Good Luck tomorrow Vlada, let us know how you get on.

My doctor just called me and now I am even more worried - she wants me to go for a biophysical profile on Thursday and then every week until they're due. She also has scheduled me a NST every week starting Monday - if Baby B soesn't catch up within the next 2 weeks she will look to pull forward my C section to 35 weeks. Apparently the baby will do better outside the womb than inside if s/he doesn't start gaining weight. A little scared.

Rebecca,
I just had a biophysical profile because my doctor thought that my amniotic bag has ruptured. There is a scale of 1 to 8 on that profile and my baby has scored 8 out of 8 so i was not leaking and everyhting was OK. Don't be too scared, you are having twins so the doctor has to be on the safe side. Good luck on Thursday!!!

Vlada and Rebecca: I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you both and sending healthy vibes. I'm sure Vlada is correct -- the Dr. is simply taking extra precautions because you are having twins. Stay positive and calm. At this point, from what I understand, your babies have an EXCELLENT chance of doing just fine even if delivered now. Again, I'm sure the DR is simply playing it safe.

Keep us posted.

Vlada: let us know how your 3d goes tomorrow.

By the way, false alarm on the GD. The 5 hr. test (which was only supposed to be a 3 hr test -- LOL) confirmed that all is OK and I do NOT have GD. YEAH, I ate chocolate today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow..so much going on...Croella, hope you feel better and your 2 moms are spoiling you rotten

BabyB, so happy the GD test went your way! phew...you deserve a break...

rebecca, pls try not to worry (easier said than done)...your OB is on top of things...
from now on, starting tomorrow, I get an NST and U/S every week...my OB was psssd that at my 32 week appt they did not do a geophysical profile, so possibly he'll do one tomorrow...dunno...

indeed, OBs take no chances with twins...
Vlada, good luck as well tomorrow...

Ladies, please wish me well...I have been doing quite well, staying home on modified bedrest (I sleep a lot)...and my BP has remained borderline, which is really good ... but I worry about my appt tomorrow, as if my OB gets 2 readings of 140/90, he'll stick me in the hospital...

That hasn't happened yet...and I think it's INSANE, as I don't have pitting edema, or protein in my urine, or eye problems or headaches...NO signes of preeclampsia...
But, alas, he is being cautious.
horrors....why isn't my baby room finished?
I have NO crib 'bedding' or curtains or rug.
but oh well...I HAVE DIAPERS
AND a nanny or two...yeah!
g'luck

Rebecca and Vlada, no worries your babies are fine the doctors are just being extra careful. Rebecca, my friend had her twins at 32 weeks suddenly and they weighed almost exactly what yours weigh right now. They had no problems just had to reach a weight of 5lbs before they could go home. The girl I work with had her twins at 30 weeks both only weighed 2 1/2 lbs but they were not getting enough nutrition in the womb they believe the placenta was tearing away, but once again everything turned out just fine, they now weigh 10 lbs each! I started NST's last week and also must have them every week until I deliver not because anything is wrong but because they don't want anything to go wrong. I have seen a peri twice and these were their recommendations due to IVF and the lose of my other twin my Dr. concurred. Try to relax and take comfort in the fact that your Dr's are just being extra careful better to be pro active in our situations.

Babyb so happy about the GD test!

As for me, I'm going on 2 weeks with this god forsaken cold I have come to the conclusion that I will be sick forever. I am getting bigger by the day and am staring to panic about having a 10lb baby, 1 Mo ago she was in the 110% at 3lb11oz and suppose to gain a 1/2 pound a week I figure she is up to about 5lb11oz if I go full term that puts her arounf 9lb11oz and my Dr. has not even suggested starting me. I will keep my fingures crossed that she has slowed down a bit.

Anyway well wishes to everyone stay positive and healthy!

Hey Ladies...

WOW - a lot of action here since my last looksie... I have been really tired since I cannot sleep because of this darn pain for which the OB will give me NOTHING (oh, btw - she was on good behavior today...)...

