Hello Ladies-

MBG- Thanks for the support regarding my work stress. You are right, it IS only a job. I am gonna stick it out (hopefully) till I go on maternity leave, but definitely keeping my options open for next year. Can't wait to see your belly as it progresses  .

Rebecca- Congratulations on your healthy baby boy! It makes it that much more exciting, huh? Have fun picking out color schemes!

Tina- I was LAUGHING while reading your post about all the 'made up' symptoms. I confess to doing something similar this past doctor's appointment; I told my doc I was still nervous about my amniotic fluid scare. He then directed me over to the examining table. Yay us!

Gori- Sorry about the stress you're going through. Please don't apologize, as we've all had our share (I know I have!) of reporting scary pregnancy moments, and that's a big part of what this forum is about. I am thinking positive thoughts for your upcoming amnio. I really do have a positive feeling about it, and I'm sending it your way :)

Seltzer- Congrats on your successful u/s. It is such an exciting moment to see that all is as it should be, and I'm glad it went so well. You sound so much better than at the beginning of your pregnancy, I'm happy for you.

As for me, my m/s may be letting up slightly. Today was a spring day here in Israel, and it definitely lifted my spirits. I have a cold so didn't get out much, but I felt 'spring' in the air. I had an u/s on Thursday, and I saw the baby sucking a thumb again! It was really cute, and my doc said it looks like my uterus (and baby) are growing nicely. All in all, I'm doing pretty well  .

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Ladies,

It's so good to hear that everyone is doing well. I had my appt w/ the OB/GYN today. My DH and I got to hear the heartbeat. Sounded like baby was really active. It was beating really fast. It was beating faster than I heard last week. My DH was really touched.

My employer is scheduling a "Spa Day" for us girls @ work. I asked my Dr. about it. I'm restricted to none of the services that can be provided! I can't even get something invasive like a pedicure/manicure. Oh, well ... My Dr. said that "your baby is a special baby and we have to take these precautions. You've come this far"...

On to other things, I got my blood test back. I have an appointment w/ a Mternal-Fetal Medicine specialist. I'm having a Targeted Obsterical Ultrasound and Aminocentesis. I have no choice on the Aminocentesis as far as that goes. My bloodwork came back as:
Down Syndrome Age risk: 1:115
Down Syndrome Screen Risk: 1:181

The aminocentesis results will not be available until 7-10 days after the 14th. I'll be able to find out the sex which I'm requesting not to do so. I just want to know "yes" or "no" for down syndrome. My DH was asking if it comes up positive. I told him that we'll cross that bridge when we have to. Right now, it's hard not to worry and relax.

This is what we get for playing the waiting game. Our careers and buying a house came first then getting married. Then my husband was in denial of getting tested to find out who was responsible for not getting pregnant.

And yes, my doctor is still requesting that we keep quiet about our pregnancy until further notice.

Hi Everyone,
Finally I have some time to catch up on the personals. It was wonderful yesterday to find out the sex of the baby & most importantly to find out that everything looks healthy and normal. This is my miracle baby and will probably be my one & only. To find out it's a little boy makes it a little less abstract, it's all the more real. We went to my little niece's birthday party today and I got lots & lots of congratulations. We only have little girls in our family so far, lots & lots of little girls. I'll need to read up on how to take care of a little boy. I guess I just assumed it would be a girl too, but I'm very excited about having a little boy.

Seltzer -congrats on seeing a healthy baby on your scan! You'll have to give me tips on baby boys. We almost didn't find out the sex either but at the last minute he showed off for us.

Shari -I'm glad you're hanging in there and the baby's doing well. Some women have m/s pretty much through out the pregnancy. Hopefully yours will be letting up soon but if not you may want to ask your MD about a prescription for Zofran.

Tina -your posts always crack me up. I always look forward to reading them. I'm glad you had a good girls weekend & got your scan.

Marybeth -my belly measures 36" across now too but I only have one in there. I keep meaning to post a belly shot, but I'm slack.

Gori -I'm so sorry you've had such a rough pregnancy so far. Hopefully it will get much better. I want to wish you the best of luck on the amnio -I hope the results put your mind at ease. Also, be patient with the doppler. Sometimes it's hard to find the baby's heartbeat with one of those. I'm a nurse and back in nursing school I remember having a hard time finding the heart beat, so I decided not to rent one myself because I knew I would drive myself crazy with it. But I totally understand why you are renting one.

Karen - What do you mean your MD wants you to hold off on telling people you're pregnant? At 17 weeks?? I feel like I'm getting pretty good medical care but it seems like your MD is way, way more involved. And you're still on the shots too? Bless your heart! It sounds like your amnio is on the same day as Gori's and of course, I want to wish you the best of luck too & hope the results put your mind at ease.

