Vlada don't worry about the weight I can't remember but I think you are pretty close to your due date 3 1/2 weeks maybe so you probably won't gain anymore they say a lot of women actually drop 2-3 lbs in the last few weeks even though baby will still gain its 1/2lb a week. They recommend 25-35 lbs and you are barley over that even if you do still gain a lb a week you might hit 40lbs and you would still be in a healthy range!

Thanks Aliann,
I really hope not to go over 40 pounds, and my scheduled c section is on april 23rd, so i am very close. My OB said that i have a ton of amniotic fluid, so hopefully it is not all fat

OK girls... I had decided yesterday ENOUGH with the nonsense and go to see another doc (alternate hospital L&D) and talk to the peri who saw me last week... Both woke up my ob and I am scheduled for an amnio tomorrow to check lung maturity and if ok I will deliver by c-sec. I cannot imagine if it comes out not mature since my legs (and back) have swelled even more to the point where even the hospital staff today during my pre-amnio check called others over to get a gander at my plus 4 edemic legs!!! Greaaaaattttt... thanks - THAT'S so comforting. It is so darn scary to see your legs blow up to 2 1/2 times their size. I am taking pics just because no one could even imagine it this bad even with an explanation...

I was even contracting regularly every 4 minutes at a level of 125-140 on the machine and I am home now (cervix still 1.5cm with tiny effacement like 10%). I can hardly walk and cannot stand for more than 15 seconds without pain... Pray that my water breaks from the needle so I can get this done and over...

Vlada - I gained 44 pounds with my son and lost 58!!!!! by the time he was 6 mo old - you are right on target girl... and congrats on the baby size I am sure you feel better...

Pray for me for those who pray and I will be in touch with the outcome...

WC... you hanging in?
CroElla... ooooooo, so close... but I still may beat ya!
Love to the rest of you for sure...

Cocoa darling, for your own good and your babies sake I hope you gave birth to them!!! I tear every time I read your post...you suffered enough! It shouldn't be so ugly for crying out loud :(

I went to my acupuncturist today and during the session for about 20 minutes I had most severe (menstrual like) pain in my lower belly...I couldn't wait to be over...As soon as I got up and move around a bit it was fine and pain was gone...

Last week (Tuesday) I was 1 cm opened and 70% thinned cervix...I have doc's app on Wednesday...My belly still didn't "drop" ...

Hang in there girls!
:D Especially twin moms!!

Cocoa, so happy that someone has finally seen sense and is helping you rather than putting you through more misery. Sounds like your babies will be with you v soon so good luck!!! we'll be thinking of you and look forward to hearing from you with more news!

Croella, sound like you had a real contraction so you too are v close. So excited for you!!

Vlada, I'm proud of you for putting on 38 lbs - it's obvioulsy helped up the babies weight and I'm told that us smaller folk need to put on even more weight as we start off too low. It will drop off in no time. I'm up to 151lbs (from 108!) which scares me when I look at the number but am trying to ignore it as I know it won't help me or the twins. Pre-pregnancy I had a real "issue" with food and so it's the one time in my whole life I am just enjoying eating as I have an excuse!! My problem at the moment is that I just can't stop eating!! my babies are going to be full on chocoholics!!

WC, how are you doing? hope that BP has stayed low.

Love to everyone else

COCOA...I also had tears in my eyes reading your post...I am SO HAPPY that the perinatologist is taking charge in some way. THis should NOT be happening to you, such edema...I am wishing your babies a healthy delivery...
You are almost at 36 weeks and that is HUGE (no pun intended)...how you managed to get this far with so many physical discomforts says so much for your health, stamina, etc...it is simply amazing.
Slap that OB silly once the kids are delivered   SHE sounds like she is in the wrong profession...your poor, poor body.

Kipatte...crack me up, no problem on the Woodbridge...I can't remember much these days at all either!

SCI TEACHER...I hope things went well today...I am so rooting for you and your husband...
Lisa, HOpe you are doing OK too...it must be hard for both of you ladies right now...we all wish you love and peace.

Vlada, heh, you skinny little thing, you needed to pack on pounds!!! And the baby? will be gorgeous (naturally)...every kid doesn't need to be a porker at birth!!!