Anyway, good news... since I have been on bedrest the swelling has gone down a lot but unfortunately the urq pain is still there ranging from a 5 to a 10 at any given time and I cannot sleep except for 1 1/2 to 2 hours at a time so I am tired ALL DAY and yesterday I slept almost the whole day away (except for forcing myself to get up, take a shower and go to the grocery store late afternoon)... So don't worry about me since my BP is fine, no protein and I lost 5 lbs of water weight (I can't really eat though due to the reflux AND very little appetite anyway). I also had a great NST today - only 3 contractions in 45 min. I am dialated 2cm but I was dialated 3cm with my son for 3 weeks...

WC- crazy how all of our doctors are different... I know my OB would have you on strict bed rest if your pressure was a little high but in the HOSPITAL!?? ewww... I will pray your BP stays down...

Girls... don't worry about your babies sizes... if the OBs thought there was a severe something wrong they would have you hospitalized with a birth date... just keep your appts and do what your doc says... I am praying for all of us throughout this homestretch... I does look like CroElla will be first given how far along she is BUT you just never know with twins...

I asked my OB to schedule me for induction at exactly 37w because of this pain and she said "we'll see" - WE'LL SEE!?!?!? WHY!??!?! why not just do it!!?!?? She's taking me off the terbutaline for the the contractions at 36w so maybe she thinks I'll go on my own before that. I do hope so since this pain is just awful...

OK- gotta go as I am starting to feel real pain right now...

Hello ladies,
Well, I had my US today and yes, my baby is on the small side, olny 13 precentile. She is 3pounds 15 ounces right now, and it is quite small for a sigleton. So, now, I will have to come back in a week for NST and in two weeks for another US and NST. If she doesn't catch up I will probably have my c section early. Her head and limbs are fine but her belly is too small. Everythign else is fine ( HB, brain, placenta, etc.). I am kinda disappointed but at the same I am glad that I got to see her again, she looks very much like my Mom.
I hope that everyone is doing good.

Vlada your baby will ketch up soon, once you mentioned that you are quite small yourself :D Don't worry:)

I had my doctor's app today and still have cervix 60% thinned down (it is good because it didn't change) and my baby is quite big - 7 pounds...Doctor says that she'll be at least 8 pound baby. Also he told me if I go in labor a week from now he is not worried! So, I might be the first one to go:)

Thinking of you all,

Ah Croella,
It is soooo exciting!!! You will seee your baby soon!!!!
I really hope that mine will catch up. I am small boned, but I am 5'10 and my regular weight is 125 to 130, so I thought since I am tall my baby will be bigger, plus my husband was almost 10 pound baby.
I guess you never know. :?

My god, Vlada, were you a runway model? 5'10" and 125 is so cool...good for you, and no wonder your baby is petite! she takes after mom...good luck!

Croella..wow. wow. wow. I'd be freakin'...almost there! have fun, you are so lucky to have 2 moms there to help you out, that is, 2 that you LOVE ... I am just hoping to keep meddling MIL out of the picture till I'm ready for her to come. She'll have to stay in a hotel, however, since the night nanny has my guest room!

Cocoa....maybe that's all you needed? Rest? I am sooo happy to hear the swelling is going down, and so sorry the URQ pain is still there...thinking of you...get lots of sleep...

I went to my OB and everything looks great...these babies will stay in for 37-38 weeks, but my BP is still 'borderline" so we just take it day by day...I feel great to be almost 34 weeks....if I have the babies at 36 due to BP issues, so be it...they are doing well.

You're right...I put myself on house arrest..what's pissing me off is that some so-called friends (where the h*ll have they been during my pregnancy?) now want to come over to 'see me' ...uh, hello. I am about to give birth, sleep all day, and hey, it's a little late in the game...
Plus, visitors wipe me out...and I need my rest. I don't know why it pisses me off so much, but it does...these are people who are 'friends' ... one, I co-hosted a HUGE shower for, the other? I planned her wedding with her. Geesh. they've disappeared during my pregnancy only to come around now.

TOO LATE.

Poor little boy, who hangs out near my private region? The girl is always 'on top' and swimming around, and she gets more loving/attention...SO today at the U/S it turns out little boy has crawled/swum up and is right under my right breast...I truly think that he needed some TLC as well, and heard all of the 'talking' that little girl got..so sweet!

OK, gotta go. tired again.

Hello ladies...