I hope I didn't leave anyone out. Take care & enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Rebecca

Dancinnancy - great pics! You really did grow a lot between 12 and 16 weeks. You look good. Thanks for sharing the pics. I think I watched part of Deliver Me once, but I don't really remember it. I have watched the other birth shows on Discovery a TON, mostly when my DP was preg. There's one that's good with a midwife...I forget the name. All the births are natural and in water. Not that I plan on emulating that but it's fun to watch. Sometimes when the baby is born I get tears in my eyes. I am so emotional now that I'm preg.

tryw8 - I am sorry to hear you have to move on to the amnio, but there are good chances that your results will be normal. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Rebecca - My family too had only girls...I am kind of assuming I will have a girl because of this. When my DP had our son it was a bit of an adjustment because I have no experience with baby boys. But I love it...I just love baby boys. Mine is definitely very boyish--he is pretty tough. When he falls, bumps his head, etc., he cries for a moment but he's more interested in moving on with whatever he was doing. He's very rough and tumble, too...always throwing things around and bashing things.

I am having more GI pain & discomfort in the past few days...it has been rough. It's so hard chasing after a toddler when I am close to throwing up and have pains and distension from my belly button to my boobs. And speaking of boobs, my God, mine feel like lead weights. I am so used to having small boobs, but it has gotten to the point where I'm uncomfortable if I don't wear a totally supportive bra. But hey I should be grateful I don't have the "porn star boobs," LOL! I am on quite the regimen for the constipation/bloating - I take Citrucel 2 times/day, Lactulose (prescription) 2 times/day, probiotics, Gas-X, Peri-Colace...and things are still not working right.

Anyone having trouble breathing? I am out of breath almost all the time, especially when my bloating/constipation/abdominal distension is bad.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi Everyone,

I wish Friday (scheduled u/s and amnio) would get here sooner. I'm trying to stay on the positive.

Just to fill you folks in ...

Rebecca & Seltzer:

I turned the "BIG 4-0" on Thursday. I share the same birthday with my cousin's son. Anyways, my DH and I were invited to a housewarming/birthday celebration that evening. Of course, we went. Of all people, my cousin's GF's mom cornered my husband and asked him, "Hey Mark, your wife is pregnant?"

We hadn't seen them for two years. My husband's reply was and I kid you not, "Oh, no she's not. I would know." He whispered into her ear, "My poor wife has a problem with chronic constipation. That poor girl is full of gas." He said it with a straight face. At times, my husband can say stuff and one can wonder if he's telling the truth or not but then again, one can not put anything past him. My husband was filling me in that my cousin's GF's mom is very observant and is a gossiper so he didn't want her saying anything else. Besides, I'm having the most difficult time hiding my belly @ 4 months. It's become worse after I eat, it's so bloated looking. During the whole time we were at my cousin's townhouse, I sat @ the long end of the dinner table so that no one would notice. I still haven't gain any weight yet but my DH is teasing me about my belly. As for my boobs, they are still looking small.

I'm beginning to understand why my OB/GYN still doesn't want us to say anything ... even @ 17 weeks and counting. It's the unspoken words that we're just starting to realize. With my age and everything else, he wants us to wait till I meet with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist for my amnio and u/s. Depending on the results, we'll probably know by then how to deal with the situation.

My DH has a really close friend who's wife works in the diagnostic lab and deals with the bloodtests. I was pumping her for information regarding a quad test w/out revealing that I'm pregnant. She told me that in a quad test, they are looking at the blood of the mother-to-be. The amnio, they are actually looking at the baby. So, I guess that there is some hope. My DH and I have come this far ... we're only praying for good results.

It's no consolation knowing that my DH will not be available to go to this appointment w/ me. He won't be able to get off from work because someone else in the shop is going to be on vacation. I can't turn to anyone else because of the fact, we are not to share our pregnancy yet.

Thanks again for your well wishes.
I hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend.

Hello Ladies,

Well, it seems that my m/s is FINALLY letting up. No nausea the past few days. Yayyyy! I am still tired, which is fine. I know I need plenty of rest, and I'm lucky I work afternoons/evenings, so I can take a mid-morning nap before work.

Karen- Happy birthday! Hope you had a great day, and hope you have a less stressful pregnancy from here on out. I am glad that you seem to have a good relationship with your doc, and that you trust him. Lots of luck with the upcoming amnio/results.

Seltzer- Sorry to hear your GI problems haven't settled down yet. I wish I had more sage advice, but ginger ale and toast are what worked best for me. To answer your question, yes my breathing is more labored. In general, my body feels less comfortable and it's more difficult to move about. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have major trouble getting up from the floor. I feel weaker than usual, and as if I'm moving in slow motion most of the time. And, I can also relate to the lead-weight boobs. I wake in the morning and 'womp womp', THERE they are. Ah, the joys of pregnancy  .

