To answer about where I am in the IVF journey...

We just finished our first IVF ICSI after finding severe motility problem in DH. Hcg was at 16 on 3/12 and dropped to 6 on 3/14--biochemical pregnancy. We have 3 frozen embryos--1 Grade A day 5, 2 Grade B day 6. We will be doing FET in May or June, depending on when AF starts. Thanks for all of your prayers and support. I will continue to pray for each of you as well.

Wishing everyone w/ upcoming FETs good luck. I will be praying for you all. Also praying for all those waiting to find out about a BFP. It's a difficult time.

As for me, I did do some research on a clinic ("Cornell") that seems to be recommended. I must admit that I have been extremely lucky up to this point b/c I had all 6 of my IVF cycles covered by insurance pretty much 100%. I went into shock to see how much it really costs, and I don't understand why it's not mandated to cover in all states. Also, dont' know how people are able to do it financially. Needless to say, once I got over my shock, I am pretty much sure that this part of it is over for me. I did go into my acupuntrist and got a treatment and will continue that for once a week for a couple of months. he did give me some herbs, which I thought I might have to brew, etc., but they are in pill form. Almost looks like something you could get in a health store, but they are "herbs." I must admit that I am a little skeptical about the whole thing, but since this is my only option at this point, I guess I will give it a try. If I don't, I will always wonder if it could have worked.

I can't wait until it finally gets warmer out (still get down in the 20's at night around here), but late April early May, I will start planting my veggies. last year was the first year, and I must admit I generally liked doing it. And the tomatoes, particularly, tasted great.

I will be on before Easter (can't believe it's just a few days away. how time flies.)

Leigh: Sorry to hear about your chem pg. I hope those three snow babies are the answer!

Sonu: Glad to see you on here more :) And Praise God that His ways are not our ways! He does have better planns for us then wheat we can imagine! Praying those three embies make through thte freeze and into your womb!! Please God!

Nic: Wow lots of FETs coming around! Dont apologize for just writing about you! We all have those days! So happy you are going through with the foster classes. Loving foster care homes are soooo needed!! I pray God fills your desires with a baby soon!

hrobinson: Enjoy that Spring break!! Anything special planned??? Do call the doc and let us know about the mass - glad you arent worried. Have fun with your family this weekend. I still have no idea what I am doing - my family is going in all different directions.

Girls I read on another board that Chriss got a bfn today. I am sure she will post here later (I hope you dont mind that I ma breaking the news Chriss) Just wanted to let yall know so we can all lift her up in prayer. Father you know the desires of Chriss's heart - and the pain she is feeling. I pray that you would be her mighty comforter during this time and give Chriss the wisdom to know what the next step is. Please use this time to grow Chriss stronger in you. I pray that her faith would not be shaken, and that you would place encouragers in her life that will remind her of your love. Amen. We are all here for you Chriss.

Hi Mia, thanks for the prayer. I was just reading through the messages and getting ready to post on this one when I saw your note. No, I don't mind at all that you shared my news. Thanks for thinking of me. I knew from the start that persistence would have to be the key for me, so Dh and I will keep moving forward. Talked with principal about getting some time off and she was wonderful about it. So ... moving forward. Sorry this is all for my post today, but I know that you all understand. Thanks again for the kindness & support. It's so comforting to have you as my friends.
Tlak to you soon. -chriss

So sorry Chriss! I'm glad that your principal is letting you have some time off so you can begin again soon....much better than waiting for summer, moving forward and keeping spirits high. Sorry again though....I don't know what I'll do if I get a BFN :( since it's our only cycle.

Mia: Glad to see you out and about :)

KBat: that is awesome about your insurance covering so many. We have pretty much CRAPPY insurance. They barely cover maternity....so IVF is a definite NO! I really really thought that our RX program covered the meds, but we found out that they didn't afterall :( So that's a downer.

