Received negative (hpt) 6dpt (fresh cycle)...any hope???

Post by First Timer »

Hi everyone,
I'm first time IVF'er, me- 32, DH- 37, male factor (low sperm count- under 2MM). TTC 2 yrs., 5 unsuccessful IUI's, Ist. IVF- ET w. ICSI last Sunday March 2nd., 2 grade A's. I'm scheduled for blood test this Friday 3/14. Anticipation is killing us so I took HPT yesterday AM and received negative...is there still hope??? I keep reading HCG trigger from fresh cycle can prove invalid results. I would appreciate any words of advice or better yet, success stories! Feeling pretty normal- period-like symptoms, tender breats, a bit crampy, tired as usual and as you can see emotional! :(

Thanks & baby dust to all,

6dpt????? You need to wait till ATLEAST 10dpt. I think you jumped the gun just a little here.

This is a common question here.

You are testing too early. That result means nothing, as it would be almost impossible to get a positive yesterday.

You might try again in a couple of days. If you get a positive, congratulations, you're pregnant. If you get a negative, wait a couple more days and try again, or wait for the blood test. These HPTs are not nearly as good as the blood test.

The hCG from your injection cannot cause a negative, but it can cause a false positive. If you had used the HPT on the day of transfer, for example, it probably would have shown positive from the injected hCG.

First Timer...looks like you are definitely testing way too early. I did a 6 day transfer too and got a positive blood test. Didn't do the HPT's ...too chicken! But, I felt the same as I always do and felt like af was about to come. Had the cramps, moodiness and tired as usual. Most of these symptoms are from the progesterone too. Try to stay positive and keep yourself busy. I know it's always on your mind but a few distractions may help.

Good luck and hoping for a BFP!

I tested 7dp6dt and got a positive, everyone is different especially if your pee stick is looking for a certain level of hormone... Wait for your beta, thats your most conclusive result.. Keep in mind that we all would like ivf to work for us the first time, most of the time it doesnt. With protocols its all about trial and error and even tho you may not like to hear this, it takes a person the average of 3x for a succesful ivf. Sure there are people who arre not in this statistic but those are the rare cases. It took me 3rd times a charm! Hang in there its not over till its ova!

Way too early. I didn't get a positive hpt until the day before my first beta.

The good news is now you know if you get a postive on hpt its not from the trigger shot its a real BFP!

Fingers crossed!

I figured that if I took a HPT the reults would be skewed no matter what. Therefore, I decided to wait until blood test. I understand how anxious you are; it is difficult not to be. I just listened to my body and I new what the results were going to be (so did my hubby). Of course I kept doubting them though, it's hard not to when one is in our situation.
I was an emotional wreck at first. I cried over the silliest things, could feel things going on in my uterus, , overly moody, and was incredibly tired (going to bed around 7:00p.m.). Other symptoms kicked in within the next couple of weeks. However, I have a 2 year old son and have had 3 miscarriages since him, so I know the good and bad signs to look for in my body. This is our first time going through IVF and we have a big fat positive  It certainly can happen and it has in many situations. Think positively and listen to your body.