Aliann....Rebecca...wishing U 2 well.
Croella...WOWOWOWOWOWO...you're going for it...can't BELIEVE you can still make it out of the house to an accupunturist appt! You go girl.

OK, today? My C was scheduled for Sat at 10:00 am!! April 5...so excited...BUT I have 2 more appts this week...anything could happen, babies could come earlier than Sat, or my BP could go up (I do not think it will, it is holding and my edema is gone due to being in bed all day...BUT when I sit or stand for a period of time it gets a tad puffy in the ankles).

More in a bit

OK, where to buy reasonably priced rugs?
I just want a cushy, soft cotton 8 x 11 rug and man they are hard to find...
oh well.

Also, I asked my OB about cord blood banking..he said about 8 to 10% of his patients do it, that mostly it is people with higher education and income, as it is pricey at first ($1500 or so initially, pluse $125 per year)

Still do not know what to do
My husband has changed names...I thought our son would be LUKE but now we have some really cool other names...
I think LUKE will be a chick magnet....but my hubby pointed out he'll have to work for a living too  so maybe a cooler and brainier name will do ...

OMG -- so much activity in the last couple of days! I just had my baby shower this weekend. It was nice to see friends I haven't seen in ages. I have to say, I did more walking about on the day of the shower than I typically do all week. I started to feel a great deal of pressure down south (not to mention back pains) and had the sense that I might have a bladder infection because I had to pee ever 7-10 minutes (without much coming out).

Instincts seem to be right. I called the OB today and went in for a urine test. White blood cells are up (indicative of bladder infection). I'll have confirmation of diagnosis in a couple of days. Meanwhile, the OB put me on antibiotics for fear that the infection might push me into pre-term labor (this is what happened with my last natural pregnancy at 24 wks). The nurse said to me "I don't think you'll go to 34 weeks if you are feeling this kind of pressure already." Not sure the OB agrees (although I met with the OB on call today as my regular OB is on vacation for a week).

Listening to what everyone else is going through, however, ESPECIALLY DEAR COCOA, I feel like I'm doing relatively well (excluding the back stuff). Seeing how long twin mommies seem to be making it into the pregnancy (36/37 weeks), I can't imagine I'd go much sooner. Like all of you, however, I am so ready to be done. As soon as I hit 32 weeks (well, OK, I should struggle to get to 34 for the sake of my boys), I'm hoping these progress. 36/37 weeks seem to far away and way to intense for me to handle. I'm still working full time (home at 7 tonight). Have another 3 weeks to go -- good god!

Vlada: I wouldn't begin to worry about the weight. You are right on target.

WC: Talking rugs -- you know you're in great shape! Luke is sexy. What are the other options on the table? Can't wait to hear about your delivery -- I know it is just around the corner.

Cocoa: How I wish I could do or say something to make you feel better. You sound miserable and I too agree that your OB hasn't taken care of you under the circumstances. As much as I'd like you to make it to the 5th, your health and the health of your babies MUST TAKE PRECEDENCE.
I am thinking of you always. Be well.

Rebecca: Glad your ribs are healing. I hope it isn't my imagination, but I feel as though SOME of the pain in my ribs is decreasing. Perhaps the babies have dropped a wee bit. I still have back pain, but mid back pain seems to be a bit lower now and my sciatica is starting to flair up again.

SciTeacher and LisaPa: Hoping and praying for both of you. Thinking BFPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Croella, Kipatte, and anyone else I'm forgetting (sorry, it's a pregnancy thing), take care of yourself and can't wait to hear outcomes!

Time to catch some R&R now. I'm so exhausted and don't feel I'm being as productive as I need to be at the office, which is really stressing me out.

xoxo

Blimey - so much going on!!

WC, 5th April - that is so exciting - less than a week!!! I know it will be the last thing on your mind but will you take your computer to the hospital and let us know??? we will all be anxious thinking of you. I think Luke is a lovely name too...although I also love Luca..... with your love for Italy I thought you'd have a list of old romantic names :) By the way, we went to Ikea last night and they have some really nice rugs in there.

