Hi ladies,

Hope everything is all and well with you. I'm so glad to hear about the good news on the sex of everyone's babies. I'm still holding out not to know the sex. My DH and I are not even trying to guess even with all those pregnancy wives tales.

I returned one more time to the specialist office. I'm at Week 20, more u/s and 3D images were taken (placed on a CD so I can print up later). He was looking for the "stomach bubble". He wanted to make sure that baby was swallowing and that the mouth, throat and stomach are all connected. The baby was a bit shy. Kept covering it's face with one hand and then started to play peek-a-boo! My DH was laughing. Dr. gave us news on the finaly amnio report that everything is good and he said, "Congratulations!" Now, I can finally enjoy my pregnancy.

The family is very excited for us. That is, after the initial shock wore off. I guess that they never expected it. My parents actually looked like we hit them on the head with a frying pan. For the first time in my life, they were actually speechless. My mom told me that I look really good for being 4 1/2 months along. She's glad that we didn't say anything about getting pregnant. I told her that I was under strict instructions to not breathe a word. If she knew about doing an amnio, she would have told me to refuse it because of the slight chance of causing a miscarriage. My MIL was looking at the photo album presentation I put together, she looked at the first u/s image and asked, "Who's one is this?" My DH couldn't hold back and said, "Surely, it isn't mine."

Tears of joy were shed and we've received an outpouring of well-wishes from family and friends. We haven't had a chance to tell the rest of my dad's family yet. We'll be getting together with them very soon. We wanted to tell them all at once instead of individually so that feelings wouldn't be hurt.

Hooray! My SIL gave me some maternity clothes. I may not need to buy any.

Four days ago, I awoke from my dead sleep. I gripped my DH's arm firmly. He told me, "It's really late. Go back to sleep." And then it happened again. I felt like some movement across the inside of my belly. At first I thought it was a pocket of air. I've felt "flutters" before but now the the it's getting more frequent. It feels like when you flick your index finger against a surface. It's never in the same place. How awesome! And then I'm having a hard time sleeping on my side(s).

No, stretch marks yet. Not that I'm looking forward to them either. But, I have these "wet spots" the size of quarters on my bra where my nipple is. It's all very new to me.

Take care everyone!

Hello, ladies. Just popping in to say "hello" as I am feeling terrible right now. I guess I came down with something and I just feel miserable. I have an extremely tough trip to make starting tomorrow morning leaving on the 6:30 a.m. flgith to Kansas City and literally doing meetings all day from the moment I land to dinner that evening. Then I have to get up and drive to Wichita on Tuesday morning for 2 1/2 hours (the trip I missed when the bad weather struck TX) and spend the day there doing meetings. I turn around that afternoon and drive back to Kansas City for 2 1/2 hours to catch my flight home and get back at 10 p.m. Tuesday night. I cannot begin to tell you how I am not looking forward to this trip. My throat hurts so bad and I have 4 meetings tomorrow back to back where I am presenting in front of groups of people. There is nothing I can think of that is worse when you feel this way. Oh well, guess I get to take little Noah along with me to keep me company....yes, that is going to be our son's name...Noah Christian. :D

I hope you are all doing well. Karen - glad you are officially pregnant to the family - sounded like quite the surprise!!!

I will have to post pics from yesterday where I went to a friend's bachelorette party at least for a few hours (mainly just for the shower part of it). They are pretty funny - me being all preggo. We took a couple of cary photos. :)

Take care all!

Congratulations, Tina, on your baby boy!! How exciting! As I keep saying, baby boys are awesome. The boys are really outweighing the girls on this thread, huh? :) Sorry you are not feeling well. Your trip sounds absolutely horrendous. If I had to do something like that right now I would totally cry. Hang in there...when it's done you will feel great.

Dancinnancy - I read your post about the Graco SafeSeat and I freaked b/c that is the one we have. We used it for a year w/our son and really liked it. Then I remembered that I had read about this issue before, and Consumer Reports retracted its study because of flaws. So the seat is OK after all. I really liked it. Here's a link to the story:

seltzer-

Here is an article from the baby bargains website in regards to the consumer reports flawed tests...

"Breaking news---Consumer Reports releases revised infant car seat crash tests"
Car seat crash tests. Take two.

Seven months after an embarrassing gaffe that exposed flawed testing, Consumer Reports has quietly posted revised results from their infant car seat tests today online.

As you might remember, the magazine launched a major media blitz last January, trumpeting a report that showed 10 out of 12 infant car seats failed an enhanced safety test.

Funny story: the test was, how should we say it? Flawed. And now, after re-testing the seats, ALL infant seats have passed. (Somehow, we doubt this is going to lead off the NBC Today Show tomorrow).

Here are some highlights (and our observations) of CR's report, which will appear in their October issue.

• The Chicco Key Fit got the highest score. We would agree---this is an excellent seat. (Since all the car seats passed the crash test, CR judged seats on ease of use and fit to vehicle).

• The top 3 seats were: Chicco Key Fit followed by the Britax Companion and Peg Perego Primo Viaggio.

• The bottom 3 seats were the Safety 1st Designer, Combi Centre ST and Evenflo Discovery. Again, their scores were hurt by ease of use and fit to vehicle.

