Reassurance needed please

Post by helenlouise »

8 weeks, 2days.

Got up to go to the loo last night and found i was bleeding. It was definately not spotting, more like a gush.
Rang NHS direct who basically said wait and see if theres any more bleeding/cramping and go for a scan next week to see if they are still there.

This has come as a shock as i haven't seen any blood at all since EC.
Please can people reassure me that they may have bled but are ok. Also i have mild, but very low down cramping.

helen, it sounds like you've stopped bleeding now? i'm not too familiar with it but i have seen on this site and fertility friends, where bleeding has happenend and the pregnancy is still ok. i hope someone else can give you more info asap.

helen, why don't you go to a early pregnancy unit. they will be able to scan you straight away. nhs direct should be able to tell you where your local unit is otherwise you'll be worried sick.

Hi Helen,

Well I for one no what its like to worry about something like this. I was like yourself I started bleeding and I bled on and off uptil I was about 18wks pg. When you see blood it does panic you and I thought always the worst. I know it doesn't help because you just want reassurance that everything will be ok. I would say to contact your clinic because they can scan you. When I was going through all of it, I went to the hospital and they wouldn't scan me because the machinery doesn't really pick up anything before 12 weeks this is what they told me anyway.

If you have any more worries please call the clinic, if you need me you know where I am.

Love
Shell.

Hi Helen,
Like Shell (who said the same thing to me, that I'm going to say to you), bleeding does happen and things can be ok.
I started bleeding around 7/8 weeks and this continued until around 14 weeks. I had brown blood, red blood, red clots, bad cramps and backache - no 'normal' pregnancy signs eg nausea. Everything was ok until last Monday and then old blood appeared again - thankfully the wee man is fine.
I know it is hard not to worry, but try and take it easy. As Shell says, phone your clinic or Early Pregnancy Unit asap to get yourself reassured - we were frequent visitors and as they said, that's what they are there for.
All the best

Hello Helen

I don't know if you have seen any of my recent posts but I have had two massive bleeds and all is well so far. I had the first at 7 weeks with some big flippin' clots and a bit of spotting at 14 weeks and then last weekend at 16.5 weeks another big bleed which just poured out of me and a few smallish clots. The doctors told me it was just one of those things and not to worry too much. I do worry but there is nothing I have done or can do to prevent it happening again. Some people bleed, some don't.

I do suggest going to an EPU and having a scan as it will make you feel better and it will be in your notes for future reference. If the bleeding has stopped and you have no bad pain I expect it is ok but I am no expert and we are all so different. Was the blood a fresh bright red or brownish? Both mine were fresh bright red and a lot of it.

I am now 17.5 weeks and no more bleeding for now. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Take care love Dagny x

Hi Helen
I've bled throughout most of my pregnancy so far. I bled at 8, 10, 11, 15, 19 - 19 was a v big clot. I thought I would bleed at 23 but 'touch wood' I havent. My midwife has told me to ring emergency doc if I bleed again.
When I bled at the beginning the hosi did another scan for me.
Good luck.

Hi Helen,

Just wondering how you are feeling today, you've had some posts, I think it is more common now to bleed throughout pg but that doesn't help our little minds does it?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks everyone for replying, it really does help to know many people go through the same.

Anyway, went to the clinic this morning for a scan and there they were my 2 babies healthly and growing and making me wonder why i had been in such a tis! The consultant said i was the second person that morning with a bleeding worrry and it was probably just a small blood vessel burst as the babes are doing so much growing at the mo.
Anyway, got another nice pic to look at.

Thanks again for all your kind words and all being well i won't need to scan again until 12 weeks.

Hi helen,
So glad to hear your scan went ok this morning - what a worry over the weekend for you. You must be so relieved now to have seen your two babies on the screen - and the scan photo's an added bonus.
Take care,
Diane

Oh that's a relief... It sounded a bit similar to my awful incident, and I really didn't want to give you bad vibes. (I won't even mention the word)

So glad your twinnies are with you safe and sound.

Take good care, now and feet up.