Cocoa, let us know the latest. You are so close now!!! not sure who is going to deliver firsy - you or WC...maybe the same day!! keep hanging in there, the misery is almost and you will forget it as soon as you look at your babies little faces. Hope you have someone to take you to the hopsital and bring you home.

Croella, gald that the cramps have subsided but fingers crossed that you don't go over the 40 weeks....

Baby b - i worked until 34 weeks too.... hard work but good for keeping the mind occupied on something other than the pregnancy's. Just make sure that those baby boys stay in for another week or so after you finish as it's lovely to have some "me" time. I've been organising the house, getting a hair cut (just chopped it all off short!) and doing all the little jobs that have been left undone for the last few years!

Vlada, sounds like you're doing great - one week until your next scan!

Kipatte, Lisa, Screicher - sending you lots of love!

all well my end, went for another NST yesterday (which they both passed) and then had a dr appointment - they are waiting on THursday's growth scan results to determine C-section date but I feel confident that we can keep keep them cooking until 14th. I am eating a ton of protein and resting lots in the hope that baby B will not be like his/her mummy and will enjoy packing on the weight!! Getting legs waxed today as I got somewhat close to them yesterday and was scared by the jungle that's occured!!

Take care all and keep in touch!

Rebecca, you are soooo far along! I so admire how you (and BabyB) worked so far into your pregnancies...And the idea of getting a leg wax sounds great...
My hubby's hairdresser offered to send a colorist to the house to do my hair, but I can't even rally for that...plus I only have 3 days to go
I so admire you are on your feet and out and about so much, you go girl! APril 14 was my initial C sec date. ha
Keep up the eating...you'll be fine once the babies are delivered...I 'get' food issues and really hope what 'they' say is true: that twin weight comes off fast, I am banking on it.

OK, I amost delivered today...during My BPP baby Boy didn't 'move' enough for the tech..it took 90 minutes (damn it hurts to be on my back that long) and I was weeping at one point because she said if the boy did not move within the next 5 min I'd be in L&D...I've had this tech 3 times and she is great...gave me OJ, etc.
SO I told my hubby to get me a chocolate bar.
Voila....small, but enough, movement ..
baby girl, my quiet one? was moving like crazy (could not feel her) and had the hickups earlier (soooo cute), so I knew she was OK.
So that was my son't April Fool's day joke on us...
He has been MOVING like a wild man from the moment we left the hospital
Little devil
SO hopefully I'll make it until Sat. No promises, though. Looking forward to it as ever.
I still like Luke (in Italy we'll call him Luca) but my hubby is still holding back...whatever.

Croella, wow...you are almost 39 weeks...wishing you luck!
BabyB, I am so sorry you are still in pain..but happy the baby shower is over and I do wish for your work to go smoothly...again, no way in h*ll could I have worked at all after even 28 or 24 weeks...my body would contract like crazy er...belly...with BH and I'd be flat out on the couch or bed...I took it so easy during the pregnancy...had to.

Cocoa, I wish you deliver sooner than me, seriously....I want you out of this freakin' misery.

Vlada, good luck, hope you see your baby girl's face on April 8!

Hayley, how is it going?

I will hope to take my laptop to the hospital....if I do I will let you know...if not it means the chaos overcame me bearing news!!!

Rebecca...IKEA! Of course .... why did I not think of that??

LOTS of love ladies...

HI ALL!!!!

Not going to be a long post as I am SOOOO huge that I have no energy and I am officially just a gestator

I went in for my amnio yesterday and AGAIN my OB screwed up - she had sent me to L&D the day before where I found out I was having my amnio not that day but the next morning (yesterday morning). They kept me there for an NST and urine/BP check - all was fine with BP/urine and GREAT with the babies - contracting every 4 minutes like clockwork but my cervical check showed no changes from the 1.5cm ... Anyway, I get up early for my ride to the hospital the next morning to undergo the amnio. Well, there was no paperwork at MFM for me! Now mind you, I can barely walk with these hugely engorged legs and I had already walked all the way to MFM which is on the other side of the hospital from the walk-in entrance. They had me call my OB on call AGAIN!!! and she asked did I pick up the script from the office the day before!?!??! WHAT!?!?!? I was at L&D, where you sent me the night before, until 5:40PM and NO ONE told me there was a script at the office and not at MFM!!!