• The "best buys" where the Chicco Key Fit, Baby Trend Flex-Loc, and Graco Snug Ride with EPS.

• One model that came in for big criticism last time (the Eddie Bauer Comfort) was not rated since it has been discontinued.

• The Graco SafeSeat came in sixth place---getting "very good" marks for ease of use and fit to vehicle. Interestingly, CR only tested this seat with a 22 pound dummy, despite the seat's 30 pound capacity. As you may remember, CR in January tested this seat with a 30 pound dummy---and it failed that enhanced test. However, given the seat's new clean bill of health in CR's revised test, we will raise our rating of the Graco SafeSeat (which we had recommended in a previous version of Baby Bargains).

I feel terrible for making you worry Seltzer!

No worries, Dancinnancy! thanks for posting the updated info. My son doesn't use the seat anymore, since he's almost 16 months now, and his nanny uses a Graco convertible seat. We switched him to the Britax Marathon shortly before he was a year old. We have two of them, and they are great. They are pricey though (~$275-$300). Glad to hear the SafeSeat is OK after all, so I don't have to invest in another car seat & accompanying stroller. I of course wouldn't use it for the next baby if it failed the crash test. That said, I would NOT recommend the Graco travel system stroller that goes with the SafeSeat. For no apparent reason a piece of the wheel casing/housing fell off one day last summer when we took a trip to the Aquarium in Boston in almost 100 degree heat. We had to wait outside forever for tickets w/the broken stroller (the entire thing tilted to one side), and then we couldn't use it in the Aquarium at all & had to lug the baby around. To top off the day, our son hated the place and screamed the entire time, LOL.

Hi Bump Buddies,
I had my first prenatal yoga class last night & it was great. I've always enjoyed yoga, then had to quit when I got my BFP :D I highly recommend it, if some of you are considering taking a class. My only exercise since I got pregnant has been to walk my dog. It felt great to work on strength & flexibility.
HD & I go today to tour a daycare in our neighborhood. It's very highly rated, so I hope we like it. I'd much rather keep baby boy home, but since he cost so much to get here I know I should keep working if it's at all possible.
Hope everyone is doing well. Shari, hope you are feeling better.

Hello all! I am back from Kansas - whew - long trip!!! I thought it was never going to end, esp with the way I was feeling. I am feeling much better now...however, I have to admit the weight I have gained is hard for me some days and I have been getting terrible heartburn - every day!! I did not have it much in the 1st trimester at all, so I am surprised I am getting it so much now. Oh well - as long as my little boy is happy in there then that is all that matters. Hopefully we are deciding on the crib and stuff this weekend. I think we are going with one from Pottery Barn. Pretty exciting stuff! :)

Ok, gotta run. My best to all of you!

We need more pics on the site! I posted a crazy one from the bachelorette party. It is pretty funny.

Hello Ladies,
I'm up early here, feeling MUCH better than these past few days. I had lots of stretching going on on the inside and it was PAINFUL and scary. TG, everything is fine :) . I also signed up for lamaze, which begins at the end of this month. It's a private group given by a certified childbirth educator, with only about 3 couples participating. This woman is sooo nice and told me to call any time with any concerns. I told her I may definitely take her up on that!

Rebecca- Thanks again for your support and calming words. As you can see, I am feeling loads better, plus I have my Dr.'s appt. tonight, and he has all the test results. BTW, your prenatal yoga class sounds great. I haven't done yoga in a long time, but I used to be addicted; it's sooo relaxing and centering. Sounds wonderful, enjoy!

Tina- Ouch! Just reading about your work travel schedule exhausted me. I hope you don't push yourself too hard. I know I sound like 'mom', but I worry about my fellow bump buddies! Hope your trip was successful and that you get a chance to rest once you get back. BTW, Noah is a BEAUTIFUL name :) .

Be well everyone, and have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Shari

Shari: Glad to hear you are feeling better! Those growing pains can be tough...I have had my share of them as well! I had my DH measure my belly yesterday.....it is measuring 39"!! Man am I getting big!! I will have DH take a new pic this weekend so you guys can see how the boys are progressing!

Tina: Glad you are feeling better! I can feel your pain on the heartburn!! Mine has gotten really bad over the past 2 weeks! It is mainly at night! I wake up and cannot go back to sleep due to the burn!!! I have started taking a few tums before bed and try to sleep with my head and chest slightly elevated. This has helped a bit! I think it is just one of those things!!
So exciting about the crib shopping! I found a changing table/dresser at Pottery barn that we are going to get! I love their cribs as well, but am going to look around a little locally first for something a little less expensive! It really starts to add up!!! YIKES!!

Rebecca: Good luck on your Day Care search! I too wish I could stay home full time with the wee ones, unfortunately we cannot afford it right now either. I keep hopeing to come into some sort of windfall before my 12 weeks of matenity leave are up!!

Karen: So glad your worries have been put to rest and you can finally enjoy your pregnancy!!!! :D Post your pics as soon as you can, I am anxious to see some 3D images!!

We go in tomorrow for out 20 appointment! It is hard to believe it 20 weeks already!!! They are going to do a thorough anatomy scan to ensure everything is as it should be! Keep your fingers crossed for us!! We are having our family announcement this weekend! It should be fun!

Take care everyone!!