Rebecca-
Sounds like you had fun sharing the 'boy' news with your family. How exciting! Enjoy every moment, I know I am trying to do just that.

Gotta go rest before work. Later!

Hello everyone!

Shari:So glad to hear your m/s has let up! YEAH!! Now get to eating!! You have a free pass!

I am with you and Seltzer about the whole fullness thing! Before I got pregnant, I was very active.....however ever since I have been pretty unactive, with an occasional walk hear and there. My dad and I went on a 5 mile walk today....not such a good idea...I started to feel these weird cramps and had to sit down quite often...don't think I will do that again until after the babies come!!!

I thought boobs were supposed to stop growing after 10 weeks or so...Mine just continue to get bigger and bigger! I am still able (barely) to wear the same bras, but I think it is about time to get fitted for a maternity bra...anyone have any recommendations...something that is super comfy?

I went in for my 16 week appointment today..little disappointed, as we did not get an u/s :( My dh was so convinced that we were going to get an u/s and find out the sex today. The doc was able to hear the heartbeats rather easily and it was clearly 2 different beats. It was weird..one had a little bit of a higher pitch than the other, maybe because it was beating faster? Still convinced we are having one of each!!
After we left the appointment he(dh) kept on about how he couldn't wait until April 4th (20week appointment)....So when we got home I did a little investigating. I found this place called "Baby View" that does the 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional u/s....however, it takes about 2-3 weeks to get in and you have to have a doc's authorization. By the time we could get in , it will be almost time to get our free u/s....so we are going to tough it out...I told dh we can save the $$ and then get the 3dim u/s at around 25 weeks...how amazing will that be!!!!!!!! I am also excited to see my dh get so excited and involved! It really is sweet! He has had a hard to grasping the reality that I really am pregnant and we really are going to have two babies....I think it is finally sinking in with him and he is getting just as excited as I am!!

Seltzer: Sorry to hear about your continued discomfort!! I just know that someday soon it will let up!! :D

That is all for now....belly rubs to all!!

Marybeth

MBG- My boobs are also getting bigger, and are very sore to the touch. Sorry you and your husband were disappointed not to get an u/s, but at least you got to hear the reassuring flubs of the babies' heartbeats. Hope you get to see them soon!

Hope you are all doing well today. Health and hugs to all...

Hello all! I am sorry I have been so quiet lately - just so busy! We were out of town last weekend visiting my college roommate for her baby shower and I have been working non-stop ever since! I had my husband take a belly pic today so I will get the photos on a disk and download them on the site - I have a 12 week one and today's shot to download. In the mean time, I put one from the shower this weekend that just got e-mailed to me. My college roommate is 7 months pregnant and looks ready to burst! :) Looks like that is where I am heading! I finally got back to my walking today which felt great. With so much going on, I have not been exercising much in the last couple of weeks. Oh well - such is life! We head to the beach this weekend to meet up with my college roommate and her husband for a relaxing weekend - I can't wait!! :) Then I am back out traveling for work.

dancinnancy - you look so cute in your pics!! You have a cute little preggo belly - mine is growing in entirely too many directions right now!!! But you look adorable! :)

Marybeth - You also look great, girl! You ladies are putting my fat butt to shame!! I think I finally went a week without gaining a pound. I am up....drumroll, please...not that this is anything to be proud of....uggghhh....uh.....well......ok, ok.....10 pounds! Yikes!!! Tubby Tina - here I come!!!! :D :D :D I don't get it!!! I eat healthy, I exercise....and I keep gaining!!! Oh wait - did I mention the large dessert I had at dinner Saturday night.....oh yeah.....and then there was that cupcake at the shower....hhhmmmm.....perhaps I know where this extra fat is coming from after all.  Sorry you didn't get an u/s - oh well, just a few more weeks until the BIG one!!! I can't wait for ours. In the mean time, let's just enjoy every minute of the not knowing!!! It is such fun guessing, don't you think??? The anticipation is killing me, though!! :?

Shari - Glad you are starting to feel better!! I still can't believe I have not felt bad this whole time. Oh well, these weird cramps and pulls are weird enough for me right now!!! Sometimes I stand up and then feel all this strange pulling and I have to stay doubled-over for a sec because the pain is so bad. Very strange. My doc says it is normal. Whatever! :) Reminds me of the good old days when I had too much to drink and got a hangover!

Seltzer - I also feel out of breath more. Sometimes when I am talking on the phone at work for a few minutes, I feel worn out from it - how pathetic, I think!!! Makes me wonder where I will be in a few months!! I hope you get to feeling better soon! Take my advice - eat a cupcake. Appears to be working too well for me.