Leigh: That time will be here before you know it! Can you believe it's already approaching April!!! Congrats on having your little frozen Embies :)

Sonu: Okay, spill about the US LOL My RE's office just called and said that I needed to have an US done on day 3-4 and I'm thinking GROSS! She said it might be uncomfortable for me but they are used to it and it won't effect a thing.....still day 3 is the worst day for my cramps so I'm pretty sure I will not enjoy that one BIT! LOL

Nic: That's great about your FET approaching...YAY. And 3....WOW! Maybe you and Kildean will be having twins together LOL My RE will transfer 3 on day 3 or 2 on day 5....and 2 if it were a FET. I'm sure things change up a bit after a cycle or two but that is what she said they would do initially. Congrats on being almost through with your foster classes too....we were lucky in that our agency hired a company to give us our classes over a long weekend! So we went for Friday/Saturday and Sunday and were done.

HRobinson: Did you call the doctor? Glad you're enjoying Spring Break....we don't take one :) But our last day is April 25th so we'll make up for it with an extra month of summer LOL I totally know where you are coming from with the 'impatient' statement. My RE office just called and gave me the list of 'things' that had to be completed before the April AF and UGGHHhhhh! I feel like throwing in the towel.

Hope: how are you feeling? Did any make it to freeze stage? My husband and I both agreed that we'd donate our FE's if it gets to that stage and we have a BFP with the fresh cycle. Don't know how I'd feel if I didn't already have children though...probably a WHOLE lot different.

By the way, where is ApDean and Kildean? Helllloooo??? They've got to be here somewhere LOL

Well, small update on me. My RE's office called and said that the records from my previous donation cycle (eggs) was only a anesthesia report...so not really helpful LOL She said that all my other test came back fine, except of course that Iron level, again no surprise. Then she gave me the list. She said #1 was to call her when I started AF again and they'd get me in there between days 2-4 for my Estradiol, FSH and a Vag. Ultrasound to do a follical count...etc. Then #2 between days 6-11 I have to have the Saline Ultrasound and a trial transfer to fit catheter size...etc. After all that #3 is to have SA and blood test for husband, which can be done on one of my trips. Then #4 is to visit the psychologist for an evaluation, husband has to go too and I think she said it's either 200-400 for both of us or 200-400 for each? Not included in the study cost, GREAT....so another 400-800 not accounted for. Then here is the kicker...she said that I could wait to have the psychological done after all my other test come back and I qualify for the study, that way if I don't qualify after all of this I wouldn't have wasted the money on the psychologist! Ugghhhh, so why am I on Iron? And why am I logging all my meds...etc LOL This could have waited till I was 'accepted' LOL

Oh well, as I said I'm just about ready to throw in the towel. The local clinic charges 13900 for a fresh and 1 frozen cycle, plus meds....all inclusive.....plus it's 20 minutes from home instead of 3 hours (the drive is supposed to be a little less than 2 hours but big city traffic made it 3!!!). I'm just tired I suppose...but do you ever get the feeling that God isn't strengthening you at all but blocking your path? I want this so bad, and funny enough my husband is now embracing it. He even called me from work the other day and said "for a girl...how about the name..." Isn't that sweet? He actually named our oldest dd, so it was sweet that he was thinking about it.

Anyhow....I guess I'm just tired and really PMS'ing too, which is actually GREAT maybe this month I'll not get past 25 days :) and can get the FSH...etc done.

Well, off to bed.....watched Scrubs and we actually finished Standardized Testing today so I'm POOPED!!

Sorry ladies and IndieBlue that I have been missing in action. I went to my appt. on Monday for my second U/S. Babies are doing very well. They both measured two days ahead of schedule. So the doc moved my due date up two days. I graduated to the OB doc. My first appt. is April 15th. I just thank the Lord because he has definetly been so good to me. My sister Apdean needs your prayers. She is in a lot of pain from retrieval and she is scheduled for her 5 day transfer tomorrow. We know and believe that the Lord is going to work it out.

I hope everyone else is doing well. I am praying for you all!