Overall, it is great to see everyone doing fairly well given all our circumstances

I wanted to post in response to Rebecca's post re: difference in growth. When I went to my 27 week U/S (two weeks ago) I was told that A was 2lbs 8 oz, and B was only 1lb 11 oz. (At 24 weeks B was 1lb 2oz, and A was 1lb 9 oz) I was very scared, as he mentioned that I may have to give birth early, therefore I had to have two steroid shots to help mature the lungs. (Ouch! Burned more than prog shot!) Needless to say the babies themselves are doing very well, and both scored an 8 on the Biophysical profiles. If we were not comparing babies, then each on their own would be fine. B is at the 67% percentile (yes...already with the 'percentiles' ) A is in the 25th percentile. The difference between the two is a little over 33% I went for an NST & BP (Biophysical profile) last week and that went well...again both babies scoring an 8.

So now, I will go Thursday for my next growth scan. (They wont do a growth scan without two weeks in between, since you cannot get an accurate account) Then weekly I am getting a Biophysical, and a reg Dr. appt. (The growth scan, and the doc that gave me the steroid shot was with the Maternal Fetal Doc) NST's bi weekly for now.

All in all, I am not sure what happens next...I guess I find out Thursday? (Although I can tell you that my OB was suprised that without more information they gave me the steroid shots..she didn't seem to think that I would give birth within a couple of weeks, and that the MFM Docs would have to give her more evidence to start believing that...she is pretty laid back though) One thing I do know for sure...STAY AWAY FROM INTERNET INFORMATION!! It can be very scarey reading things..not necessarily message boards, but do keep in mind that you (we) are reading stories of single woman, out of the MILLIONS that have some sort of growth discordance between their twins. Although I must admit, I was suprised and VERY happy to see that no one, other than what Rebecca just brought up, had experienced this here.

I will keep you posted...you are in a much better position than I being weeks ahead....by about 31 weeks, the lungs are producing surfactant on their own, therefore you won't need the shots, and they should be able to breathe on their own if they were born now. Good Luck..I hope everything works out for you.

Sorry for the long post....just thought I would share.....

Kelley, good luck! Sounds like good news so far, though...and you're almost 'there' in the '30s' ... getting good prenatal care...but I agree with your OB, they prob. should've consulted her...the shots are not to be taken lightly, they are serious shots! I asked my OB about them and he said they only give them if they're certain you're going to deliver ASAP, are stuck in the hospital waiting for an ER c-section etc...don't let them give you any more shots unless they give you more information..

Totally agree with the 'crap' on the Net...sometimes I read horror stories and my hubby get so pssssed at me...in reality, there are many many MANY ignorant women who don't go to their OBs when they should, don't take care of themselves, and then they end up delivering way too early or something goes wrong which they could've avoided all along...not worth reading about.

best to all
so tired.
so, so tired.

Hello ladies,
Woodcliff, thanx for the compliment :D , a lot of people asked me if I used to model, but i never did, at some point i wanted to, but never had enough courage to go to any agency.
Well, now my OB wants me in her office every week for US and i will have to do NST every week as well, and 3D US every 2 weeks. Now, I am starting to get a little bit of paranoya. Also, I have not felt my baby today that much at all.
Ah, I have a feeling that i might deliver early...
Kelly, I hope that your baby will catch up, it is no fun to worry about early delivery.

Hello everyone!

Nice to hear everyone is doing ok. Well, apart from the various aches and pains (myself included). I'm just ticking along and waiting for the next scan which is THREE WEEKS away. It feels like an age.

We don't seem to get monitored here in the UK as much as all you guys in the US.

Regarding the various conversations about sizes... I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, and reading things on the internet can be a nightmare for making you worry.

Vlada far along are you now, you still don't have a ticker!?!?!?!?

Anyone looked into baby monitors? I was looking today and came across a couple of monitor breathing by using an under mattress sensor (Babysense II and Tommee Tippee Suresound). I've been reading reviews and they are mixed. Some rave about it and others say you can get false alarms if baby wriggles up the mattress. I'm still in 2 minds about whether to get one (well, two!!). I'm worried that having too many gadgets like this could make me paranoid as I'd be constantly checking the flashing lights.

So I may just get a regular audio one... decisions decisions.

Love,
Hayley xx
