what meds are you taking after bfp from ivf??

Hi and congrats to all the new mommies in here!!
We did IVF in Feb and got my BFP on Feb 25th (Yay!!). We did our 6 week US the other day and found out we have twins (double yay!!!)
My question is...what kinds of meds do your docs have you taking after IVF? I am taking Progesterone 100mg injection, Estrace (Estradiol) tablets 8mg (which is 4 tablets), and Vivelle dots 3 at a time.
I just feel like this is a lot and everything I read says that Estrogen is not safe to take in pregnancy and can cause birth defects. I just wanted to make sure that this seemed to be normal because not only am I taking estrogen, I'm taking massive doses of it!
Any input would be appreciated.

Hi, congratulations on your pregnancy! I was on progesterone vaginal suppositories... initially 3 a day for a few weeks, then reduced to 2 a day & finally one a day. I stopped that around 8 weeks of pregnancy. Other than only pre-natal vitamins, nothing else. Is there a reason your Dr. suggested so many meds. Again, every Dr. is different.

Nickster, I only took the progesterone and I took it for about 11-13 weeks, I know that all doctors protocals are different but if you are uncomfortable with what they have you taking you should let thenm know your concernsa and see what they have to say.

I am doing Crinone 8% twice a day and aspirin, pre natals and two estrogen patches. I stop patches and crinone on week 10 which is Saturday!!!!

Congratulations on your BFP!

This is what I've been taking:
Aspirin 85mg 1x/day
Metformin 500mg 3x/day
Stuart Natal Plus tablets 1x/day
Progesterone 2cc 1x/day

I just finished the second vial of Estradiol Valerate .4cc 1x/week. One less shot to worry about.

I'll be on the Progesterone 2cc 1x/day until week 23. Dr. said it would be safer to keep me on so long then I'll be having those injections 1x/week from then on.

Every doctor is different as well as each case.

hey nickster CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP with twins!!!

I am 9wks today and am still on 1 crinone 8% , and 1cc Prog in oil -
also prenatal vites and an occasional 81mg aspirin

everyone is different, the REs are just going with what they know about us - my pre-ivf testing showed that i had a sort of low prog level, and once we had our BFP, they tested again to be sure i was getting enough, and want to keep me on it until 10-12 wks
