For Diane30

Post by fiona_lk »

Oh Diane,

I have just seen your post on the General site.

I had no idea that you have been through such a rough time - I don't remember seeing you post before about your dh, but I can understand why not.

I just wanted to say that we're all here to look out for you even if we can't give physical support and send lots and lots of hugs your way.

I think we're due one day apart - are things getting uncomfortable for you now - I was awake for about 30 mins last night with Braxton Hicks and feeling a bit shattered yesterday. Have you sorted out a birth partner? I'd like my chinese dr to be there to give me acu, but midwife says she has to check up if allowed.

Lots of love

Hi Di,

I think you are very brave having mentioned it at all, it must be incredibly difficult for you to accept the situation, my heart truely goes out to you.

I personally (but then I have a good rapour with my midwife) would mention it to her - they must see others whose men have never been around or who have walked off and I am sure that knowing your background as I guess they will, they would work extra hard to give you the support you need. Do you not think he may come round once the baby is born, or do you not want him to? Please don't worry about not answering if you don't want to, I understand you will share what you want to.

On the subject of birthing partners if you are stuck, have you heard about birth doulas? I think there is a charge, but you could find out more from the following site:

http://www.britishdoulas.co.uk/

I hope whoever you decide on will give you lots of support.

Braxton Hick are tightenings of the bump, I think, well thats what I get anyway. Upto now they've not been painful, just a bit uncomfy. I've got to make a midwifes app for 31w3d (must do that today before I forget!!) and I already have a 36w app booked for the hospital. Its about every 4 weeks I go to someone somewhere.

My EDD is 21 March - I've still got 3 weeks to work after this (but wishing I could stop now as my puffy ankles and getting really tired) some people keep commenting I'm really big, then after my GTT Les said compared to the other women there, my bump is really neat so I'm not sure.

I have bought loads of clothes - everytime I have seen a bargin (at least 33% off) all the way upto 12 months. Some will think I'm mad (especially if the scanner woman was wrong and I'm not having a boy!) but I think of it as still having the same amount of money to spend from now until 12 months so why not get the bargins as I see them. The pram and car seat (Jane PowerTrack and Matrix thanks to Suzanne) and cot (bit extravagent this one - a Stokke Sleepi) should be waiting for us at the shop and we need to sort out bedding etc - not going overboard though as want to use grobags after 10lb. The nursery is already Winnie the Pooh yellow (was a study) so its staying that way and just (hmmmm, thats an understatement) needs emptying. Not buying any other furniture as have chest of drawers (now full of clothers) and bedding box we'll use.

Other than that, my bro and SIL are going to decorate our bedroom (isn't that so nice of them) and we're supposedly having a conservatory built (as you may have read we live with my mum and will lose our study/sitting room to the nursery) all before the event - getting a bit panicy now especially as builder starting to look un-reliable. But neither of these will take too much effort by ourselves so really shouldn't affect us too much so trying to keep chilled about it all

How about you? Are you all sorted baby stuff wise? Do you know the sex or not? Have you thought of names yet?

Anyway, better get back to some work I suppose.

I will try to keep in touch on a regular basis. Take Care

Love and hugs
