Hello,
Rebecca, thank you for your kind words. I was going to have a planned c section anyway on april 23rd, so I am hoping that she will stay in that long and that the cord won't hurt her.

Hello everyone,

Sorry it's been absolutely ages since I posted! I'm well, but just really uncomfortable and getting headaches quite a bit so I've just been taking it extra easy.

Both babies are still head up, and I go for a scan on Tuesday where they will hopefully schedule in a C section. I'll be 35 weeks then and the midwife already told me it is highly unlikely that they will flip for a v delivery. I sort of wanted to try for a natural birth but secretly I'll be relieved if they schedule me in for a C section without a choice. Don't tell anyone!

They are really starting to hurt me now, to the point where I actually came up in a bruise the size of a little head just under my ribs! Honestly I couldn't believe it when I saw it!!!

Glad to hear everyone is doing ok. Nearly there now, and I can't wait to hold my little ones.

Love to all,

Hayley xx

Cord Banking

Post by kipatte »

Hi Everyone:

Question: Is anyone banking the cord? What are your thoughts on this. In the U.S. it's a really big deal but here in the U.K. it's not. The U.K midwife says the stats that you would need it are like winning the lottery and the chances of you getting enough blood are slim.

It made me wonder if the U.S. is just marketing. If someone tells you this could save your baby's life who wouldn't do it.

I am confused and would appreciate everyones thoughts on this.

Kipatte, we were thinking about banking the blood, but with your info, and some head shaking from the friend of mine that works in pharmaceuticals we are thinking of not doing it. Definitely a thing to research some more. The sad part is, I don't think that we can get the RIGHT info just browsing through the internet.

Twin mammies :D My dear twin mammies, hang in there!! I feel for you, the great happy moment is near!! We are talking weeks, and some of us (Cocoa wink wink) days...

The newest thing with me, I think that my mucus plug started to come out a bit by bit. It looks yellowish and mucusy (no blood) sorry if TMI... Other than that, seeing my acupuncturist once a week; my lags are swollen, and I can feel my bones are moving in my pelvis area...All in all I am ready :D

Love you all

croella, I look at your counter and just get so excited 38 weeks amazing!

I can't believe that delivery is right around the corner for everyone so exciting. You twin ladies hang in there I think you will popo before you know it, I will keep my fingers crossed.

Is anyone else having problems with numb hands, mine started out jus getting numb in the middle of the night on the side that I was laying on, but now it has changed to just my right side and the numbmness lasts all day in my 3 middle fingers extremely annoying. I have read that it is just pregnancy induced carpel tunel but, this is getting ridiculous 5 more weeks might push me over the edge.

I found sciteacher on the ivf board she is going to try a frozen cycle she is having some problems withher clinic but is pushing forward and wanted me to say hi to evryone!

Not much time to post, but wanted to chime in on the cord blood. I am definitely banking and in fact signed up today. I don't know whether any of you heard the recent study, but there was a couple whose child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and apparently the child was very affected. The couple had banked the baby's cord blood. They used the cord blood and 5 days after treatment, the baby was miraculously cured (saying the word "mom" for the first time, exhibiting movement, etc.). Medical community is really jumping on this. I've heard many similar stories re: benefits of stem cells. Yes, it is a fee, but what can it hurt to keep the cord blood? If science discovers with absolute certainty in the future that the cord blood can cure a host of diseases (even those that arise in later life), wouldn't it be completely worth it to have collected the cord blood? This isn't something you can decide later in life.

From a woman who lost her child to a horrible genetic disorder (and a fan of genetic research), I personally am totally behind this. While stem cells would not have saved my little girl, unfortunately, they do seem to offer much hope for a number of diseases. After being one of those horrible statistics (not believing bad things could ever happen to your baby), there isn't anything I won't do to increase the chances of helping my children in whatever way possible. Just my personal opinion and I respect those who feel otherwise.

