My husband and I are in the process of accessing IVF clinics and doctors in New York. We recently visited the Sher Institute where we found the doctor to be incredibly informative and thorough. They did however seem to be a little more experimental than previous doctors and clinics we had visited. This could be a good thing but I am a little nervous at the same time. Is there anyone out there who has been through Sher Institute in New York? Would love to hear about your experiences.

Hi, I don't have any personal experience with them but I would recommend chcking out their success rates that are posted by the CDC and SART online.

I had a post about a month ago about good clinics in the northeast ( ilive in RI but was considering either CT or NYC). I too had looked into the Sher institute because of people on this site. Ghost did reply and did say that either Cornell or Uconn were good.
Don't remember if Sher and SIRM are the same, but this is what Ghost said on my other posts.

SIRM does not report their birth rates to SART, which is unusual. SIRM does post pregnancy rates on their website. They claim a 10% rate of ongoing pregnancy (at 10 weeks) for fresh non-donor cycles in the 41-42 age group. That's the latest numbers they posted, first quarter 2007, and summarizes all of their clinics, combined.

From their research, I like the University of Connecticut (Farmington) and Cornell (NY, NY). Connecticut has published some very impressive findings on improving safety and Cornell has an outstanding embryology lab.
I was looking at Cornell, but in the end, I've decided not to do it due to the financial aspects. I was extremely lucky to have my insurance cover 6 IVF cycles at basically 100%. Really can't afford it out of pocket. Good luck to you.