Long story short I was at the hospital from 7:40am -waiting for the script to be faxed, waiting for a wheelchair so I could go back down to registration (yes, it hurts THAT much to walk), waiting for the "twins NST chair" PRE-amnio, waiting for the peri to read the NST and THEN went in for the amnio at 11:40am!!! My consolation prize (thank God!) was that I got the peri I like and not the woman with the bad breath!!! He was wonderful, answered all my questions and is just so calm with a great sense of humor :) What a blessing... The nurse and tech were really great too! Anyway, I have no energy to be cranky anymore so I just took the whole day all in in stride anyway.

I closed my eyes as he put the needle in the U/S transducer (it guides the needle with a little apparatus on the transducer) and said "little stick" and that's all it was!!! It was over in 30 seconds. Then the peri (after explaining that the there was a 90% chance for maturity and even if the numbers came out less it wouldn't necessarily mean the baby would have RDS) asked me my OB's plan after receiving the results. I said I was unsure - he gave such a look to the nurse!!! You could tell there was some questioning going on there - BUT in defense of my OB she is the BEST OB/GYN surgeon in the entire region so I am sure my c-sec will go just fine.

Although the peri said that the results should be ready in the afternoon same day I was sure that I would not hear from my OB until today (its only 7:30am so I am waiting) about the next steps. I DO know her surgery day is Friday which means that I may deliver Friday! I hope so... which would then put me ahead of everybody - even WC! WOW!!!

Ladies - I am so filled with fluid in my lower half that I feel like I am carrying around a 300 lb barbell. I can hardly take care of myself and hygiene is an all out process! My belly has grown to enormity (I am sure a lot of it is water retention).

Regarding baby movement - I barely feel my babies anymore. I heard this happens when the babies are getting ready to come. When they do move I have a hard time knowing who it is and it feels a lot more like gas bubbles now but my NSTs have been great with a lot of baby movement and great heart rates!

OK, I wasn't planning on a long one but I want you all to know how much I have loved your support and ongoing updates... I cannot wait to have baby news for you and hear all of your baby news...

Cocoa....hopefully Friday for you. There is a shot they can give you 24 hours before the babies are born that developes the lungs. Have they mentioned it. I have an acquaitance that went into labor at 30 weeks. They gave her the shot....it needs 24 hours to work and delivered her baby. The baby was breathing on it's own and did not need help!

Vlada...most of my friends have gained 40 to 60 lbs with a singleton. These were normal weight individuals. They key they said was breasfeeding. One of my friends said she pumped enough for twins and lost 10 lbs more than her starting weight. Since breastfeeding burns 500 calories a day..... I'm in! I have not had a 3D ultrasound. In the UK we would have to arrange and pay for it ourselves. With 21 days left do you think it is worth it?

Croella... I wish I had the energy to go to a acupuncturist. Actually I miss having a massage and am looking forward to this after the baby is born. Just had a pedicure... that was nice. Color this week which will have to hold me until two weeks after the baby is born (5 weeks).

RebeccaJ- I was told that chocolate is good for you the last 8 weeks and keep in handy. Since I can't each much because of the acid reflux.... I guess it keeps my energy and mood up!

Woodcliff- How are you getting comfortable in a bed all day? I can't sit up in a bed (back hurts). Only laying on my right side with a pillow between my knees works.... but then the weight on my right leg starts to really hurt. I have a lounge chair I am sitting in that is fairly comfortable for about an hour... then I have to move a little as I get sore.

21 days left and counting!

Hi everyone. Just a quick one as I'm on a friend's computer...

I went for another scan yesterday at 35 weeks, and as they are both breech I was hoping/expecting that they would schedule me in for 1 or 2 weeks time.

But no, they want me to go to 38 weeks, so my scheduled C section is the 21st April.

The doc said that statistically there's a good chance I could go into labour beforehand, in which case they'd get me in for a C section straight away.

I just want them out now, I'm soooo uncomfortable. Sounds like a few of you guys are too :(