Good luck to all. Must go back to work.

xoxo

Hey ladies haven't been on here in forever, just wanted to say hello. I'm 33 weeks now and am so excited. I made a seperate post about this but just wondered what your opinions are on birthing centers instead of the hospital. I'm thinking about it and going to visit one next week but in the back of my mind wondering if it's not a smart choice after what we've been through to get this far. Hope all of you are feeling and doing well.

Hi Ladies!
Hangin in..
36 weeks today
WOO HOOOOOO

So anytime this week is fine by me, but I am hoping for next weekend, at 37 weeks...we'll see how my 3 appointments go this week ... 2 OB and one BPP...
if all goes well, by Wed my OB will let us schedule the c for next weekend.
SOOOOOOOOOOOO
excited.

Hayley...bruisers that you are carrying!!! Oh that must've been painful...best of luck to you...my babies are also breech so the c-section is the only option, but frankly, I would've chosen it anyway. I'm into my 40s and can't take any chances of baby B getting into distress...I just don't have it in me if something would go wrong and a c-section could've prevented it.

Baby B, very interesting re: the cord blood. I need to talk to my husband about it again...we were both baffled by the option...but you have experience in loss, and you bring up so many good points re: cord blood curing ailments ... in the future/research to come...we will know more.
thank you for your insight...
I wish you peace and at least some painless nights as the time passes ... can't wait for you to hold your babies!!!!

Croella...oh my god, you are almost there, girlfriend!!! yayyyyyy

Aliann, re: the numb hands..I do not have those...but actually I did for awhile, more on the side I was sleeping on....must be blood flow and the carpal tunnel talked about...massage them...hopefully the tingling doesn't last too long?

Cocoa...worried about you..hope you are either in the hospital, being taken care of, or have beaten up your OB senseless...it pisses me off royally to think of how dismissive she's been to your health...if you were 25 and not in your 40s...the age thing at LEAST should make her doubly concerned about you...wishing you well and a swift delivery. It's time for you!

gotta run...
wishing all luck and love

Cord Blood

Post by kipatte »

Croella and Baby B- thanks for the input on the cord blood.

Woodbridge I would be interested in what your DR. Husband has to say. My husband is also researching as he is a scientist. You can't find real information on the internet on this.

I am still getting a lot of mixed opinions on the cord blood. Most recently that research has progressed so much that stem cells are not hard to make and this will make the cord blood obsolete. Still looking into it.

We are all so close and wishing the best for everyone. I am supposed to take a breast feeding class this coming Tuesday, but it is so uncomfortable to go anywhere I dont know if I will make it.

Take care,

K

Hi Ladies... still here and couldn't be more miserable. I was in the hosiptal for 2 days (TH and FRI) for severe dehydration... Oh, so THAT'S what my problem was?!?!? I am so swollen I cannot bend my ankles (or should I say cankels) and I waddle because my thighs keep my legs apart - its truly gross... I began peeing a little more with all the fluids they pumped into me in those 2 days but I am paying for it in the swelling dept. I gained another 14lbs in 2 days in the hospital from the IV fluids. I cannot eat because my stomach is in my mouth and everything (even water) makes me nauseated to the point of vomiting most of the time. I can hardly get out of bed to pee (at least I am having the urge to go now) and I just want to be done, Done, DONE!!! I know if I have these babies before the 5th I will forfeit my disability (I have a 30 day elim period) but I DON"T FREAKIN CARE at this point!!! Dr. told me to stay on the ptl meds until Sunday morning and go in to see her on Monday at which time she will check ocntractions and cervical dialation and if I am in labor she will section me. I AM in labor - even the meds don't stop the contractions and boy do they HURT!!!!

I too have numbness and tingling in my hands and have for a long time. Mine too started out only at night but now I have it all the time in both hands (and even my shoulders hurt from the fluid retention). I look in the mirror now and do NOT see me I am so swollen and exhausted...Yuck!!!