Karen - Happy belated birthday! I am so sorry for what you are going through right now. Bless your heart. We go through so much to get pregnant and then you can't even celebrate yet like you should be able to!!! But don't worry - once you get your results from your amnio - we will have an August Bump Buddy celebration right here on-line!!! :) I just know it will all work out for you. These darn tests suck!! Don't let them get to you - it will all be ok!!! :) By the way, your husband sounds like quite a funny guy! :) Good luck on Friday!!

Rebecca - So, sounds like you are enjoying your exciting little boy news!!! It must be fun to have a boy when the rest of the family has girls. My brother has 3 boys, so secretly I think my mom is hoping we have a girl. Guess we will know in a couple more weeks!! :)

Ok ladies, I must go!! I am thinking of you all and wishing you the best!!

Hi Guys,
My work computer has completely shut down so I have some time to catch up on the boards. Might as well do something while my productivity goes down the drain
We have started to plan out the nursery room here at home. We're turning our guest room into the nursery, so to have somewhere for visiting grandparents to sleep we got my step daughter a bigger bed. It was about time. She's 13 & was still sleeping on the little bitty daybed that she got when stopped sleeping in a crib. Of course when we have visitors she'll have to sleep on the futon, but the rest of the time she'll be a lot more comfortable. Last weekend we went to BabysRUs to scout things out. It was a little overwhelming with all the choices so we did a little research and ended up ordering a book called Baby Bargains 7th edition from Amazon.com. I'll let you guys know if it's helpful.
It actually seems a little early to be doing all this stuff to me but DH likes to take a lot of time to make decisions. He researched the best type of coffee maker for 2 years before we replaced our broken one! I'm far more spontaneous so we balance each other out. He's already been researching daycares in our area and keeps bugging me to go tour some to pick out the best one.
I finally got the cold that's been going around. At night if I lay flat I can't breath through my nose at all. And I also get bad heartburn lying flat. I bought a pregnancy pillow thru Amazon too, so maybe it will help to keep me elevated at night.

The pictures on photobucket are great. MG & Nancy -you guys have really cute baby bumps and Tina -you and your husband make a really handsome couple. It looks like you guys have a great time together.
I hope everyone is well. Karen & Gori -I hope things are getting better for the both of you.
Take care,
Rebecca

Hello everyone!

TinaO: You look adorable in the Shower picture!! I don't see any of the largeness you keep talking about! I swear I think we just feel big because it is so different than what we are used to. I feel like I am already a cow, but everyone I talk to is like you are all belly.....I am like..really...I feel like I am belly, boobs and but!!! Anyway...you look great! Keep eating those cupcakes!!

Rebecca: Sounds like you had better get a jump on looking at baby things...especially if takes your dh that long to make a decision.

Karen: Sorry I forgot to mention this on my last post..Good luck on your Amnio! I know you are going to get GREAT results!! I don't know how you guys have been able to keep everything underwraps! I have such a blabber mouth!! I wanted to surprise my family at Christmas with our pregnancy, but couldn't hold it in!!! So, I decided we would gather everyone for dinner after our 20 week appt. so I can telly everyone at the same time and they can watch the DVD we will get...I scheduled my appointment on a friday with this in mind..that way I only have to wait 2 days! Surely I can make it that long!!!

AS for me..I had serious preg-nesia yesterday!!! I conduct seminars once a quarter for my stores....I thought my LR seminar was today, so I took a office day on Tues to prepare. I got a phone call from one of my buyers at around 9:30 asking me where I was....I was like what are you talking about? Anyway...had no shower, no make-up and hair pulled into bun with head band and glasses....not so professional or attractive for tha matter!!! I had to strip off my sweats, throw on a matte jersey dress(thank goodness for matte jersey) and run out the door...no time to gussy up! My belly was in knots for the rest of the day. I have had this job for 8 years now, and have never done anything like this before! I was soooo embarressed! All worked out in the end, but I can tell you one thing...my babies did not like momma being stresssed!!

I hope everyone has great week!

Marybeth

Tina - you so do not look fat, seriously. 10 pounds sounds right on track to me. At 18 weeks I'd gained 9 pounds and my OB said that will bring me to 25 or 30 by the end, which is perfect. So sounds like you are doing great. That said, I feel HUGE too. Like MBG said, all belly, boobs, and butt. Uck it is NOT a pleasant feeling! The boobs are the worst part. I hate to think what they will be like when they fill up w/milk. God help me. I am constantly hungry and actually wish I had one of those cupcakes you mentioned. I am starving!!

I think I might be feeling the baby move...not quite sure. For several days I've felt a "poke" type of feeling in the middle of my lower abdomen, but I can't tell if it's gas or intestinal rumblings...and I have plenty of that. A couple of times I really did think it was the baby though. We'll see...

Gotta sign off...feeling kind of pukey right now...
