never know. Hope all continues well for you.
hrobinson- Sounds like we have a lot in common! I too was so lucky to have my ds on our very first IVF. I guess we did do lots of IUIs that never worked but they told us they probably wouldn't and we were paying out of pocket. Then we were lucky enough to get insurance that covered it so that paid for the first IVF. Now we have 3 frozen embies so we are going to do 1-2 FETs(and we don't have coverage again so we'll pay) and that will probably be it. Did you do a FET last summer or was it a fresh cycle? I think I sort of feel that way too that if it worked once it should work again but I know that might not be the case. I wish you all the best with your FET in June. I try to remember we have our ds so I hope I will not be too devastated if the FETs don't work but I bet that I will be a little sad. But like you said, I hope we all get BFPs too!! Thanks for listening!
Laura
Hi, ladies I too have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Morgan was born in May of 06 and was the result of our 2nd IVF cycle. Since then I have tried 3 FETs without any luck. I was a lot more upset by this then I thought I would be. I think subconsciously I thought it would be easier the second time...you always hear that, right?!
I am currently in the midst of 3rd IVF cycle. I just had the retrieval yesterday. I guess I am not thinking very positively as they only retrieved 8 eggs and only 2 fertilized (as opposed to the last time 15 eggs and 13 fertilized!) I just hope they continue to do well...it only takes on, right?
Best of luck to all of you.

Brandy- My son was also born in May of 06! It sounds like a lot of women are telling me that they were very upset not to have success again trying for #2. I think I will be more upset than I am expecting myself to be if it doesn't work out again because like you said, you think it'll be easier the second time or that if it worked once, it should work again, right?!
It definitely only takes one and you and I are lucky enough to have our 5-06 babies to prove it! I wish you all the best Brandy and I hope you have success again. When is your 2ww over?
Thank you, laura, for starting this thread!
I agree it is a different set of feelings and emotions going thru all of this for another child.
I haven't decided yet, when to start another IF cycle, maybe within a few months.
Our FET resulted in a BFN. It was much harder to take than I thought, but I did find comfort in my beautiful miracle DD.
Questions for you ladies, need an opinion. We have an opportunity to have insurance help to pay this time around, but we would have to switch RE's.
I am not sure what to do...
Do we stay where we had success the first time?
or
Do we try a new RE and insurance can help with the co$t?
I have looked at the success rates, but I also know there are a lot of factors that go into those rates.
For example, the new RE has a slightly lower success rate for my age group, but that clinic also takes on a lot of high risk cases. Where as my first RE does not.
I am perplexed and I don't know what to do...I think whatever I choose, it will be the wrong choice!
Any opinions??
Sorry for the babbling... alot on my mind.

Hi Beth- I'm glad you saw this thread...I'm sorry again about your FET. As far as your dilemma right now, it sounds like you have a great opportunity to possibly have coverage. We had coverage our first time and it was awesome because we hardly paid anything out of pocket. Now this time, we'll have to pay but at least it's a frozen cycle. I felt it was worth it to have the coverage, especially if you are doing another fresh cycle. If the success rates are only slightly lower but they take on harder cases, it would seem that it would be ok to switch. You and your dh could at least have a consult with the new RE to see if you get good vibes after going there maybe. Good luck and I hope I helped some.
Thanks for the advice, I know you are right, the coverage would be nice. I am just afraid of moving from where we were successful and not being successful somewhere else.
We keep going back and forth on what to do.
But since money is an issue, we may just switch.
Or at least just set up a meeting to see how we like the new clinic.
I am still not ready to start again!
soon soon soon soon.

Hi Beth- Are you going to take a month or two off? Are you doing another FET or a fresh cycle? When we picked where to go in IL, I remember that there were at least a few really good places to go to so that's good to know...but that's a great idea to just see what you think at the other place. Good luck!
Laura- So good to see this thread still going. In response to your question, we did another fresh cycle last summer. We were fortunate to have 4 embies left over. However, they are not of the best grade. I worry about doing our FET this summer because it did devistate me when I got my BFN.
I know I was blessed with my dd, but I so want another child.
Because our insurance does not pay a penny of this that also makes it harder on us. All I could think of last summer was that was $15000 of dd college money gone.
However, if it would have worked I would never have thought like that. So, I need to get over it.
I have been praying a bunch for God's will in this, and hopefully that will give me some peace either way.
Also, due to my endo. dr. does not recommend doing another fresh cycle. He says the meds will spread the endo more than it already has. so....
Anyway, just saw this thread was still going, and thought I would pop in.
Brandy- When do you find out if it worked? Please let us know.
I'm new to this message board. I'm glad to see this thread. I think it is different when trying for #2. I feel different.
I had a BFN from a fresh cycle in Feb. I was much more upset about it than I thought I'd be -- I think because it worked the first time and I really thought it would just work the second. My amazing dd keeps me sane.
I have a question/need some advice. I have a bunch of frozen embryos. Insurance will cover one more cycle. I was thinking I'd do another fresh cycle to maximize the chances. Is it crazy to go through all the shots when we have frozen embryos?
Beth -- I agree it makes sense to meet with the new RE. If you're comfortable with them, it may be worth is to have it covered. You could save the money and go back to the first one if you need to.
Sorry for my long note. I also have so much on my mind.
Sorry ladies for the delayed response. I have my blood test on March 14th. I am so nervous...this 2ww thing kills me. I said I wouldn't obsess about it this time, but...I am! I have endometriosis and it really messes with my ability to read my body. I have a lot of hope, but can't help but think that if I am feeling pain from my endo then it is probably a bfn...but I don't know that for sure. I forget how I felt with my daughter if you can believe that?!