Hayley - if you have an abdominal bruise you go to your OB right away!!! The babies should not be able to do that and you need to have placental abruption looked into. It doesn't always cause bleeding so please ask for an U/S if you haven't already had one since the bruise. I only say this because while pregnant with my son we had a car accident and the seat belt made a bruise in my upper right abdomen but I also had some abruption - it was slight and I never bled but please look into it...

WC!!! Whoa girl you are doing so much better than I... I just don't know what to do about any of this... I am truly miserable but scared to death of a c-sec (or any delivery at this point). At least I was monitored for 2 days and my heart and lungs are ok and so are my bloods so for that I am grateful but for how much longer can I deal!??! I may go before everyone!!!

OK, enough moaning... I too saw Michelle (sciteacher77) on the board and am glad she is cycling with a FET at least (the RE cancelled her fresh cycle saying it was too many days - 12 in all - and the ideal is 9 to 11, seems like such a small window to me but at least she's got a shot for this month)...

LisaPa - sending my love and prayers for your aunt and a great cycle!!!

If you don't hear from me for a few not to worry - I will definately be back...

Cocoa! I feel relief seeing your name on the boards, mixed with "oh that darn OB did not deliver her babies yet!"...
I feel so bad for your discomfort, I know you are dealing with this virtually alone and the thought of you just getting in and out of bed without a loving husband to help you pisses me off...(these hormones are making me pissed off at injustices right now!)

I have to say, my OB would have delivered the babies if I'd gained all that weight in 2 days...but you must've had blood tests for your kidneys and liver, etc...I just so wish for your health. I HATE your OB! She should be much more concerned, maybe she's never been in a malpractice suit??? hate her. Sorry. My thing, but I do.

wishing you a swift delivery this week.

Kipate...yes, nothing on the net worthwhile scientifically unless it is a true study...and it's hard to determine what's what sometimes...my hubby used the hospital/univ library where he teaches one day a week and it even took him awhile to find a good article on protinuria (proetein in the urine) when I was diagnosed with that...but what can we do? This administration has dumbed down the NIH and put people in charge of scientists who have NO scientific background but love to quote the bible. It sucks. Can't wait till we get back to science in America and leave religion out of politics "separation of church and state" ... my motto.

I had a straaange BP reading this morning, then it went back to normal. I am beg. to realize the babies will come when they want to...maybe before next weekend. oy.

Wishing all of us luck.

Hello All,
I just wanted to jump on and wish you all good luck! It looks like some of your babies are on the way!!!!!! I really miss you all! I have wanted to jump on and say hi for so long, but I am still having some really bad days. I am so sad and I miss my baby so much. However, we are moving forward. I was sad that my fresh cycle was cancelled, but we have converted the cycle to a frozen and will be transferring our one frozen embryo on Tuesday (if it survives the thaw.) Cross your fingers for me! I will be checking back and looking forward to updates from you all! I can't believe how close you are all getting!!!!

Post by kipatte »

my mind must be going. Woodcliff... sorry for calling you woodbridge. That's so funny looking back on it. I don't know what I was thinking.

Cocoa.....not too long now. Before I was pregnant I never realized that preg women were miserable in the last few months. A colleague of mine's wife was pregnant with twins, and I rememember him telling us how miserable his wife was and how he did not understand why these babies did not deliver sooner. She ended up going a week over. I don't know why the Dr. did not deliver earlier.

Cocoa.....I have never heard of such a thing as gaining as much weight as you have in a few days and twice! Do you like your Dr? What does she say about stuff like this?

Cocoa... how was dinner with your dad?

Till later,

K

Twin mommies, hang in there, you are almost done!!!!!!
I am so excited for all of us!!!!
I went for my BPP today and it was excellent, now my OB thinks that may be the US people didn't measure my baby correctly when they said that she was too small before, i don't know who to believe anymore, just kinda go with the flow i guess.
We are almost done with baby's room, just waiting on the rocking chair to arrive.
I have gained 38 pounds already , anyone else with singleton has gained that much so far or am i the only piggy here  ?
