Cycle buddies in March/April anyone?

Post by angram »

Rlk1 - All of my IUI meds (repronex & HCG)) were given via IM injections and they're not too bad. I leaned over the bathroom counter and my DH gave me the shot. It definitely makes your rear/hip a little sore, but that's about it. Good luck tonight and Tuesday morning!!

Great to hear good news!

Neffi-what wonderful news! I knew your little embies would do well. Good luck with the ET, I will be thinking about you!

rlk1-My DH had to give me progesterone IM shots during the 2ww of IVF#1. My advice is to ice the area and lie down on your side (this way you are more relaxed). My DH had never given an injection. I must say he became an expert! Don't worry, it's not too bad. Congrats!! I'll be thinking about you!

angram-Thanks for the understanding about my nurse. She is going to be missed by many. I too hope they find someone who is just as caring. Good luck with your next b/w and u/s!

IrishHope-How are you doing? When did you say you start your next IVF cycle?

Keep up the PMA ladies. So glad to hear such good news!

Ang and Jenny-- thanks for the encouragement. I hope my embies continue to divide!

Rlk1--Less than 4 hours til your trigger! I had a IM shot of Versed for my transfer...it was easy! It burned a little. Does DH do your shots? I have done my own, but I guess if I was doing them in my butt I would need some help. Is that where you are suppose to do it? I would ice it...Ive heard a lot of girls say they did that. You will do fine! Cant wait to hear how your ER goes!!!!!

To everyone else...whats going on? I know a bunch of you are just waiting.....I hate the waiting! DId anyone do anything fun this weekend? I am spoiled this week, I will work Monday, have ET tuesday, bedrest wed, work thursday, then Im off for Good Friday. :D Dh and I went out and bought new furniture for our family room and we are also getting new carpet. I want to do some of the things I know I wont have the money for once the baby/babies come. Also I had to got new carpet....I could never let a baby crawl on the stuff we have now...its so gross! It was here when we moved in....it has to go! I really want hardwood, but I figure the baby will be better on carpet...Im going to do hardwood in the rest of the downstairs when I save some more money. Later

Nothing much new here for me. I can't believe I test next Sunday. After we got started, this whole process seems to have gone so quickly. I did have a hormone rage last night. We were at Target (and I usually LOVE Target), but the checker was slower than molasses, and I thought I was going to rip his head off. Then I wanted to run over everyone on the road going home. Those hormones are vicious!

angram - I hate needles too. DH has also done all of my injections. I've tried, but I just can't seem to stick myself. DH has been so calm and steady about everything. It's been a pleasant surprise!

Neffi - Congratulations on your 8 splitting embies. That's wonderful! New furniture is always great fun! :D

rlk1 - Good luck with that trigger tonight and E/R on Monday. I can't wait to hear how many eggs they retrieved! For all of our PIO shots, which are IM....and I read this somewhere here on message board.....and it's worked perfectly. Ice the area for 20 minutes, stand on the leg that you are NOT getting the shot (so there is no weight on the "shot" leg/hip/buttocks). Afterwards for the PIO shot, massage the direct area for 2-5 minutes, then keep a warm heating pad in the area for 15-20 minutes. It's worked like a charm, and I've had no pain at all.

Everyone enjoy the weekend.

Hi all!!

YAYY--the HCG shot is over!!! Thanks so much for all of your advice. I'm an idiot and didn't read the posts before we did the IM shot. Actually, my DH did a great job. I'm so impressed that he was so calm and collected. But....my tush is so sore!!! Everytime I rolled onto it in the middle of the night--it woke me up because it's so tender!! Oh well, what can you do! I will definitely do your tips for the PIO shots!!

Angram: Good luck tomorrow at your u/s!! I'm so excited to hear how your follicles are doing!!

Suzhan: Glad to hear that you're feeling good! Your first scan is coming up so soon--one more week! How exciting! Keep us posted!!

DrJen: Your mom sounds like she's such a trooper. When do they expect that she might start to feel some relief--after the 2nd or 3rd treatment? As far as your nurse drama, I can totally relate!! The same thing happened to me during my last cycle. My primary nurse, that I had been with for almost a year, told me she was leaving. I was so sad, but actually my new nurse has been great! Let us know how things are going with your new nurse.

J&C: One more week until your Beta test---unbelievable!! It seems like it's coming up so quickly--although for you I'm sure it's lasting an eternity!!

