IUI's

Post by Babysoft »

Hello Everyone,

It's been so long since I've been on this thread. I tok a year off of ttc, it's been a long, but good year.

I'm having a iui done tomorrow and just wanted to know if there are any more iui cyclers out there wanted to share their experience.

Best Wishes

IUI

Post by Babysoft »

Hello Keri,

I too feel like I'm at Great Adventures Infertility Amusement park. I've been ttc for 7 yrs now and I've had the wrost experience with clinics! I finally feel a lot better about this entire experience! I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I took a year off...lol when I say I took a year off, I mean I wasn't doing any cycling, but I was still hoping for a nbfp. Anyway prior to this last year most of the expenses were out-of-pocket cash expenses and it was that much more devestating when nothing ever worked! Now I've actually moved to a state that has mandatory infertility coverage which means I get all my meds and iui's for absolutely nothing. I'm not sure if I'll ever get over the excitement from that...lol!

Well on to an update...I had my iui yesterday and now I'm on the dreaded 2ww. I am of course hoping this will be it! I start taking my prog sup on Saturday and I go to the clinic for us and bw on Wednesday.

Enough about me....I hope all is well with you!

Yes, Denise I understand exactly what you mean. I'd rather be on the roller coaster then waiting outside the gate for entrance.

I see you have twin...are they from an iui or ivf?

Thanks for the PMA loopie...oddly enough I'm happy I'm on the 2ww...only because I've been out of the loop so long!! I wish they had a new test that would tell me if I was preggors like 10 secs after iui...lmfao....maybe I dont like the 2ww

Hi Babysoft
Yep well all you can do is sit back and wait!! I have my fingers crossed for you. How many goes have you had at iui's? I have to pay for just over half of the treatment but have to come up with the whole amount at the start. They rebate you back some of it. We have spent thousands over the past year for both myself and dh's doctors on this whole thing. I have had a five month break this time (let my credit card have a rest!!)

Sorry forgot to say that under the insemination forum they have girls there that are doing iui cycles. They are great girls and very supportive. Just in case you want to have a look.

Well this is only my 2nd try at iui, but I've had 2 cancelled ivf cycles. I've had to switch clinics several times. I went to one clinic had all this work done (the work-up)...honestly I felt like I was trying to join a soriority...after all the hoops they told me they wouldn't help me because I have high fsh. I was very devestated especially since all of my expenses were out of pocket. But now I'm in a state that I get all of my treatment paid for 100$%...I had to switch jobs and move, but honestly it's worth it. The only problem I'm having now is the fact that I still don't produce a lot of follies...this past iui I only produced one mature follie.....but my fsh was 9.1 so its much better of than the 33 it was before. I feel for you having to pay for everything out of pocket..I know how that feels.

I'm on day 3 of my 2ww....although I took a year off I feel like I'm right back where I was before. Having relations with my hubby just to get preggors...I promised myself I wouldn't do that again, but it's kind of hard not to....I must say he is the best about this now. Prior to this time I felt like I couldn't really talk to him about it. He comes froma huge family...I mean his sister-in-law gets pregnant everytime his brother looks at her...speaking of that she is preggors with her 4th child now. It's crazy how some get pregnant with no effort and I haven't gotten pregnant in all these years...hopefully this will be it!! Does anyone have to take the proges sups after the iui..I have to start them tomorrow twice a day. The only odd thing to me...on Wednesday I have to have an u/s and bloodwork done...they are testing my proges, but won't that be effected by the supps?

Well enough babbling...good luck all...I will visit the other thread!!

Yea you would think that it would effect the results. I starting taking them after my first lot of blood work. What is the ultra sound looking for? My clinic doesn't test for 17 days after the iui. They feel that the proges effect the results if done to early. It is a long time to wait!!

I know what you mean about your dh. We don't talk about it too much now (all talk out!!) We have had so many let downs along the way that I think dh just trys not to think about it anymore. He is still supportive but knows that iui's have such a low success rate and we are not sure how many we can afford.

My twins are IUI miracles! It was our fourth cycle that finally worked. First cycle, we had a m/c, second neg, third cancelled due to early ov, then on the fourth round they increased the meds, and low and behold ~ my girls. We'd like one more baby, but understand if this doesn't work we are already richly blessed. Good luck everyone. We're a month away from starting, not this cycle, but the next.

Hi Denise
Its great to hear that iui's do work! Thats great that you got twins :D :D although I bet they keep you on your toes!!! Many ladies that I have talked to here have mostly have bfn from iui's, I was starting to wonder if it worked at all. My clinic will only let me produce two mature eggs each time as I have no fertility issues (male factor). They feel the chance of triplets would be to high if I produced more.