Okay, only on this board would this prayer not be deemed as STRANGE or Psycho :) But will you all please pray that I start AF soon. The RE's office called yesterday and said that we need to schedule our nursing consult either T/Th of next week or T/Th of the following week.....since the trip is 3 hours (one way) and I have to go soon for my 3 day FSH/Ultrasound and my husbands SA I would LOVE to make it during one trip. Since I can't tell the future I'm stuck trying to make a decision today so I can call her back on Monday and let her know what day we'd be able to attend for the consult (how to give shots, overview of the whole IVF process...etc).

I am crampy and my bbs are sore...all the typical signs of AF coming on, but last month I was like this and it went on for 2 weeks before I finally started. So while it seems very trivial....I'd love to be able to coordinate 1 trip this month for soooo many reasons, as I'm sure you all can relate :)

Thanks!

Just a quicky - I PROMISE I'll catch up and update the prayer list this weekend. I have to go to work now, but I've been reading. ;)

Chriss - Praying for peace and comfort for you, sweetie. Thinking of you.

Apdean - How are you feeling, dear? Hope the pain has lifted from the ER. How many embies do you have?? When is ET?

Indie - Drink some ginger tea. I waited SO long after my D&C for AF to come, I've read that ginger tea helps motivate her. Warning, tho, it makes you WARM! I drank it (but I had acupuncture too) and got AF in less than 24 hours. Just a thought. ;)

Okay...it makes you 'WARM'???? What's up with that LOL I accidentally got sunburned today at the park with the kids so I'm already warm enough LOL Oh and is it considered an herb? Or is it just tea? I can't take anything herbal while I'm in this study....which the only things I take herbal were Black Horsechestnut for hemi's and I used TeaTree toothpaste...oh and Wild Yam for PMS. So I've laid off of those. Anyhow, I'll have to check in to that and see if it's 'herbal'. Thanks :)

It's tea - but it may be considered "herbal tea" - I dunno. I'd check, but my box of tea is in my desk at work. :( I got it at the regular grocery, tho - in the tea section. It was Ginger Peach - I know Republic of Teas has it.

And by WARM, I mean, it's like drinking hot cocoa (or tea) - but with an additional "boost" of warmth. It wouldn't be a good summertime drink! (but then, I rarely drink hot tea in the summer anyway!). Image

http://www.sisterzeus.com/delayedmen.htm Check out this website - it talks about all kinds of herbs that you can use to stimulate AF. But, the herbs are things like ginger, parsley, rosemary, sage.... things you'd use normally in cooking - do you have to stay away from those types of herbs too?? I can understand TCM herbs (Traditional Chinese medicine).

Are you serious that you had to seriously stop using your toothpaste because of this study?! Wow. if that's the case, you might want to steer clear of the teas also.

Did you make the plans on the date yet? Or do you have a little more time to see when AF comes?

Also, about the Bible study available online - if you order it from there, is that all you need, or do you need to order the book still? I wasn't clear from reading it, tho, I admit, I did scan it pretty quickly. I can go back, but I thought I'd ask.

Well, I stopped the toothpaste on my own because it has a LOT of Tea Tree in it and I used it 2-3 times a day....I figured I could use Crest for a while like everyone else. And the hemi's haven't bothered me since I found Crocs LOL, even taking all this iron isn't phasing me :) I eat about 10-20 prunes a day though, and a Kashi bar with flaxseed so

I checked the store tonight and didn't see any with Ginger in it, but figured when I got home I'd treat myself to a warm cup of tea with honey, lemon and a bit of milk....now I'm tired LOL

I have to log everything that I take as far as meds go, even vitamins. I have to log everything that changes health wise too, like if I had a headache or cramps...etc. I wonder if the Ginger is the same as the spice? Probably not....oh well. Oh and they said absolutely NO Accupuncture!

Oh and by the way, I read online somewhere that a lot of people take Ginger root for morning sickness....I was even told to at one point, but I saw online where it was studied and had a not so great outcome in some pregnancies so might not be a good idea the closer you get to ET :)
