Hi,
having just had my first scan at 8 weeks i am eager for another one. As a general rule have your clinics basically said to join the NHS route now which would mean another scan at 12 weeks, or does your clinic offer another private scan at 10-ish weeks?? I could pay to have another private scan with Nuchal and blood tests at around 11 weeks, or just wait and have that test done on the NHS .
I had my last scan done at my clinic at 8wks and then I was referred onto the NHS for further scans. The thing is the clinic said to me it was ok them scanning me but at the end of the day they wouldn't be able to pick up later on in the pregnancy if anything was wrong. I had quite a few scans to be honest because I had rough 18wks where I kept bleeding and thought something was happening to my baby.
I know what its like you count down the days to when you will next see your baby on the screen.
The 1st 12 weeks are slow but after that the time seems to wizz by.
I had scans every week for the first 12 weeks! I went for private treatment at an NHS hospital(Mayday). I was in hospital for most of that time though and had a threatened miscarriage at 7 weeks so they just kept on scanning me. I wasn't going to complain. I am a huge worry wort though and now waiting till Feb 19 for the next scan is killing me. I had an emergency scan on Monday after my bleed over the weekend at 16 weeks which was nice but if I were you as you are having twins wouldn't wait for 12 weeks. Are the scans expensive? Time does drag in the first trimester and waiting for scans does your head in but whatever you decide it will be ok. Good luck.
Hi Helen
I register with my doctor on Friday and then probably the midwife on the Tuesday and then hopefully a 12 week scan in a couple of weeks and its killing me to have to wait i keep thinking that somethings wrong one minute i feel pg the next i don,t. I didn,t know that you could pay to have a scan so if you really want to i would. You have two precious bundles i wouldn,t take the risk or even register with your midwife and they might scan you early.