Neffi: Great news on your embryos!! YAYY!!! How many are you planning on transferring? Keep us posted--I'm so glad things worked out well for this cycle!! To answer your questions, I've done all of my sub-Q shots so this was the first one that DH had to do! As far as my follicles, they measured 9 that were from 17-20mm. She also said that I have 11 more on each ovary that are above 10mm. It'll be interesting to see/hear how many they collect! I don't know if we're doing a D3 or a D5 transfer--I guess it'll all depend on how well things go. I guess I'd prefer a D5, but I'll take what I can get!! Wow, new carpet and and new furniture--I bet it'll look great when you're done. How fun!!

So...I do have one thing to confess to you girls. At my b/w and u/s yesterday, I thought I was going to throw-up all over the place. I was so nauseous!! The truth is, I think it was just anxiety. Although, my E2 came back at 2577 (they had me inject only 5,000 units of HCG last night to try to prevent hyperstimulation). Maybe it's a combonation of nerves and ranging hormones? I felt so disappointed in myself that I couldn't just "pull it togerther." Know what I mean? I think this whole relinquishing control thing has taken a number on me. Anyway, if I was wreck for a simple U/S and B/W...imagine how I'll be tomorrow?!?

I cannot believe several of you do your own shots, I'm such a baby. My DH has done all previous shots, since they were in my rear, but then I tried to give myself the lupron in the belly and I just stared at my belly for 20 minutes trying to convince myself it was no big deal. Needless to say, I ended up getting my DH to do it and just figure that's the way it's going to be

rlk1 - 36 hours may be just what your 11 other follies need to get their boost, so good luck tomorrow. You absolutely should NOT be dissapointed in yourself!! We have to endure so much in order to get what others "accidentally" achieve, so you take this time to be proud of yourself and everything you're putting yourself through mentally and physically. You'll do great tomorrow, and if you cry the entire way there, it's your right :)

Rlk1-- Im so glad that your trigger went well. That stinks that you are sore. I do progesterone suppositories, so I dont have any IM shots...I guess Im lucky, but the suppositories are messy! Anyway, I havent heard anything from RE today....If they dont call by 12 I dont think they will. I hope they do though. 9 follies measuring that big is great!!!! And hopefully some of the others have grown by tomorrow! I wouldnt feel bad about your anxiety at all! The amount of stress we put on our bodies during this treatment is insane! I think its almost better to let it out! I always feel better after I cry! But Im serious about the ER...I was very nervous! After it was over, I was amazed....it is not bad. Have you ever had IV sedation before? I was most scared of the IV...but it was so easy....it wasnt any worse than the usual bw! ANyway, relax, enjoy your shot free day! I cant wait to hear from you tomorrow.

Ang-- I dont think you are a baby at all! I had every intension of having DH do my shots, but then I thought I should at least do one just in case he wasnt there one day for some reason. I did the first one....it was so easy that I just kept doing it. The first one though, I stood there and looked at my belly, and its weird, you just want to do it, but you cant! It took me like 10 minutes to actually do it.

Hey girls - I'm trying to keep with the PMA today, but it isn't going so well. DH has had a great attitude today, so I'm trying to lean on him. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Neffi - Yep - this second week is gonna kill me. I'm actually really glad to be back to work all this week to hopefully (yeah right) take my mind off of it. I'm actually thinking about POAS next weekend, but I really don't think it's a great idea either. I'm actually on the suppositories and the POI shot....so both messy and needle anxiety still. Yuck!!

rlk - There is nothing wrong with being anxious/nervous/nauseous/teary/etc. I'm usually VERY anxious at most appointment, and I've teared up a few times. I was super nervous for the E/R, but it was really, really easy - seriously! You'll do GREAT!! :D

angram - I'm right with you, though you did so much better than I did. On my first day of shots, I sat in the bathroom for 45 minutes trying to give myself the shot. LOL. I tried several other times to give myself the shots, but I just couldn't do it. DH has been great every night since.

J&C-- Yeah I hate the second week. If you're test is on Sunday, you should be okay to POAS. How many days post transfer does your clinic test? Good luck this week, hopefully work will take your mind off it! Im hoping that Easter weekend will speed up my 2ww!!!

Rlk1-- Yeah your like 12 hours away...maybe 13! Good luck! I'll be thinking off you all day tomorrow!

As for me, I didnt hear from the RE today, I wish I thought that means that my embies are doing well, but I thought that last cycle and it wasnt true. I am very nervous for the call tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. I still really feel that this is my time! :D :D :D :D :D

Neffi - Let us know how the call goes from your RE. I don't think their offices understand sometime how much we wait for their every call. I'm praying for your embies!! :D

My RE's office tests 12dpt. I've seen some others on this board test at day 10, so I'm thinking about POAS next Saturday which would be day 11.
